When I got Robin Williams’ rider, I was very surprised by what I found. He actually had a requirement that for every single event or film he did, the company hiring him also had to hire a certain number of homeless people and put them to work

For some reason that doesn’t surprise me
    RIP again

There I was driving along a not that minor road and there, very close to the edge, was a bloke wee’ing up against a fence. He only had to walk a few yards then he could have splashed his way around a large forest.

    Why Not???

I’m guessing the right answer is because as humans we all need company, for one reason or another if you get what I mean, but on a lower level why do we put up with the needs & lies of others just to have company you just need better friends?

Apeks 200m dive watch – £80. Mineral glass with glass slightly recessed below bezel and stretchy rubber band. Tough, looks good (IMHO) and well under budget

The 916 is very simple and sparse on detail, the MV’s got too many flourishes for me. The NR is a bit chunky and looks more 4 cylinder than VTwin

Watched the first 30 mins then switched it off. Still as dull, pointless and self-Indulgent as ever.

So if you never liked it why watch it other than to give yourself a reason to make a dull, pointless and self-indulgent post ?

In our attempts to use the private sector in surgery, the private sector were a joke, Huge staff turnover and eventually punted due to consistent adin failings (they used nhs staff for all clinical work so the only savings they could make were on the admin side). That said we’re also outsourcing radiology reporting and that seems to be working ok. The difference is probably that surgery was politically driven but radiology fills a gap in that we can’t recruit enough consulatant grade radiologists, so the question I’d be inclined to ask is are you moving your safe job and pension to a company dependamt on next weeks political whims.

Mobile operator complaints – from OFCOM

Orange/EE for around 15 years, packing it in at the nd this contarct, unbelievanly shite “customer service”, including, but not limted to numerous (3 in one day) cold calls after being told that persisting with cold calls would mean I wouldn’t renew my contract. No customer service email address, but I did find their CEO and marketing directors email addresses so emailed them quoted Data Protection and OFCOM guidance that any more cold calls would result in my terninating my contact and suing them for something or other (OFCOM told me what to say).
Bloody shame because Orange were brilliant and I ecommended them on here more than once..

Will it be a stressful experience?

    No, partly because

t’s the most fulfilling thing I’ve done with my life

    and partly because

if you want to be any good you really need to dedicate about 30 minutes a day to it.

*although I’d have said an hour would be closer to the mark. And for that hour, you need to put everything else out of your head and concentrate on your music. So it’s like meditation.
Theory seems like a pain but just learn one scale – don’t bother trying to understand what it’s about – and play about with it. When you do, you’ll start inventing riffs and get the picture.
Don’t bother with bagpipes unless you live in the country or have a soundproof house.

    visit the Pantheon. Just staggering

find a place to watch the door and see how many peple duck when they look up and see the hole in the roof.
The Sant’Ignazio Church, off via Corsa. try not to look at the roof, there’s a disk on the floor in the middle of the church, stand on it, look up and be amazed
Check out the Caravaggios in the Santa Maria dei Poppolo at the top of the via Corsa
Tickets to the Colloseum get you onto the Palantine Hill where the Caesars lived. Interesting enough but with some excellent views over Rome and the Forum. Below the Palantine is Circus Maximus, not much there but you try to imagine the Ben Hur style chariot races.
How long have you got? A freccia rossa (red arrow, mach .25+) train will get you to Naples for a day trip = visit to Pompeii/Herculaneum

Is this somehow linked to the lunar calender

Not really, we pass through the tail of a comet (Swift-Tuttle), and the meteors are debris from that. space crap, so to speak

    ChubbyBlokeInLycra

    And a champion full moon,

Technically, no ‘ it’s a waning gibbous moon and even though it;s a supermoon (closest to Earth), the average brightness of a Perseid meteor is -2.7 meaning that if you can see stars, there’s a a good chance of seeing meteors. The shower will last a couple of days, peaking on sunday, but the bright supermoon does mean you’d be better looking from Sunday on

Was with Orange for over 10 years and, until last year both coverage and customer service were excellent. Since then, where coverage os still ok, I’ve had dealings with custemer service and it’s amongst the worst I’ve ever had to deal with. trying to stop cold calls, you need to contact in writing and have a record of the request – but no email addresses. That’ll be why they top the polls as “worst” and “most complained about” mobile operators. I’ll be binning them as soon as this contract ends

    ChubbyBlokeInLycra

Vodafone are actually one of the worst (if not *the*).

I think Orange/EE can claim that title

Different types of boats there. Rivers = smaller, more manoevarable, sea = larger, less manoevarable. I’ve got a P&H Capella, great boat for the money, used it on a canal and lochs but it’s too big and cumbersome for rivers. That said, boats are like climbing boots, you really need to try thek out. Where are you? Sea kayak Oban do weekend paddling trips around Oban where you can trya number of differeent boatds and see what fits you. Glenmore Lodge do the same. If these don’t work for you, there’s bound to be somewhere closer

That’d be the Falkirk Wheel. Impressive bit of engineering

Driven a canal boat through it a couple of times. Absolutely awesome

Have you ever seen the Queen’s lizard tail ? No of course not, that’s because she can take whatever shape she wants.

No she can’t she just hides it under her skirt. Ever seen the Queen naked? Or in a basque and some sexy lingerie? Ever wonder why not and what she’s hiding?

They have nothing. They have no roof above their head.

Guy who lived upstairs from me a few years back used to go out begging. So that’s not always true. There are some beggars with problems and some chancers. Maybe start by avoiding the sweeping generalisations on both sides, tricky as that might be.

Did Lllangollen out of Trevor as well. The aqueduct was busy, but well worth it. Canal got quieter after that. A few decent pubs at the water side. There was some kind of boaty festival on at Ellesmere so we didn’t stay but just parked up at the Meres which was a lovely spot.
Hire was from Anglo Welsh. I’d recommend both the canal and the company.
