White vinegar can be used in the place of fabric conditioner, it has the added bonus of helping to clear pipes.  Alternative is adding soda crystals to the wash but would need to check on quantity, not much for sure.

Thanks for that @stumpy01, shall have a read.  Not needing electric sounds great!

Any estimates of how much these cost to run per month/annum?  Another one with poor water unfortunately.

The SJP is also used for TV License “evasion” and from what I’ve read any letters sent by the accused mostly do not get read by the Judge.  Find their phone number pronto and seek their guidance in order to save yourself grief in the long term.

IoM, well worth a watch, both channels.  They get a fair bit of stick from some of Tom’s fanboys but I find them very entertaining – especially the duck “packraft”.

Thanks and, yes, that duck raft is hilarious.  All good fun guaranteed to bring a smile.

They have done various Straight Line Missions, once even going against Geowizard although can’t remember where that took place.  One is a fell runner.

The Alman Brothers Band and Stephen Stills

Saw the Allman Brothers in the 70’s, Duane had unfortunately passed a few years earlier.  2.1/2 hour set, amazing.  Would like to see Stephen Stills, he’s very good.

Would be surprised if there’s one product that would do everything on your list.  You can buy venetian blind gadgets.  I use a telescopic duster for ceilings and walls, also does curtain poles and think it’s from Lakeland.

Thank you.  Have now read up on this and should think that local residents will be relieved when the repairs eventually finish next year.  Must have been terrifying for them.

Ask the people of Whaley Bridge and the surrounding – mostly downstream – area about that one…

Am in a different part of the country so if you’re able to tell me then that would be appreciated.

Many years ago MX’ers were given use of a small piece of land abutting Swinley Forest.  I believe it worked well and kept them away from damaging the singletrack.  It was basically scrubland although surrounded by SSSI land.

It needs people working together and coming up with practical solutions.

“These scrotes on their pimped up bikes, riding the tow paths far too fast, intimidating all types of people, dogs and small children, seem to be very brave when in a group, but on its own a scally isn’t so brave. I personally am fed up with the noise, the intent to really frighten people, the ability to cause serious damage and commit theft, robbery and violence.

The latest one we had was flying down the towpath beeping his horn and expecting families, women with buggies, old people with dogs and anyone enjoying a nice summer evening stroll to jump/leap out of the way.”

Would it be worth contacting the Canal & River Trust?  Are there any boats moored and used as dwellings?  It sounds like really unselfish behaviour and needs to be reported to the police before anyone gets hurt.  Is there nowhere else for the scrotes to go where they won’t bother folk?  Or can some land be made available to them?

On a serious note, it’s probably gone too far to make any meaningful change and really education is the only hope.

Very surprised that a woman told him off, definitely not a wise move.  Will this make him change his ways?  No, he won’t bother being polite next time.  Of course he shouldn’t have been there but how many of you ride cheeky trails?  Is that only one hand I can see?

Out of interest OP, were you able to guess his age?

Unable to answer your q but did notice that it wasn’t specified where the wool originated from.

Is this for an allergy sufferer?  Have seen silk mixed with a synthetic but don’t believe the percentages were stated.  Have also seen merino wool duvets.

    Is it washable?

I really do wonder why we ever got sucked into unnatural materials for beds and bedding…

Outer cover yes but the blurb is rather confusing and it looks as though their folding pillows can be washed complete.  Mine is a different type.  However, I liberally use a pillow spray each night and hope that doesn’t permeate the wool!

Synthetic materials have a huge convenience factor, my previous topper plus current duvets are incredibly light and take up considerably less space when they need to be packed away when seasons change.  Also, wool ain’t cheap compared with synthetic!

Bought some (cheap) 100% linen nightwear and all good so far in the sticky weather.

Little review after almost one week of (hot weather) use … mattress topper has been doing a great job of not letting me overheat, a very noticeable difference compared with the previous synthetic topper.  Have been reducing then adding wool to the pillow and must say that it generally feels more comfy, can still smell it though!

Isn’t it always the way that once you’ve ordered something it gets reduced.  20% off OceanSaver products and fwiw am happy with the recent switch to their laundry sheets.

Not sure if this should be posted here but it looks as though Ethical Superstore are offering 1 day reductions on selected products.  Today you can get up to 33% off selected Miniml personal care, cleaning and laundry products.  This includes various 5 litre products making quite a saving.

How about we remove health care from the over 80s and make euthanisa much easier?

    What the heck?

I hope you’re not serious. I’m sick of old people bashing atm.

    Well said.

Just answered the door to a chap wearing a blue rosette.  Admire the chutzpah, shook my head and told him I wasn’t interested in any of it.  He laughed!!

    Great pics all!

Collected Toller puppy (not mine) yesterday and despite a few hours of driving he slept for a good chunk of the way.   Unable to take any decent pics as he wouldn’t stand still in the garden, preferring to run around.  Unfortunately he is constantly nipping/biting flesh as well as clothing which is a real pita.  Will try and get pics another time.

Yesterday my daughter handed over dashcam footage to plod, daughter not involved but was a witness to some of it.  She’s been distraught, it’s really affected her as the innocent woman driver has internal injuries and doesn’t look good.  Daughter was comforting her until emergency services arrived.  Do hope justice will be served.

This is who I used and this cube lasted months:

Also bought this one on a rope:

Honestly, this is the best soap I’ve used and over the years have road-tested many.  It’s also moisturising but without any girlie scent.

Don’t leave it to fester in a soap dish, use a soap saver and hang up to dry.

We’ve a wool and hemp mattress with a wool topper, duvet and pillows.

It’s nicer to sleep in than previous plastic fibre and foam beds and duvets. We sleep better. I rarely wake up feeling sweaty. It’s just hard to explain, but it’s a very even surface to sleep on. Duvet has a lovely weight to it.

Negatives? They all had a faint lanolin/wool smell the first week we had them. They cost more.

Thanks for this  @matt_outandabout and some interesting points made.  Will probably start off with a mattress topper and pillow, the current topper is unable to deal with my daily sweats and chills so fingers crossed that wool will fare better.  Yep, it’s a large amount of money but am desperate to sleep for more than 4 hours, if I’m lucky, every bloomin’ day.

Impressed with Savon de Marseille soap that seemed to last forever.  Both the traditional and olive soap have minimal scent although it’s also available in a variety of scents.  Available in a variety of sizes too.  Don’t need to go to France either, it’s available in the UK online.

scaredy, there’s a number of options although a gravel bike may be better than an mtb. To the west of the town is Chawton Park Wood and there’s various bridleways and byways that would make a loop. Alternatively use some minor roads to reach Lasham Gliding Club where you should be able to get food or refreshments. Check their website though cos my info is old.
Bikes can be locked to the fence and you’ll be able to see them, they’re not permitted within the grassy area outside the building. If conditions are likely to be wet then there’s plenty of lanes to use.

Thanks folks. Currently using a cabinet for a CD player and amp. Unfortunately the new amp won’t fit and is currently sitting on the floor! Only wanting 3 shelves but the nice wood ones are silly money. Will keep looking around especially at alternatives, certainly wouldn’t have thought of a granite worktop!

Yes, my desktop has had a sub for many years and it’s great for Youtube with headphones. Speakers are tiny but the sub is 20cm square and packs a punch.
