Thanks Ashy just wanted to say I took your advice…. moved cable through the cable stops when they were loosened and up came the seatpost! Took it all the way out, greased the seattube slightly so it moves smoother now should I want to actually move the physical post about (probably rare) , only issue I’ve found is the spring action is even weaker now so it definitely needs a stronger spring in the mechanism I think!!

Ahh that makes sense tbh as the cable doesn’t ra ttle around suggesting that it’s fixed in position at the front, pulling more through then tightening it would allow the post to move up more….I’d check tonight but it’s blowing like crazy out there! Now all I need is a stronger spring on my dropper too as it won’t stay fixed at the top position due to the spring inside not being strong enough!!

I assume the cable would be a fixed length and didn’t think that pulling it from either sideOr making any changes that way would help but then again the last thing I maintained with cable was a V brake many years ago

Yes I actually think there is so if I pull some more of that through that essentially gives me more cable does it

yes that’s the design and i have a feeling the black outer and indeed the cable is just at full stretch so the post physically can’t come up any higher than 1 inch, thanks YT!

Hmmmm it’s internally routed through the frame and goes in through the headtube and i don’t think it sees daylight again…

Thanks for the suggestion i’ll take a look tonight and see if anything can be done with that

Ashy as far as i know it’s Cable, not loosened any cable clamps as i’d expect the length of cable can’t be adjusted from that alone but i might be wrong

Sorry forgot to put it in, it’s an E*Thirteen post. They are internally routed and a cable connects to the bottom of the seatpost from what i understand.

Found a few teardown videos but nothing shows how it’s actually connected.

I wonder if it was a disc slightly out of place….lying down might’ve stopped it pressing against a nerve? I pulled my back years ago, you’re lucky…I’ve resigned to mine never being right but it only really restricts me as for example doing the pots gets my back aching after a few minutes….really need a dishwasher I think!! Glad you’re cured anyway

I have an issue with my Golf GTTDI (2001) in that randomly when it wants to the turbo just stops giving boost, turn the engine off and back on and it fired back into life, if you drive it carefully after that for a bit it doesn’t do it again but when you drive it as normal (accelerate strongly up a long motorway hill etc) it’ll just drop off again a few times in a row…. very annoying when t does it. Usually does it at the worst time too…. going to a wedding or getting to Wales to go biking etc…

I had a Scout before it was stolen. 2017 model, amazing bike, looked the mutts nuts, so good throwing it down steep loamy tracks….. I follow them on Instagram and if you don’t you should. They’re hugely capable bikes, mine had hope wheels and hubs and I do still miss it but this year’s model was just a bit too expensive for me to stretch to….. My advice, get one haha! Not sure about that year one though

For my studying I bought an ex business PC with an SSD and 4GB ram, I’d suggest getting 8GB for it to run well on W10.
It’s what we do at work, when a PC needs refreshing swap for SSD and increase RAM. It’s these machines when they get upgraded that are available for sale

Hi just as an update, my Capra has arrived, took around 2 weeks from order. The large frame is the right size for me too which is a shock but it does just work. I think I must have short arms!!

This is sad reading this, lost 4 bikes £8000’s worth a few months ago, still hate that some scum either has or has sold on my bike for less. No sight of them as yet and they’re on stolen bikes website too….

What? So they’ve scaled 6ft and then 3ft of wire fence and still got over… unreal!

So I’m guessing by this, the bikes were outside but well locked? And they got past those…. it’s so annoying! We’re getting an Asgard shed after having them stolen from a measly wooden shed

Hmm I did look at the Jeffsy, not the 29’ers…..not a fan myself much prefer 27.5.
Maybe the XL might be better but I can’t see how a longer reach would be better for me if I’d be stretched like I was on my Tranny

This is what I thought too but his bike looked quite a bit bigger than my last one and even when next to each other when I had the TR his was a taller bike, height of seattube etc and then when I rode it I realised that the XL would’ve had me reaching far too much. I think I must have quite short arms!

I may be proven wrong when I get it but I’ve confirmed the geo of the 2015 I rode to the 17 one and there’s virtually nothing in it. It literally is different for everyone but their website does say Large does fit upto 6’2.

I had two other cyclists with me too and they both agreed that the XL would be too big, the L feels the right size but also chuckable too!

Seatpost wasn’t too high and had slight bend in my arms while in the saddle. Whereas my last bike had me fully stretched in the saddle so definitely not the right size. Get the feeling I have long legs but short arms….

Well……bizarre post! Found someone with a Capra in Large…..fits great! Not too small at all, so just ordered it while they still have the stock in…

Not being able to ride has absolutely sucked and can’t wait for the delivery!

Plenty of reviews of the jeffsy, the MBR review is good too but haven’t ridden one myself

I am looking at the Swoop but the 20 inch of the 8 is sold out. I am confident that it may come back in because previously the was only upto 18 available and then when I looked today they had 22’s in stock! Maybe the 20 will come back in!

Thanks so much fellas, definitely sounds like even though I thought I could get away with an L I do need to be an XL to be really comfortable! Which is a shame as I don’t think they’ll be back in stock, sounds like I’ll definitely have to look at another bike, another one of my options….

    Look at this…ridiculous!
Spec comparison against my old Tranny L

    Will Large be right !

That’s a good shout il check out that forum, I know it’s my choice and I tend to prefer a smaller frame so it’s more chuckable but don’t want to restrict movement, last bike was a Large….

Also the YT has a 3mm longer seattube which would give me more room for my legs as it makes the frame taller as such, and also the XL isn’t in stock either :(

    chrisyork

I think you might be right but something is taking into account is the Capra has a higher front end with 30mm more travel than my last bike.

Not sure if you can see this but this was how I was on my last bike, if the cockpit was higher surely I’d be less stretched

    Last bike

Road rage can be caused by absolute idiots not driving to the conditions…..I get stuck behind a car doing 40 most days holding up 6 or so cars that are all trying to get to work, needless to say they usually all get passed safely….. but it’s people like that that are too selfish to care about anyone else

We go spectating at the dalby one, never ridden in but have walked in on unmarked paths before and got to the stage then just past the Marshall And walked upto the spectator area, you see quite a few people just appearing on the stage at various points

I always use both brakes evenly really….keeping nice and loose on the bike to avoid the front wandering too much….

Yeah great, went to order the swoop 8.0 and just seen that the 20” is now out of stock….absolute bollocks!

I’ve had a similar debate with myself, and yes Tomaso i agree. At a demo day i tried a Reign XL as their Large was out….wow it was HUGE! i’m 6’2 and the reach on it was way too big for me, think i have short arms and octopus legs tbh…

You’re totally right, welcome to me….it took me two months to find a sofa……the only things I rush into are bars and takeaways !

Sounds like the Geo it’s good, for climbing to get the leg extension on my TR I had to have the seat really high which meant the frame was too small.

Just seen I can pick up the same model of my Scout for £2.2k in extra large but thinking I should change as checking the Geo for that is similar to the XL Giant Reign that I rode which was way too big!

I’ve not read all these posts but I’m guessing people are moaning about the site and redirects and lack of response. I think it’s pretty unfair as the website may be hosted by another company, it’s likely looked after by one-two people regarding maintenance…… If those people are on call even on a Sunday they have to be paid. Deb’s and admin’s are far from cheap so that would just increase STW’s outlay putting more pressure on the mag to succeed. It shouldn’t matter that much that a site has a temporary issue for a few days.

Just my opinion, it’s possibly been classed as not critical so doesn’t need out of hours work, if it was a DDoS attack which brings down the site then that would be classed as something being urgent attention.

I’ve stopped getting redirects I think, I know how this works as I work as a desktop engineer. Someone rings up and I try to help with an email issue with them thinking I can just fix it, but it doesn’t work that way when other parties are involved too, wherever has been done it seems to have worked so nice one!!

Our will I get a redirect when I try to post this hahaha

Thanks I’ll beat it in mind……..one thing that REALLY pissed me off is I had hope wheels and hubs on the TR as it was a free wheel upgrade from new, so the bike wasn’t heavy at all!

From looking at it each replacement is going to be heavier…. I absolutely despise thieves!

Absolute bastards! What do you mean the courier stole it? If that’s the case can’t they look at which person was doing your drop and then bring them in? They should be able to but I bet there’s some stupid law saying they can’t…..
