Was brilliant! Made even more brilliant by the fact we saw it in the IMAX cinema, incredible bass and visually that film was superb

Looks like it’s just embedded into the site’s links. Sure they’re aware of it now and working on it….. confirmed only happening on WiFi connections… updating IOS wouldn’t make any difference at all

Thanks for the HU, the carbon would be too much and I’m looking for brand new too, will keep an eye on your site though

I would love to mate but the reason for the shed is the reason for my post….£8k’s bikes stolen from our last one, no room to store the bikes in the house either…

Ideally I’d want the shed, an airsoft gun, a fake ditch behind the garden full of nettles, broken glass, Tabasco sauce, nail boards and oil but will make do with a hardcore bike storage unit

I did ride a Carbon Giant with carbon wheels in my price range at the demo day and it was only when I got home that I realised it was so quick to get moving because the wheels were Carbon……. But possibly I do want something a bit rarer than a Giant. Wish YT would bring our their 2018 models!!!!

That’s a bit too much is 3k really, my limit is about 2.6 as I’ve upgrade to a better road bike too. Plus we have an Asgard shed to buy….. £600 worth!

Looked as though the Propain too which was incredible when is speed it online, but the rear shock because of its position would need regular servicing, probably more than I’d want to give it

I’m in East Yorkshire matey, have seen a cheap enough Santa Cruz 5010 but I’d always be seeing Pro’s on the CF ones and knowing I couldn’t afford one. I have seen the intense spider 27.5 cheap so that’s a good option . Also the nukeproof mega pro 2017 but can’t seem to find a relatively local dealer to demo…

Do love the Radon swoop 9.0 and I suppose I bought my TR without riding that……just decided that the next time I bought i’d try one first….loved my TR but I needed the larger size really for long rides although it was epic on the downs!

Sure there’s plenty of content on dirtmountainbike, here you go. He did incredibly well but I just hear all the cheering for him and he’s not racing for points so why not at least acknowledge a few….. https://dirtmountainbike.com/videos/watch-gee-athertons-foxhunt-gopro.html

All I will say, and this isn’t being stereotypical but sometimes I feel uneasy either riding past two or more young men that haven’t got bikes and especially if some were asking for directions…… it all depended how they looked/acted whether I’d stop tbh…. this comes from someone riding a local small bike skills area on his own near where I used to live, two lads stop him on the trail, assault him, steal his bike…..they are out there. I’m friendly but also learning not to be too naive

That’s really what I meant too, if I was spending the money to ride against pro’s then I’d want it to be pro’s who weren’t too fussed where they came but we’re still trying, so long as somehow they made as many people as possible think …..that was top drawer and those riders were a different gravy, I saw the Martyn Ashton speech at the cycle show and i came away thinking he was an even nicer fella than I expected. Next time i think if you’re videoing the whole thing then it’s gotta be rowdier!

Was at a JE James demo day the other week but had virtually no bikes I wanted to buy, wish I could testride a few of these really good bikes in the right size! The Commencal colours are a bit plain and my transition just looked so damn good with contrasting red/black…. have looked at the Bird but they are a long way away from me to go demo one…

You’d just think for something like that with no pressure to perform he’d just have a laugh. I think Downhilling by the sounds of it is such a mental battle because your head has to be in it and getting injured must be hard to get over.

I suppose I shouldn’t be so harsh I’d just expect him to enjoy himself more but he does just actually take it more seriously I suppose….still oozes talent though!

Actually I think I’ve got my vids mixed up, was 2016 he unavoidably rode into a lad on a Nukeproof…. no-one’s fault but you’d expect him to shout “you alright” but nothing…. yeah maybe I’m being swayed by Rob a Warner style riding or Claudio….who are top drawer! Claudio for 2018 please!!!!!!!

I’m at that stage where I can’t decide, been thinking of the Radon swoop now! Looked at a Propain too but the shock location ain’t good for UK filthy riding….even though apparently they’re incredible to ride!! Anyone else having these indecisive moments?

Also was very keen on seeing what Nukeproof brought out for 2018 but when I saw them at the cycle show I was not that keen on the silver/red one from a colour point of view and definitely don’t want a 29er which the other model is…..this is basically putting my thoughts on a forum post instead of keeping them in my head!!!

I did look at getting another Scout but I think they’re either a bit too much or a bit too large in the XL… the reach was perfect on scout but I have long legs and Felt like a towered over it on the flat trails… I’d need to ride one to know. I’m looking to go longer travel hence the Capra idea, my mate has a CF Capra but I do love the good beefy welds of an Alu! Some of the stuff I sent the Scout down it ate it up but thinking for Gnarlier stuff more bounce would help!

Budget around £2.5k absolute max as I’ve got a more expensive roadie than the one that got pinched too. I nearly got the Capra last time but rang up Wheelbase asking about the tranny, next thing I knew I’d spent £650 over my budget on the Scout when the YT would’ve been enough for me.

Have looked at the Bird, Airdrop…. i loved the 2016 commencal’s with the two tone paint but this years is just a bit plain, and no dropper I don’t think!

I’d just really look as quickly as you’re able to as we’ve booked accommodation for next year’s downhill world champs and booked it one year in advance

Yes for sure tried all those shops, done most of them to death. There were plenty of spares and great parts that could be bought but a lack of buying helmets that aren’t fullface. We’re going to have a crack at gunpowder which is the opposite side tomorrow….we heard that the blues on the other side are more flowy.

Also the Wonderboisses trail I think as seems like an enduro one to wake up the “climbing” leg muscles a bit haha

Only thing I really want as a MTB helmet (not fullface) I can’t find anywhere as they’re just fullfaces. Can anyone recommend a place that is actually a full on bike shop? Guess there isn’t one locally they’re all hire and have virtually no helmets that aren’t fullface to actually buy . Found one in the best bike shop in tignes centre but it was a cheapie….

You’re very right and I hadn’t thought about that, well the blue for me was fine but pretty tricky for the lass, mainly the really tight and steep switchbacks from what she’s used to, did it with a bit of tutoring from me though and is happy to carry on now but was definitely a development on green haha!

Nice one, it’s surprised me how different the trails are graded to over in the U.K….. but goes to show that people were right when they said a blue here is a red at home…..glad we can get onto blues though as there’s SO many of them! Will try get some photos up on here for anyone to see what it’s like too!

Brilliant thanks a lot well we actually did the Popeye yesterday from Val….we were the only ones that set off in driving hail and rain, it was wet but so flowy and fun, had to stop about 10km in because gf’s hands were shot from braking….5 mins rest then got back on, forest trail at the end was just ace too!

We’re going to do a Smoothie green and then jump on a blue I think n cut and then I reckon full blue, Just avoiding the jumps for her, is it possible to take the easy chicken line on the jumps? I’m sure it is but just want to check……jumps look well signed anyway from what we saw….

Well we’ve just got to Tignes yesterday, just done a GREEN called Smoothie which was more like a defenite blue with red bits in if we’re comparing to U.K. Almost no pedalling needed!

Has anyone got any recommendations for which trails to go into next? I’m fine but the gf is a bit more than wary about not being pushed too far out her comfort zone.

Only two trails in tignes closed at the moment, a green and a red…all others open!

Nice thanks Jamj! That looks spot on! Surprised they don’t include one as standard.. not so bad on trails but I uprooted a cricket ball sized rock that pinged off my frame! Luckily no damage done but hit home I needed one!

I bought a Scout the other day and it’s my first full suspension bike. Absolutely love it, feels so good at speed, took it upto the Dales and put it through its paces. You can just point it at something and it will just lap it up!!! Only issue is I need a downtube protector!!!

Thanks too Towzer, that is the other option but I’m going to see how successful I am selling the bike as is. Next bike is a lot more money so I need as much as I can!!

Thanks I appreciate all the feedback, it’s what I think is best too…. admit the forks need attention however everything else is sweet! I know bikes that squeal and squeak and this is a great bike so someone will get a great runner!

Got mine from DFS, L shaped in a dark grey, quite modern looking, love it and got the firm cushions so it doesn’t collapse after a year. Did get duped into the protection though and that lumped another £200+ on top of the £700 price tag….regretted that but it’s just £30 a month so can just forget about it.

I’ve got the Fox Enduro’s, really comfy, not too much actual firm protection but they’re a “just in case” product anyway and will definitely save my knees when I do fall. Not tried any others so can’t vouch for them though

Totally agree, absolutely crack up at this, shame Rik Mayall isn’t on anymore though he was brilliant in it!!!
