  • Did YT just leak a new bike in their message about the Covid-19 lockdown?

Ray was an absolute legend and a true gent. He saved the holiday for me.

Went to Riviera last year and TrailAddiction the year before. Both were excellent, but Riviera edged it for the more natural untouched trails and they probably felt longer descents. Fast and furious riding. I don't think we did the most technical stuff out there but it was the most fun riding I've done.

Why do people get upset if someone doesn't like their bike or component choice? Unless its badly maintained and you're getting slated for poor maintenance then just accept, not everyone will love your bike as much as you do And just cos Ray didn't hold your hand…(well, why do people post these semi-mysterious comments without being prepared to tell the whole story???)

And my girlfriend has just looked over my shoulder, read the posts and gone "oh my god, its more bitchy than a bunch of women"….

So, someone who has a different opinion and experience to your own it's classed as bitchy? Did your girlfriend really say that?….. Really?.. Oooo my girlfriend has just looked over my shoulder and said "oh my god (you know, girls always say that), someone has a different opinion – how bitchy!" etc etc..

People don't have to go into lots of detail to justify an opinion.

I'll politely say that I didn't like the guide. I've come across the same opinion not only from the group I rode with but with other groups too. So everyone is different and guides obviously make or break a holiday.

You liked the holiday, others didn't. Get over it.

So what is the mysterious hand holding comment about Ray? Where did the hand hold thing come from? I'm interested. You seem to know something?

I hear there are some other people starting up soon in that area, so hopefully that would be another option if people want to ride down that way.

Well this is a public consumer forum so everyone is allowed an opinion. We don't all live in the world of the gingerflash's.

    That carpet…..!

    The HORROR! THE HORROR!

    (Great bike, though!)

The carpet might be a horror story but his kid probably has better local trails than you…

Check out the end of the valley in Les Arc. Sainte Foy, much preferred it to the Riveirabike stuff. More techy trails, just about everything with no disjointed uplifts. Better guides and atmosphere.

Anyone can operate in Italy…. Riveirabike is often all about one person…

Depends if you're more concerned about what other people think (of the bike you ride) or you're more concerned about just enjoying yourself on whatever you ride.

You could go uber niche to fit in with the stw masses. So some steel, rigid SS or gears with thumbshifters.

Depends on the mechanic at that particular shop. Did you get a PDI form? If so it will have the signature of the person who done it, then you can aim your rant in the right direction. Seems a bit lame to me to tarnish all Halfords the same. I know a couple of great mechanics who work at different ones – certainly better than some LBS's.

They aren't really a proper bike supplier anymore now. Which is why they have stock problems I think. The shop in Putney/Fulham is mainly a running shop now (SBS). They sucked when it was Bonthrone the bike shop, they seem to suck even more now. Staff in there don't have a clue either. They could probably sell you some running shoes though.

superlight, I bought my current bike on the strength of an MBR Bike Test in 2007. They were all built-up with identical components to rule out any differences there. The test included a Turner 5 Spot, Ellsworth Epiphany, Orange 5 and Cove Hustler. The 5 Spot and Epiphany scored 8/10, the Hustler and Orange 5 scored 10/10. At the time I owned a 5 Spot and was very pleased with it. However,I was curious as to how good the Orange and Cove must be to achieve those scores. Not long after, I had the chance to test ride a Cove Hustler at Llandegla which I know very well, so could let loose without worrying about my test route. The result was the purchase of a Hustler (secondhand 2006 model frame) which I still ride every week, and enjoy as much now as the first ride.

I can't comment on the Epiphany, but I do own an Ellsworth Momnent, which I love. But still does'nt fulfill the Allmountain roll of the Hustler.
