Just to put a spanner in the works, I’m not prepared to leave my bike in the car if we’re sitting inside. My bike and I are inseperable!!

Hip flask and cake for me!

To be honest Rudeboy I wouldn’t know where to suggest that mtb’ers would be welcome.

Anyone know if The Golden Retriever on Nine Mile Ride is welcoming?

I’m dead jealous, I must get to the Chilterns again soon!

mutley – is that the road from the Nature Reserve with the pig of a climb on the left that leads towards Maidensgrove?

iRideSpesh – is the second one near the reservoir in Great Wood, close to Hambledon?

curtis – see how you go. An option is always to ride one session, ie the morning, which will be a couple of hours then we return to the Cafe. So you’re never far away to bail out if needs be. It’s not a race!

The good thing is that there will be some locals riding so you can always be directed back to the centre, it’s not a huge forest.

Think it’s mid-Wales, Montgomery possibly? Lovely scenery though, and stone circles, and mountains, and rain.

Now now, I have to disagree. Not boring, continually evolving as good music should. I still listen to “The Yes Album” and don’t think it has dated.

auricgoldfinger – I ain’t no party-pooper! Do what I do when at Swinley – adopt the attack position and aim for the parents and their offspring – see how quick they scatter! Mind the dogs though!

Another vote for Wishbone Ash, they were so good live.

Will there be another programme or was it a one-off?

Mine’s the old model (Juliana) and is just under 26 lbs, Fox 100mm’s work really well but am thinking about possibly changing wheels this year to lose a bit of weight.

    Blimey, 86 posts!!

nicko74 – yes, well spotted. From experience, I know that blokes talk a lot, faff a lot and fettle a lot. You don’t really want me to act as the Faff Police do you?

WCA – this is not good news, anything to do with your newest niche two-wheeled object? Seriously, do hope it gets better soon as, after all, the BigBikeBash needs its organisor. Do you want to post the flyers to me? Send me an e-mail and I’ll give you my address.

Soma_Rich – sorry to hear you can’t make it but hope your big wheels enjoy the Plain tomorrow.

Dr.P – will we see you? Conditions are great at the moment, much better than at the Mulled Wine Ride!!

Welcome Strangelove, this is definitely the ride for you! We are expecting a few wheezers with New Year resolutions so come aboard!

Gus – will you honour us with an appearance?

XC_PK – this is the ride to do, much more fun than those others. Who wants to race when you can behave badly and have a lot of laughs?

So … did anyone watch it?

Well, it did take me back and didn’t realise what a good guitarist Steve Howe was. Still love “yours is no disgrace” by Yes.

What was frightening was how many of the bands featured I have seen … and not just once either! A little visit to the loft tomorrow to retrieve the vinyl. Oh and the mention of The Rainbow – that used to be my second home!

    Rock on.

Sorry for sounding really stoopid but why does it have to be a trail centre?

I got into riding bikes cos I wanted to, nobody persuaded me to try it and I reckon a trail centre is not the way to go. It could potentially be offputting if you don’t have the requisite handling skills.

In fact I would agree with forge that a skills course is the way to go, wish I would have done that myself when I started out to learn how to handle a bike, setup, gears, braking, balance etc before moving on to anything else.

But then, what do I know, I’m just a girlie

shteve – the good thing is that on these group rides you get a real cross- section of folk and a cross-section of bikes too. Some wear lycra, some don’t, some have bling bikes, some don’t, some have gears, some don’t, some can ride, some can’t (I’m not ashamed to admit it either!).

Just take people as you find them – you ride bikes so that’s all that matters. Ignore some of the bantering going on here – some of us know each other :-)

    rOcKeTdOg – you’re just a tease

shteve – welcome to STW! Riding will be mainly singletrack, climbing tends to be short and steepish. No mountains, sorry! There’s only one way to find out so come and join us!

pk – I don’t do insults (knowingly). Reckon you’re a pussy cat in real life though

Peter Gabriel was Genesis not Phil Collins. The sight of him wearing a fox’s head was amazing but I was never really into them. But Gabriel was innovative, you can’t take that away from him.

fu_munchu – will be good to see you again. Are your forks sorted? Don’t forget to tell your ‘colleague’ that I look forward to hooking up sometime.

Will have some different trails for you too.

mboy – Aleigh is great fun, a real laugh!

iRideSpesh – you’ll be more than welcome. We may well possibly make a little visit to The Labryrinth but there are so many trails to choose from so we may not  Just turn up!

Not everyone gets ‘prog rock’ but, really, you had to be there! Agree about The Kinks – way ahead of their time.
