There’s a steam railway round there as well, never been on it, but would imagine it’s a great way to see some awesome scenery
Also, Ben Macdhui (second highest mountain in Britain) is doable in a day

Crap service is a blight on this country, and our idea of protest is to sit there quietly tutting.

or to keep going back for years accepting it, not saying anything and be surprised when it doesn’t get any better?

I can imagine it now… “I’ll just turn the light down with my phone app”. “Oh hang on, wifi’s not on”… Goes upstairs to turn on wifi. Comes down. “Ha, now I can change the lights without getting up!”

What you need is way to switch your router on wirelessly. I’ll be selling wi-fi monkeys for that very purpose once the funding and throwing crap everywhere issues are sorted

Don’t send them anything but demands for money and threats. Anything else makes them think you’re taking them seriously.

Dont respond to letters as they will then know who was driving the vehicle,

Write to them telling them that,as they have not provided any evidence of a contract being entered into or broken, and that if there is such evidence then their dispute is with the driver of the car at the time and that that driver may or may not have been you. As a result, you have decided to decline their kind offer to allow you give them some money they are not entitled to. However, being a reasonable sort of chap, you are prepared to allow an appeal at a cost of £250 regardless of the outcome. Any further communication from them, other than an indication of no further action or communication from them, shall be treated as an appeal and subject to the appeal charge. Any appeal not accompanied by the relevant payment shall be rejected out of hand, but shall still be subject to the appeal charge. No discussion will be entered into regarding the decision of the appeal process. Should the parking operators seek to engage in further communication, such communication shall be returned to them, at their cost, incurring an administrative cost of £25 per returned communication.

That should shut them up, it works for me.

Epaulettes are better than chips for shoulder decorations, but not as good when smeared with brown sauce and served on a roll.
EDIT – and you’ll have to take my word for this, but if you were here you wouldn’t stay cos my farts are totally minging right now.

    No riding but..

Taking my mum to Mallaig because she likes trains so we’re takinmg the train fom Glasgow (very scenic, Crianlarich, Rannoch Moor, Ft William, Glenfinnan and the viaduct, Arisaig). Orginally mentioned by her because she’d found out that you can get any return train ticket in Scotland for £19.99. Turns out only if your > 55. I’m not. Take mum to station tp see if I can negotiate a better deal than the £40 each way that’s on line. At station, best is £100 return.
“I can do better than that on line”
“Hold on, I’ll see if I can find a better deal”
“Sorry, what’s the deal for the £20 return fare”
“You need to be over 55”
    “What about nearly 55?”
    “How nearly?”
    “54”
“Close enough, that’ll be £19.99 then”
    RESULT! I love our railways

Finishing the day with a glass of Highland Park – bottle finished, Oban next.

    Yup, it’s good.

One, about 12′ long, swam/swum/swimmed past me close enough to touch. Never having seen so many teeth in one place before, I resisted the tempatation
