but also something which is quite important is that ticks find it more difficult to attach themselves to your legs and around these parts there are some nasty tick diseases you can catch.

You got tarmac Ticks where you are?

Ton, great thread to start, I’ve been in a real rut/hole for a while and this whole thread is inspiring- not just the exotic overseas stuff either.

Chunkymtb, that lake reflection shot is FANTASTIC.

Yeah that was a pretty special day. Last day of our trip so we decided to do some pics as we hadn’t really done any all week.

That was taken by a mate (Leon) with a DSLR – once it started working again due to the cold…

Cant believe someone is questioning professional cyclists bike control, wonder how fast they can ride their keyboard, only on the internet

Yup, but not worth arguing with pro’s like JCL the internet hard man of riding.

No change to the Lefty, plenty of clearance when I took the air out and slammed it down.

The rear shock was shimmed from 110 to 100mm.

Yep, not bad for a 7yr old frame.

Shame Cannondale didn’t release a 27.5 Rush, the new one is basically a Rize.

My Rush is 27.5. It raises the BB a bit obviously but the BB was insanely low anyway. It’s nice mile muncher now.

A new lease of life for the old bird.

I go mega early for road rides, get my kit ready the night before and munch a banana before going out. Works fine for rides 2hrs and less, usually grab a coffee mid point.

I go mega early to avoid the hoards of riders. It’s nice just returning home having done my ride as the Colnago, Pinerello Sky Riders are just stretching into bulging lycra 😮

It’s great you love what KTM are doing, there’s no need to be quite so defensive of them. Easy on the superiority complex from ‘working in the trade’ and that too, makes you sound a bit arrogant IMO. Any who, this is getting daft, I’m out.

    Was basically my point.

Your shop was full of KTM’s I noticed Mboy, are u discounting now everyones waiting for the 2015 models?

Good few months away yet, and whilst some of the range is all new for 2015, some it looks like are just cosmetic and spec changes. Always a deal to be done to a good customer though if you’re asking…

The chain looks too long on the first bike.
& it appears to have one wooden spoke

1×11 XTR by the looks of it, so the cassette probably necessitates that long a chain.

The wooden spoke is the in trend for 2015 so I’m told. Start whittling now!

+1, they’re perfectly ok, but look like generic carbon frames with stickers on. Which I imagine is just what they are…

It’s a huge amount more than a marketing exercise and buying someone else’s open mould frame and slapping some stickers on. Frames are all designed in house by KTM, then made in the Far East, before shipping to Austria for painting and finishing and being assembled into bikes. Finish on these bikes is top notch, I’ve been in the trade a number of years, you won’t see a better finished Trek, Giant, Specialiazed or Merida say than you would a KTM. They’re up there in terms of quality. Quickest bikes to PDI ever, which if you’re a mechanic in a bike shop, is a god send!

hink more old giant moulds, tweaked. and with the latest fibre available

There’s a lot of TCR about the Revelator if you will, but there’s enough unique features to it to mark it out as being an individual design. Geometry is very close to a TCR too, but little touches like the seat tube meeting the BB shell forward of its centre line, to allow a 405mm chainstay but keep clearance for bigger tyres too, are very unique. The replaceable mech hanger is also a unique part too (don’t worry, spares readily available), and the tapered head tube is in the vein of most of the newer aero road bikes in that it only tapers to 1 1/4″ at the bottom rather than 1 1/2″.

    There’s a pinion hardtail

Well spotted that man! I hadn’t picked up on that one… Ooooooooh… Can’t wait!

Do you work for KTM or something? You could write their marketing guff for them.

They look ok. The usual open mold generic stuff pumped out from China though.

My chinese open mould HT is just as well finished as any big brand I’ve ever had. About £1000 cheaper too.

You don’t have to be in the ‘Trade’ to understand or see quality 🙄

was on holiday last week and i had propped my bike up outside a cafe whilst the GF and i grabbed an ice cream. sat there in our normal clothes and two German “enduro” lads came along and went into the cafe. overheard them talking. one of them started talking about my (admittedly rather loud) DB Alpine…. saying that you can’t do anything on a HT, it was just a show bike, 2.4 tyres on a HT were pointless, blah blah blah…

i sat there smiling with the GF about it, talking in English, obviously.

sawe them the next day at the top of a trail. followed them in and shouted at them to move aside. they did so. got to the bottom and expected them to arrive before the GF, but no, she arrived laughing at how shit they were. we stood at the bottom for another minute and saw them coming down, brakes squealing. shouted “faster!” at them and rode off.

    i felt smug.

oh, and the GF’s riding has leaped forward over the past few months… i’ve got a new riding buddy!

Mods please move to the UK companies haven’t delivered so I’m on a forum whining thread, how about buy something else?

    Weird post.

You come onto what you think is a whining thread to whine.

People talking about bikes on a biking forum shocker.

Then you create a whining post. With the word irony just to cover yourself.
