try looking up reynauds syndrome silver socks and gloves. they might work. althought the gloves might be no use for biking.

you might be right, my mate’s five is set up more for xc so my opinion is tainted by that. it’s a nice choice to be making though, regardless.

blur’s are ace. guy i go riding with has a five and i definitely prefer the blur. we have them set quite differently though. both are very, very good bikes. five is perhaps better for a more xc focus.

i’d make sure that you have some dry stuff that won’t get wet even if you have access other stuff. usually i have a small dry bag at the bottom of my rucksack with some thermals in and maybe a down vest.
dry bags are your friend as is a touch of ocd with packing up. if you are methodical it will help if things turn spiky. if i can return after a trip with everything tidy in my bag i am happy with myself. however usually if i’m on the last night everything just gets stuffed to deal with later which is not good if you get delayed another night.
i usually take some gaffer tape too.

new inbreds apparently don’t need tensioner with bolt, but do with qr. new “taperlock”. Everything’s tapered these days, it’s the new black.

although if you’ve already got a scandal, and you have had one inbred already that’s not going to be that exciting a purchase.

“ooh, i wonder what it’ll be like….oh, it’s just the same”. still an nice bike though.

    yeah, i’m no help, sorry.

when i used flats again i did slow down, but it has helped my spd riding because it forces the technique, now i like to swop and change. for a short ride i keep flats on and if i’m going out all day i’d use spds.

i’ve got dual control xtr v brakes and a 80mm fork that no one will service cos they say they won’t be able to put it back as the seals have all changed. problem is, to upgrade i’d need new fork, new wheels, new brakes, new gear shifters. new bike basically.

i have imaginary arguments with people who have annoyed me. i always win and make them look stupid, if only real life was so onesided and beneficially retrospect.

what about a laser and riding glasses, my next choice, with the prices of glasses i think it would have well and truly paid for itself by now.

moroccan flavoured couscous, mini peperami, cashew nuts and dried apricots, add hot water , stir it about, eat when ready. dead easy. i've made these in advance in bags (leave the perami wrapped). five minute feast.
