contact the police now. They should advise you

    laughs…!

my local police force (chester) was utterly useless in exactly the same scenario…. even with photos, serial numbers etc.

although in the end the winner of the auction was tipped off it was stolen (via someone off this site) so they reported it to their local police force (winsford) and e-bay (so that their bid would be sorted out) police took back the bike and cautioned the seller

best make sure you can prove it is your brothers and not the insurers (if they have paid out for it), then win the auction and get police and e-bay involved

So get a VAN R tuned to how you "like" and save yourself £350.

    spot on

plus the weight difference is a little more than 400g as well (unless you are a midget), tis nearer 630g for me

my 2007 ones have been back twice, but appear to be fine now

first time round they lost all travel when lowered in the 115mm setting, second time they never achieved full 160mm travel (more like 145mm)

i've got the rear maxle on a patriot and have considered the upgrade for a 5, but it is expensive…

on a brand new five, i would have the rear maxle, and for the brakes 180mm M4's front and back are fine

Anyway my first idea was hiring a bike from Betwys Coed and doing the Marin trail but after reading the worst rides post Im not so sure now

sorry, utter bollocks – i can't believe you'd make sure a choice based upon the some of the cocks off the this site… 😮

ride it and make your own decision please…

mission control models have the floodgate to sort out the climbs

    http://www.sram.com/_media/pdf/tuning_guides/missioncontrol_tuningguide_en.pdf

SRAM do a all travel spacer kit that can reduce the solo air travel (but tftuned are out of stock atm – give them a call)

probably best to go with someone who knows the area thb, there are loads of bits of singletrack, its just linking them together is the difficult bit

not really area way marked routes apart from the fireroads/main paths from the various car parking areas

interesting range of views (as usual)! when i first read this thread, my immediate thought was "no no, not delly – i'm not sure about that".. but i'm all for it IF it was done properly that is… but not any of this family trails crap, seriously please no…..

i certainly don't believe that delamere forest park is too small for additional trails – but don't expect to fit a 30km red & black grading mtb route into it thats all! plus using the fire roads/highways would be required if just to cross sections of the park, how much use would be generated by a such a loop, the car park is too small on saturdays anyway and thats just the families and walkers

what i would would have a massive objection to is construction of a three lane motorway <popular at some trail centres> for me delly is all about the tight twisty singletrack, the mini timber structures crossing streams and ditches, the optional trails that a littered about, and the bits you go into that the average walker never dares go near

to be any good the singletrack would need to so tight that you are constantly fighting with the bars not to hit the trees, it is possible to build such tracks through the trees it just takes a little more effort – for example, certainly no wider than that new path laid near the Go Ape bit..

problem is, it'll properly never be what a typical mtb'er wants, because someone will deem it necessary to access all areas by paramedics etc. and other users will still go on it (whether it be to walk, run, shag, smoke dope or place doggy baggies on the branches) and it'll be used by all skill levels so it'll be dumbed down

but if anything is developed i'd still ride the muddy singletrack as well, i really don't believe in the construction of man made trails to keep us off the natural stuff

    anyone remember this?

i agree with tthew, i know some of the nice natural singletrack does require a bit of work in certain sections, but i'd prefer that any new waymarked bits be new

although it does sound like this will require quite a bit of work and some time to arrange with the FC

just put a purg on the rear the the cotic last week for nearly half the price of a new NN UST (not that i'd spend £40 on a tyre anyway)!

comes up 2.2 spot on, sideways are not as thick as a NN UST, i think it rolls faster than a NN (not tried the captains) and just as grippy if not more so than a NN as well – only disadvantage is the thinner sideways so it went on the HT and not the FS

you'll need the new lowers, decals are extra, float fluid and maybe new crush washers

10mm socket, mallet and this guide kinda helps

though if the new lowers have freshly lubed foam rings you can miss that bit out

100mm to 70mm is a big jump imo, it'll make a huge difference if you have only been used to 100mm

i've just swopped a 90mm for a 70mm on my cotic soul and also 6'1" and i feel i'm too far forward on steep dh sections, so i'd recommend changing to something like a 90mm or 80mm first

okay, but its not mine anymore, sold the frame to fortunateson09 on stw but as he is a student (the great unwashed) 😉 i don't think he has been able to build it up yet…

loved mine with pikes on and a big betty up front, it had a great low centre of gravity feeling to it, but the 16" seat tube was just too small for my long legs!

it won't stop me voting out my useless labour mp in chester though

assuming you have the 2009 55R then they have the 20mm QR Torque Axle

which means you can simply keep turning them round (you'll hear repeated clicks) to the preferred position
