i live about 100m (as the crow flies) from my local city depot, and not surprising don’t experience this

but then they don’t use my usual postie to delivery parcels (he turns up at around 11:30am), instead a PO transit van is used to deliver these items at 7:30am

the method seems to work as well as suit the postie as lot of people as they haven’t left for work at that time

Interest rates must go up now, surely…

er… why? its a just a blip, and anticipated to be a temporary increase over their target rate

salaries and house prices aren’t going up at the same rate – its fuel, food, tax and raw material prices that are on the up, a rise now would only do more damage to a weak housing market

all the guessers are guessing it will be the summer/autumn period when 0.5% may get added

just get a cheap £18 one from sainsburys – nothing wrong with them, when it dies it dies, who cares its only a chuffing hair clipper not a piece of art…

i normally have a grade 1 chop every three weeks, which is about £138 pa if i go to a barbers so thats £120 extra pa to blow on shiney stuff

frame – not tried a le mariachi, but used to own a salsa mamasita – quality frames, i’m sure the el mariachi would be ace as a first SS 29er

    forks/brakes – fine

wheels – if you are planning on spending £330 on a 29er wheelset, for a little more (say £50) you could get some stans crests custom built on hope hubs, which would be excellent

cranks/BB for a SS – a square taper BB and a middleburn uno cranks can be bought for £150

main issue is that this kit is pretty much SS specific while as the shimano kit can be swopped between SS and geared

okay, now i would like to check the work ‘schedule’ before the next meeting with my boss

is it pronunced ‘shed-ule’ or ‘sked-ule’?

i use shed-ule, maybe i should start using the word timetable instead…

the inside of a full face helmet on the mega

my foot, my hand, my arm – wind assisted

a chav who jumped out and tried to push me off my bike – i anticipated he was up to something before he ran out on to the road and had a nice one ready, his mates roared with laughter at his shocked look on his face as he stood in the road unable to speak

at a guess, i’d say between £1,400-£1,500 pa for those three utilities

    gas £700
    electricty £500
    water £250

the road I parked on is called Farm Road – not Station Road or Blakemere Lane, which as Joanne quite rightly says, Blakemere Lane can be a bit dangerous (nasty crash there last year iirc) due to speeding drivers

there was quite a bit of snow on farm road, so unsure whether i was on yellow lines or not, but i didn’t get swore at for doing so 🙂

as for the idiot tag… well, i’ve been called a lot worse 😉

A question about Delamere from today , neatr the station it says parking for rail users only, and wheelclamp area, lots of cars parked there but no signs of any of them having bought or showing a ticket, the station is un manned so how do you prove youre a rail user.

be weary of the cafe owner, she doesn’t like bikers using that car park, unless you spend considerable cash in her cafe

i tried over the xmas period during the day, and she protested – i asked her repeatedly whether she owned the car park or not and whether she had the right to move me on, and she wouldn’t respond – only stating that her customers have a right to use it as do rail users – in the end she got a bit sweary at me and basically threatened to block my car in i left it there, so i moved it on to the road instead

to be honest, i know she doesn’t own the car park, a rail company does, but they don’t regulate who uses the car park (at the moment) – daft thing was there was only another four cars in the entire car park and i’ll never spend any cash in her cafe again

the problem has been made worse by the fact the adjacent Delamere visitors car park is now £6 for an all day ticket, so people are parking elsewhere and the FC appears to have a permanent car park enforcer armed with binoculars (strangely) – driving round all the car parks around delamere forest park in a FC pickup van

lazlo53 had the same rant in the run up to xmas – i can’t access the past thread now but the conclusion was – the weather was delaying the post, and the RM was swamped with deliveries, its only a FREAKING magazine so stop crying…

looks like nothing changed, so here is your teddy back again

jejames are doing cheap 2bliss tyres (think tubeless ready not UST) for £18.39

the purgatory 2.2 and the eskar 2.3 – tried them both, they seat up easy, perform as well as a Schwalbe Nobby Nic UST for grip and are spot on size wise

okay own up! who’s been riding round delamere in the fresh snow on my trails! 😉

michelin xc tyres (hospital run singletrack) and mud x tyre marks on toms tunnel! its just not on…

    excellent conditions though! 😀

shame – my ACX tubeless tyres are excellent alrounders, even in the winter

my XR4’s are huge though, and may not work on the back of some bikes – think they are 2.35 minimum, not sure about the XR2 and XR3’s – odd tread

i’d reckon for a set of cheaper tubeless tyres (if that is what you use) to try the Specialised Purgatory and Eskars – i find them to be better than a nobby nic, cheap (well compared to german tyres), and they are spot on size wise

just that the ust ones will have a more airtight carcass and proper UST bead on them – not really sure if thats an advantage though

the tubeless ready ones will only be able to be used tubeless if you use some form of wheelmilk in them as well, but as i always use wheel milk in my UST tyres anyway it won’t make much difference really

i’ve found my past schwalbe UST tyres to go first on the sidewalls, so if i need a need schwalbe tyre i’f probably be looking at trying the snakeskin tubeless ready ones rather than a UST one, providing i don’t need a mortgage for a pair of tyres

depends on where you will be riding it

29er will be more suited to off-road tracks and likely to be more comfortable due to the larger volume tyres, likely to have better brakes as well so will be more controlled on descents

CX will be faster on the cycle paths, roads, canal paths etc

i tried 130mm rev’s on my older Long model – mainly to drop a bit of weight from the bike, but found that it was much better with 140mm pikes

if you are going to go ton, then get someone who knows the singletrack round delamere to lead you round the good bits

there is loads of singletrack, and when the conditions are icy or snowy its excellent riding

updated build, now received the dual position revelations as last! and the hangers from canada, and swopped the ardent off the back for an eskar

a reverb will be tried out on it in the new year , the stinger is not so great and does move about a bit, so going to lash it to the chainstay with a tie wrap
