It will have it on the side of the tyre

tyre sizes are generally marked according to ETRTO (European Tire and Rim Technical Organization)

The ETRTO size specification 57-622 indicates the width of 57 mm and the tire inner diameter of 622 mm. This dimension is clear and allows for precise classification of the rim size.

2.25 RR is 57mm and the 2.35 NN is 60mm

    hi paul

currently using racing ralphs 2.25 snakeskin tubeless ready f+r on my 29er flow rims – no issues

got a new nobby nic on the sultan but not tried it much as the bike needs some work – tis massive!

previously used the bontrager tubeless 29er tyres on either flows or bontrager tubeless ready rims with absolutely no issues for several years now – acx, mud x, xdx, fr3 and 29-3 front, quite like bontrager tyres me

my xdx’s have really thick sidewalls so surprised on the nicks – must be your riding there mate :P inner tubes are for noobs dude!

I use KM’s. All OS maps are in KM’s, so makes sense to set bike computers up in KM…

With the budget I’d be looking at the on one x5 bike but speaking to them about upgrading the frame to one of their swap out frames instead

I just don’t understand it. We got the same thing from the guy on the Ogwen in North Wales. Would spent his days following people and froffing at the mouth in a rage because people were on his river. If these people just stayed away and ingored the “problem” then the handful of people wouldmn’t bother them. I can’t see how it does any harm?

Always think of Winter hill when I think of daft footpaths. Why on earth are cyclist not allowed up this road?

    Winter hill path

Fairly simple really, the reason behind it, in cold weather conditions ice forms of those huge cables supporting the transmitter – and when they thaw/wind blows hard enough massive javelin spaced lumps of ice drop on to the ground and potentially cleave you in two…

    It’s H&S gone mad man!

I’d probably take a look at replacing the Splice forks for Sektors coil u turns or Sektor solo airs spaced at 130 mm travel for around £350 new, I wouldn’t personally go longer than 140mm though on a seven old old aluminium frame, depends what you want though

The issue you have is that manufacturers have changed many standard dimensions for the steerer and the brake mounts. You’ll need a fork with a 1 1/8″ steerer though which may rule out the latest revelation forks (nearer £500) which tend to have tapered steerers, and many newer forks have post mount brake! But I think manitou forks of that age also used this standard by that photograph. Can’t tell if it has a 20mm axle or 9mm quick release though.

If your budget is smaller than £400 fitted have a look at the rockshox recon 120mm or manitou circus 130mm fork or the secondhand sales

I’ve experienced a similar thing with middleburns (recommended by Royles) who did the work – I should of waited for the race face ring to come back in stock :|

New middleburn middle ring on a race face triple crank, new chain, new cassette, horrid chain suck when shifting to the granny, chain suck reduced a bit once the set had worn a bit but never again for me, leave the middleburns for the ss

thing is, i was more after a 120mm HT – tried 80 & 100mm 29ers and a 120mm soul – just unsure about the solaris at 120mm thats putting me off

    bugger!

just convinced myself that a Honzo (and not the Solaris) would be my next frame as well

used the GH several times over the years, cheap but tatty really, but very convenient for the local trails

last years time the owner (is he always pissed?) just seemed to slate all the other restaurants in town and push for us to eat in ths hotel restaurant every night

i thought at the time – if i’m spending my cash on overpriced tourist food, i’ll be the one deciding where it gets spent thanks very much (then went straight to the Prince of India in Pebbles for our dinner)

i’d still stay there again, but he does look like a ‘lets wipe £167k of debt off’ exercise

big fan of racing ralphs and use the 2.35 and 2.25 versions with flow 29er rims and they always match the ETRTO dimensions as described on their website (i.e 60mm for 2.35 and 57mm for 2.25)

so i’d guess at 54mm wide for the 2.1’s

not travelled with the bike for a while now, but different airlines have their own rules/guidelines for the max. weight limit – last time i did the group of riders in the queue at Liverpool Airport did this – everything was in their bike bags (tools, body armour, camelbaks, spares etc.) and they had to pay big time with weight penalties

they had to step out of the line and totally repack their kit (putting body armour in their main luggage) to minimise the extra charges (still had to pay something like £100 each)

with bad luck we ended up getting the very same check-in attendent but she was fine with the two of our bikes even when they were slightly over – turned out the other group had entire tool boxes in their backs, one bag had six extra dh tyres in and were doing the old trick ‘lifting the bike bags off the scales’ during weigh in

good luck on the operation – op!

i’d just had one year out with a bust ankle tendon and missed it more than i thought i would, i’ve managed to avoid an operation, but you never know, may have to in the future if it goes again

just started riding again and progress is very slow, but slowly building things up – had my first loop round llandegla blue this week (when then weather was still ace) and it felt brilliant
