Just off viaCorsa is the Chiesa di Sant’ignazio which has the best ceiling in Rome, better IMHO than the Sistine Chapel.  For best effect, look at the floor when you enter the church.  In the middle of the chhurch is a small bronze disk, stand there and loo up – the heavens will be looking down on you

awwww – Johnny Alpha died when Carlos stopped drawing him because he didn’t like the direction tthe stories were going. Strontium Dog was the best with the artwork being no small part of that.

    nice one, mogrim

30 = 30 seconds. B or BULB is open the shutter and keep it open until you close it. For example, on a clear night, mount the camera on a tripod, point it at Polaris, use the B setting and leave the shutter open for an hour or 2. The stars will move, creating a “star whirl”

1.6″ is probably the exposure time (1.6 seconds, long exposure)
F16 is the lens aperture – how wide the lens opens, bigger number = smaller hole, so F16 is stopped down to a small aperture. This increases depth of field but means longer exposure times to get the picture
ISO is the film speed – how long does the fim need to be exposed to get the picture. Higher number = faster film = shorter exposure times and/or smaller apertures needed. With film, slower film speeds tended to mean richer, more saturated colours so better for landscapes. Faster film better for sports/action shots but harsher colours

Gas stoves have 5″ diameter flues whilst woodburner/multi-fuels normally have 7″ flues. BUT look for “DEFRA approved” stoves which are woodburners (not so sure about multifuel)with 5″ flues.

Utter nonsense and great fun. Saw it in 3D, probably wouldn’t bother with that.

Old school – bows and arrows, but just because there’s a larg
e hook by the door that’s just right for hanging one of the bows and a quiver from. Bows not strung so not ideal for a quick response, looks wicked though

This, in the NE of Engerland ‘brambles’ are blackberries. Rasps are rasps & strawbs are strawbs.

    Same here – Scotland

Bramble bush in neglected patch of my garden is just there, I’ll be doing bramble cranachan.
    Toast some oatmeal
Mash a decent number of brambles with a fork
Mix some whisky in with the brambles
Whisk some cream with a blob of honey and most of the oatmeal
Fold the bramble mix into the cream mix in individual serving glasses
Top with big juicy berry and the rest of the oatmeal

Traditionally done with rasps, but sooooo much better with brambles IMO

It looks like it. Emailed them telling them I would not under any circumstances be paying them anything, that any attempt to take money from my bank account would be treated as theft/fraud and reported to the police and that in the event of any interuptions to my power supply I’d move out to hotel and bill them for it. They responded with a compensation offer.
Start with his current supplier though, they’ll want to keep the business and might sort thngs out

The usual suspects seem to have gone quiet, why aren’t we being told how successful he is,and how wrong we are?

Sure chewk’ll be along bragging about smart he is for not taking the bet on Trump not seeing out a full term.

We also did a day trip to Rome but it’s not the best place to start from. Three to four hours on a coach, max three hours in Rome, then another 3-4 hours on coach back. A bit like staying in Leeds and taking a day trip to London

Good idea, but it’s only an hour on the fast train (Frecciarossa). Trenitalia web site says 1 adult + 1 child on 16/10 Naples – Rome = 30 Euro leave 9AM, arrive 10:10

Take an evening wander up Spaccanapoli/via dei Tribunali stopping for pizza at di Matteo or Gino Sorbillo. di Matteo is very cheap, basic and excellent. Sorbillo, less cheap, less basic, as good/better

Also, allow half a day at least for the archeological museum. A lot stuff from Pompeii/Herculaneumis on display there.

Trump defeating ISIS, now you’re just making stuff up…or were you making a point about fake news/false promises

Nah, there’ll be some schoolboy’s homework someplace about how Trump singlehandedly defeated ISIS, built a wall, had Hillary Clinton thrown in jail and saved the world

So maybe you can explain how being born into money is a sign of intelligence?

    Straw man[/quote]
That’ll be no then? Still, at least you’re having fun listing the things Trumpy’s been spending Daddy’s money on. How about freshening it up a bit? You can always add Trump Shuttle, Trump University, Trump Taj Mahal to your list.

Nearly 2 hrs pf phone calls later.. My supplier had contacted Utilita explaining the situation bu Utilita refused to release the switch because a”valid contract exists” for them to supply my power, in spite of my never even having heard of them far less discussing switching supplier. I call Utilita, explain that I don’t want and will not pay energy supplied by them, that their staff or agents are not to set foot on property etc, etc. That gets them investigating. Ahhh, it turns out that, where I live in house, no 53, someone in the flats across the road (no 52, a different postcode) with a different name was switching. Wrong name, address, postcode yet they still refused to hand the supply back until threatened with legal action. incompetent ****wits – be aware if you’re planning switching

Maybe one day your frankly weird sociopathic obsession with having constant arguments with the people you feel have slighted you will allow you to live as a normal member of society. Imagine that?

Pizza’s ideal for sitting dow, but if you’re snacking on the hoof try arancini – stuffed rice balls coated in breadcrumbs so they look a bit like an orange (arancia in Italian) – are easy to eat whilst out and about, tasty, cheap and filling without being sleep inducing.

And if you like ice cream, Gay Odin is worth a visit

Weekend – dependant. Kayak needs roof rack, dinghy needs towbar, not available on hire cars

    Kildalton Church and Cross

The cross is an 8th Century wheel cross and one of the very few with an intact wheel. Also worth a visit for the cafe – Cakes At The Cross. A picnic table, some coolboxes with cakes and milk, flasks with hot water and an honesty box. Lemon drizzle cake and a cup of tea here is beyond words

Someone I know was in jail and shared a cell with a guy who was in for burglary. He’d broken in to a house and stole a stereo and big TV. And phoned a taxi to get it home. Taxi driver dropped him off and called the cops who arrived, lifted the criminal mastermind and were returning the goods when the homeowner returned

I know, wouldn’t it be much better if we followed the example of other EU countries and nipped riots it in the bud by using Water cannon and CS gas?

..or just burnt their houses down then relocate the survivors further away from and out of sight of the rich people?
EDIT I am ninfan and I claim my £5

Sold my boat years ago when tax rates went up and I left the UK, money I used to spend went into my pension. Another example of tax rises having the effect of reducing tax revenue

..and leaving the EU will curtail freedom of movement so you have to move back to the UK and pay your tax here. Well done you, you must be looking forward to the future

Should she park independece until such times as she’s managed to prove the snp can effectively run our country.. Absolutely.

You know that the reason the SNP exists is to campaign for independance, and that once that aim is acheived, the party is dissolved and we get to vote for our new government?

I hope she stays. With every utterance from the knuckle dragging terrorist supporting ****wits she’s aligning herself with and with every condition she fails to meet in the exit negotiations, the more the turkeys will realise that voting for Christmas probably wasn’t so smart after all. So, stick in there Theresa and kill off any chance the Tories have for the next couple of elections
