Imo coil shocks should be used more, people spend thousands on bikes and stick with the relatively basic and poor performing air shocks such as the RP23

What sort of cotton wool world do you live in? I own a very ugly bike but I don't give a fudge what anyone thinks because I like the way it rides. They reckon the reason Kings last so long is because of the give on a worn o-ring – saves the bearings. Downside is it eats my steerer too. Cane Creek S3 running on my bike, no issues.

The problem is caused by King avoiding the dia-compe patent with that o-ring. I believe this patent runs out soon so King steerer scoring might be coming to an end. For the record I've had a King headset chew two fork steerers. I'm sure it's fine though.

For years I used a cardboard bike box from my LBS, just pack it the same way a bike is packed from the factory. Although now I have a proper bike box. I always phone whatever airline I'm flying with to confirm that I'm taking a bike, also check in as soon as you can. I've taken bikes all over the world with no real issues. It's not a stressful as you might imagine – obviously make sure you have good insurance for piece of mind.

Are you off to the White Room? If so you're in for some cracking riding and hospitality. The thought of Iona's homemade cake is making me dribble right now.
