Oh those ladder stays look like a fantastic idea! As you say, if I’m stable I’m fine with that to be honest! Last time I was nearly up that high I was literally jackhammering off render! This looks like it’s only 30 min job by the looks.
Just need to find a dry few days and borrow some tall enough ladders locally as ours only go 3/4 of the way up. I’ll weigh off against the pasma tower too thank you

We’re also looking to do this as well, have got accommodation with free cancellation about half an hour away. We will have a 1.5 year old so the chances of riding are fairly minimal. There’s the Tour de France too I believe the same week so planning on making it a long trip and getting some of that in too

I hate them too… the only time I tolerate them is when they get me out to town for meeting friends for a few drinks and food… as you say, it’s not the train it’s the people that use them

Stunt kite…..ha ha ha. Don’t even go there, I have one, was bought for a fun present by the other half after a few years of us being together, it’s gathering dust! For whatever reason it just wouldn’t fly!! Even on a windy day it went up and then pardon the expression, but I couldn’t keep it up. No-one could 🤣

Thank you, my worst fears…. Being that high up the ladder is very scary!

We prioritised getting the scaffold down ASAP as it was up 6 months and we were heamorraging money from it. Hadn’t realised its significance not being a roofer myself, only now do I see that the water will have literally eaten away at the brick over many years and likely why they rendered the lot!

Also got to re-fit the car port plastic too when I get around to it!!

So now I look at this it could be bad gutter location as it’s clear to see that the front skew runs off onto the gutter, the rear can’t as there’s no gutter there due to the Downpipe being at the back and not the side of the house…

I suppose the only thing there is that’s a good metre from where the door is. That’d mean the water ingress has essentially damped that whole wall area and is gradually getting worse.

Ever wish you just left things as they were 🤣

So I think you’re likely on the money to be honest, you get so used to these things when you see them say to say, but yes I reckon if it’s a skew it’s called then it could be that, as you say causing the water to run down the wall off the roof there rather than onto the ground from height as such.

It was in place before the building work but was loose so we took it off and didn’t re-cement it back in as didn’t realise how beneficial it likely is.

I will add too, so before we had the sandblasting done and mortar removed there was paint on those bricks so the paint I wonder was possibly actually masking a problem that we now only know about now it’s all been taken off and water can now ingress where it couldn’t before….

carport is steel and fitted to the wall but has sealant above the metal as such to stop water ingress. Got a few mins now, so I’m wondering if this green patch shows where the water is in excess possibly running down the wall that didn’t before?

Sorry folks it’s been very busy with the little un and illness so just got around to replying. A pic of the side of the house, so the door is the bottom white bit and it’s just left of that as you look at it, inside where the damp is.
when we had the mortar done we did see the bricks above on the corner weren’t in amazing condition but could this be the cause?
Also the end of the tiles on the corner may be a cause too as I know the end dropped off and instead of re-fitting we just concreted it flat.

Well I’ve just this weekend got a Regatta hooded down jacket from £60 down to £30 and it’s brilliant so far. Not puffed up like a Michelin man but is shower resistant and nice and warm….

well recommended

Agreed, Detectives was such good Tv. What an ending though…. Without giving it away. Just wow, not in the way I’d have expected.

The Met also does wonders on cleaning up the negative press they’ve faced in the past too

So looking at this again (it’s actually less hard to tell in person but the top left mortar does look decidedly darker. That is where the weather hits, however the house is brick wall and nowhere else suffers! Bizarre how if it is that, it’s not drying…

It’s truly awful isn’t it! Usually caused by as you say lack of fuelling, I remember it happened to me on a road ride and I felt so sick I just wanted to lay down, close my eyes and have the ground swallow me up to stop it!

Luckily it went away after a few minutes, but yeah I just make sure I do what I can to make sure it never happens again…

Hope not! I’m a time trialler!

There’s as many of us on roadies as well as aero bikes now and it’s torture at the time but feel so good after…. Ours is actually a 60mph limit that is a bit scary tbh as it’s the road to the motorway so sounds like ours will remain.

if I’m honest I’d be fine as my average speed is usually 19.5mph so I’d be under the limit 😂

I’d say that you’ll probably be okay, but yes a bit like our place either Finance or SAM department may come to you asking if you have it and if you can reset it anyway if they want it back then you just reset it again.

If they manage it through Intune/Workspace One they can wipe it whenever they want but it may be that they don’t have that level of control of it

If it’s not been mentioned, for the glass there’s an AutoGlym Fast Glass too where you spray on and then wipe off with either a microfibre or kitchen roll

If there’s exposed roots etc then that’s proper mountain biking! I do love Gizzy, sorts the men and ladies from the boys/girls for sure. Not been for years but last time we went really enjoyed it!!

Lots in North Yorkshire, I will say this though they aren’t bothered about you really….however when we were in the south of france those bastards were on a feeding frenzy! Even got our nearly 1 year old about 3 times!

Thanks folks, I totally agree new bike option wasn’t there though as we have 4 bikes in the asgard already, one not in and the garage is stacked…

We did a national trust MTB route the other day which was the first ever time I took him in what they class as a berm… ironically her whyte HT she got for it, got a flat by the time we hit the cafe stop as it’s not setup tubeless!! Also he can’t go on mummy ‘a bike as she’s little with short reach and even me being over 6ft he was tickling my chest with his helmet….

Probably the least fun bit but also funny, was when he turned around and saw that my nipple was worth a flick or too…… REUBEN I’m trying to concentrate you funny boy! 😂

That’s the thing, I know it well. A 9 month old doesn’t do a whole lot, lots of looking, smiling, babbling, leaning, but yes I remember being at 6 months into the new journey and I was tearing my hair out just wanting to get out and ride with him, even having the time to ride myself would’ve been nice so makes easier if you just bring the nipper along!

Thanks but the point is here for very young babies. They can’t be on a macride when they don’t even understand about what holding on is… which is mainly my point, so this post is for pre-macride and Shotgun. For when they’re very much relying on you and basically can just sit strapped in and enjoy taking in the world around them.

I found not alot of advice and found my own (expensive) path to making it happen, if my experiences can save others the pain then pleased to help!

See I watched it and thought no, this is over dramatised. The parties can’t have been this full on each time, what got me the most too was wine time Friday…. And if the table meetings went like that then I’m stunned…. Nobody can think of anything? Never mind it’s 4:30 and WTF!

I do look forward to what is hopefully even more coverage from these events, mainly so we more get a scale as to what it was like. It’s easy for some wanting a quick Buck to elaborate the truth somewhat for a better story.
Surely it can’t have been like that… as some have said, definitely one to raise blood pressure

My missus I think is luckily too focused about going back to work after one years maternity.

She’s NHS so worked all the way through it, horrendous! Came home, clothes off at the door straight for a shower before I got to see her. PPE existed of cagouls in summer for the Covid wards and people almost passing out from heat exhaustion.
It was pure hell for her and them, daily she’d be coming back to say “4 people died today” , “they lost 15 at the weekend”
Truly horrendous.
This party should have all just been sacked from running the country

I also couldn’t believe it, how one group of people could just keep having parties and get together with each other without being sick of the sight of each other…

I know in my job I love my workmates but there’s a strict home/work divide!

I would like to think the parties were embellished somewhat on the prog although the truthful reports were just damning…

Security guard going in to tell people to change to outside, or to turn the music down…. While we were all at home unable to even go out. Absolute cretins, how the f*** did they get away with such small fines when you had people just desperate for some social interaction getting slammed with £14k fines… where’s the justice there?
That I think is just absolutely disgusting and this prog should bring up more anger and have those fines and people in attendance much more heavily fined/dealt with.

It was the cuts between Downing Street party life and the Covid realism that shocked me the most… thank god someone spoke out as that was just abhorrent

My mobile is Tesco and I’ve enabled wifi calling that appears to work, not that I’ve been able to 100% test it does as we do get a scrap of signal in the house anyway

It’s the DMR Defy 35 in black. Bought it to gain another 15mm on the stack when I was trying to get the weeride to fit and it’s never been used

So…what this also means is we have a Thule 08 key to sell.
A DMR low stack height stem to sell and the Weeride to sell, and steerer adapter bracket 😆

Strongly recommend the thin bars…. We have the Yakima ones on both our cars. Drove to France the other week with a roofbox on, still getting 45mpg and usually around 49. When the bikes are on you just don’t hear them too

Leeds is our closest city, at 11am I’d be driving in. Traffic will be fine, I hate trains with a passion so I’m biased. No I don’t want to listen to other peoples tinny music in a tin can of all their odours….

As had been said, Trinity car park right next to the station, very likely you’ll need to go to the very top but you get the joy of visiting Trinity Market for food on the top floor while you’re there. Great little food area (actually it’s big)

Trinity though brings you out to the station and just down the road, if you want…. You have a Pieminister too… what can I say I’m a foodie!

Thanks DC, ours came with the screen too. It must be the thin mount that the screen doesn’t work with is it? As surely Thule wouldn’t make a bike seat and screen that can only be used on cheapie bikes!!

Will see tomorrow anyway, if the screen is needed I’ll get him some DH goggles instead. Surely they do 100% goggles for a 1 year old…

Another photo, of the front. If you press the grey button in the mount jiggles a bit but I’m assuming the key releases that. I can’t see any Allen bolt that locks that mount to the main seat

IMG-7357
