One thing that the banks have proved consistently, is that they can run bloody rings round any legislature. As soon as new regulations are put in place, they’ve found a way round them. Normally in ways so mind-bogglingly complex that few understand them.

i thought normal practice was to load the new tax indirectly on to the customer

therefore is this scenario of the robin hood tax on large city transactions – basically its the pension funds that’ll end up paying for it – so in theory my pension gets used to pay some greek pension 😆

    Blame it on France….

    okay then!

germany wanted to UK to play nice, because merkel doesn’t want to be left just dealing with France, the problematic southern europeans and the liberal others (think sweden/denmark/poland)

germany sought after a full treaty change that took time and had all 27 up for it, france doesn’t – and was quite happy to go with the dirty, quick and easy route to change the treaty and strengthen the core 16 nations the most and marginalise a big european player i.e. the UK

my gripe is that is wasn’t done properly, with an negotiated solution for all 27 – it was dirty and quick with a threat to the small players like poland to sign up or you too will be out of the club

and the EU wonders why the UK is so hesitant about europe…

what i find strange is the EU strategy on engaging the uk into europe and its currency

the french appear to be forcing the uk to the margins and out of the single market all together, basically if you are not willing to sign up to the club 100% then bugger off

they know that the majority of brits are not interested in ditching the pound, signing over more sovereignty and increasing rules and tax – and on the political side its an even bigger mess

the game was loaded from the start, the EU even pushed this recent treaty change via the back door to avoid any nasty referendums – how is that democratic?

france is using the euro problem to intergrate the 26 further, but when it comes down to it, the big nations like france and germany get the most out of it

like the ‘cheap/strong/light – pick any two’ saying – the UK has ‘pay up/lose sovereignty/marginalised – pick any two’

got the apple leather one in cream on my ipad2 – nice cover for the screen, doesn’t protect the back but the biggest downer is that it gets dirty very very quickly

DC’s body language said it all…

and france and germany have played a cracker, and are simply pointing the blame elsewhere – ‘oh those horrible islanders for not joining in and doing what we tell them’, whilst really they are the ones that:

-pushed the hardest for the euro
-benefited the most from the good times
-didn’t short out the massive difficulties of the varying southern/northern economies
    -then didn’t police it properly

so now we’ll have – lomg time low rates, low spending (investment), meaning long debt repayment and increased inflation because thats what banks really want for debt repayment

are different weight springs available for it?

    chunkypaul

right – just measured up my manitou 2″ 700lbs spring and its max free length was 126mm

wound off the screw on the shock to the maximum and that dimension was approx. 138mm so in theory those nukeproof ti springs (2″ and 2.25″) would just fit my Fox Van RC

i’ll have a look at mine tonight, got a 190X50 van rc on my five

can’t remember which biffa spring I’ve got though, something like a 650 or a 700 – being from yarkshire i bought a cheaper manitou one for £25

think from memory i thought it would take something around 130mm-ish but don’t quote me

have you not measured the van rc?

+1 RICE and ago and see a physio asap

back in april i had something similar with my ankle that lead to seven months of no riding, constant pain and swelling – seven months of weekly physio, led to a visit to an ankle consultant for one x-ray, one ultrasound, one steroid injection later – turns out i had ripped my peroneal tendon afterall

twas the consultant radiologist who actually discovered the tear though

find out the total amount you are due in your claim, eg. £1,500

get a written quote from another lbs/bike supplier on something you want (for a similar amount) and not just something wheelies has

tell you insurer/loss aduster that that is what you want

spend the cash on what you actually want

after over ten years of orange (good coverage but terrible cs when it came to upgrades)

then a few more with o2 (good deal on an Iphone 3G, shame O2’s 3G signal didn’t exist)

i’m now with 3 and have no issues whatsoever; coverage for me is fine, if anything the best i’ve had – no issues with billing etc.

while as for my work mobile (Orange) coverage is getting worse with their deal with T-Mobile (turning off masts in an urban area) and now hardy receive an orange signal, just a poor T-mobile one

i generally go though shoes (typical work and causal boots) every two years, so the cost is typically £40pa not including resoling etc.

i’d like a pair of Trickers Maltons but at £340 a pair they definitely would have to last ten years

riding shoes however are a different matter, typically mine only last around one year
