try the specialized 2bliss tyres – cheap, pump up easy, and good range (summer through to mud)

geax can be a mare to fit to some rims

imo avoid the middleburn rings on a double or triple – they are pretty crap in my experience

was looking to get this frame, got the groupset, got the fork, but the sizing totally put me off being 6’1″

way too short for me, especially after you’ve stuck a short stem on it as well, it’d be an inch shorter in the top tube than i’d normally go for

    and **** getting an XL

Get rid of the bike wash – Whats is the point?

not a question of it getting a dirty bike clean, more to do with getting it rideable again

to the OP – try the mtbr forum (the Transition section) for a bit more in depth information on the Transam 29er

slightly more useful than a stupid comparison

Only thing comparable at the moment is a 2souls quarterhorse

    or perhaps the Singular Buzzard
or what about the Chromag Surface
and then there is the Kona Honzo
hang on, maybe the Ragley BigWig
not to mention the Banshee Paradox
and the Cranfield Brothers Yelli Screamy
don’t forget the Santa Cruz Highball

i’d mention a couple more, but didn’t want to come across as a bit of an arse any more

    proper stiff shoes – nah

for me any hard impact on my heels sets it off, even walking around the house bare foot

stretching your legs helps, and getting properly made insoles for your shoes to reduce the hard impacts on your heels

    and more stretching

so many variables, but it could be huge if you had 40 years service with a final salary pension

say you are lucky and manage to get 40 years contributions into one and your salary was £60k when you retire – you would need a defined contribution pension fund of at least £1m to get near the final salary pension one

its massive, great for motorway driving but the economy on the 2 litre 163bhp is poor – 41 mpg average

mine is a 60 plate with 40k on the engine and it still feels new

slate can be reused – done it on my terrace, over 100 years old as well

strip the roof, fit breathable membrane, new battens, re-use the ridge tiles and 90% of the existing slate, pray it doesn’t rain

when it comes to resale – they can’t deduct £5k+ off the offer amount after the survey, because the original roof nails are over 100 years old etc etc

I’m curious by the idea of a lightweight 3 speed hubgear, with a gear for higher speed, one for technical (direct drive) and bailout for steep climbs.

Sounds about right. Plenty of road cyclists act like ****s when in groups.

    totally agree

seen far too often the Chester Road Club taking out young riders (13 year olds) in groups and then let them race down the Greenway in Chester (a shared tarmac path 2-3m wide) in a mass pack on a Sunday lunchtime when all the young mums and grandparents are walking their toddlers and dogs – madness

i was riding in the opposite direction and had to get off the path as well and as soon as i’d asked them to slow down, the elder club member riding at the back with the tail enders promptly responded with – “**** off” – right in front of a pregnant women trying to pull her 3 year old child/dog and elderly mother off the tarmac path to get out of their way

i ended up apologising to the family – just wanted to say not all cyclists are idiots like that

and you wonder why people have such a negative view of cyclists – and that was a proper road club

I’m 6’1″ on a large Soul with 70mm stem and wouldn’t want it smaller.

same setup as above – with 120mm reba’s – wouldn’t want it any smaller either

got a drop bar roadrat with the original roadhog fork (got used to it now)

i’d stick with 700c wheels, you can probably fit up to 45mm wide tyres, i think someone had a piccy on here with a roadrat sporting 1.75″ bontrager xcx tyres

i’ve tried 40mm schwalbe hurricanes in the past and they fitted fine, using 32mm conti contacts on at the moment for the road
