I use an aneroid barometer. Tap it and it’s always been accurate up to 12 hours (tap, needle moves anti-clockwise, getting worse, moves clockwise, getting better).
basically, it’s seaweed but more decorative
EDIT – close your windows overnight then open them. If the curtains blow out, the 6 hour forecast is worse than it is now. If the curtains blow in, weather is improving.
These are both highly localised, so likely to be more accurate in the short term and local vicinity than the national forecast, but way off outside a 5 mile radius

The end was nigh when the plastic bag with the toy in had to be in the box but outside of the bag of cereal.

True, but those times when you opened the box, took the plastic bag out, got the toy and put the bag back then watched your little brother opening the bag and getting more and more wound up by not finding the toy which HAD to be there because the bag wasn’t open….

Alarmed disk lock – portable and noisy – but not the Aldi ones, I’ve had two just fall apart. Oxford do a decent one IIRC

oh god another ernie/ninfan posting the same old drivel at each other thread. Have either of you ever thought about stepping outside and getting a bit of a life instead of just posting the same predictable pish over and over again?
Or get a room and consumate your relationship?

Could get a 5m bell tent for that. Easy to poor up and get resale value. Love ours

4M bell tent owner. Had it up in a force 5 and (apart from the noise) was faultless. Option available to fit an internal room divider and is fitted with wood burner. Up in 10 mins, down and packed in 15. Has always been waterpoof but needs to dry out after getting wet
TBH only bought it because I was being threatened with a caravan but it is awesome and I love it. A fellow camper saw it and dded the phrase “tent envy” to my vocabulary

IANAL but I believe that the markings were a requirement to prove your speed when radar calculations were less reliable than now. Today’s machines are more reliable so markings not required where more up to date weaponry is used. I think most road markings are there now because there used to be an older camera there.

Second going to angling shop – there’s a few round here and all very friendly and helpful – not just on kit but on where to go as well. Got a basic casting lesson from one of the shops when buying a second hand rod.

One of the works pool cars is a Jimny and it’s sh*t. It’s slow, uncomfortable, noisy and shakes and rattles like a bag of bolts. I can’t imagine how anyone could put 100k miles on one. I’ve heard they’re pretty competent off road, but have only driven on A roads in good weather so can’t comment.
OH had a Vitara for a while, totally different thing, quite liked it

Read this and couldn’t help wondering if the 5 years was for killing a cyclist or for trying to weasel out of it by deleting the call record.

Surely you don’t want to miss out on all the fun whingeing about not being able to afford holidays because travel prices “mysteriously” shoot up when the schools are off and everyone else with kids is trying to boom a holiday as well?

(The amazing Falkirk Wheel coming soon)

I thought they’d already done that – anyway, I drove through it last year and it was even more amazing than it looks. As is the Poncysyllte Aqueduct.
FWIW, you can hire a boat for up to 12 people (8’s probably the best number though) for a day trip to the Wheel and back from the Linlithgow Canal Centre – £150, self drive, 10 mins tuition if needed

if the cyclist was in the drops he would possibly be obscured from view,

Where? There are 4 people in the drop, all clearly visible, where would a bike have been hiding?

    I’m a massive fan of Sony’s readers.

My mum had one of those and loved it. 2 years old and not holding a charge so she took it back to the shop to be told the fault was the battery and it couldn’t be replaced so she’d need to buy a new one. Told me, I went on Amazon and £15 battery and half an hour with a screwdriver later and guess what? Talking shyte. So, good device but don’t listen to the shopmuppets
