Haha that bloke in the Orange was quite funny, I guess it’s not his channel it’s Dave’s? Or is it?
chrisyorkFull MemberAhhh glad I’m not the only one! Some of the older MTB vids get a bit samey but when you’ve got people speeding up videos so they sound like chipmunks or doing absolutely bonkers tricks on bike that’s what is interesting! Love the Semenuk stuff etc… but just almost like it to show more personality! Suppose one person who used to be great for that was Warner, oh and also Peaty, yes you’re right Dirt got me wanting to drop my seat and just ride the wheels off my bike! When Mcroy does that manual it just still fills me with respect!!
chrisyorkFull MemberYep, ours gets moist too on the roof, assumed there was nothing we could do, we have nothing regarding insulation in, just the bikes. Usually get dried and put away after washing so will still be damp as such… we just live with it based on the fact they’re tough as… and assume there will be no problems
chrisyorkFull MemberI hope it isn’t true that it was already pinched, noting would give me more joy than to steal a stolen bike from a thief and try to get it back to its owner 👍
chrisyorkFull MemberI’ve been converted to riding with trousers with the Royal Storm pant, got them in the sale for £70. Truly waterproof and with a combo of sealskinz you aren’t getting wet feet at all….
My mate has the endura singletrack Ones but when it gets wet his trouser legs get soaked and then his shoes do too…
With trousers I really think it’s worth paying to get that fit that’s right for you
chrisyorkFull MemberMaybe I’m not putting mine under same abuse but my X1 on the Capra has been great! When I’m riding I’m always thinking about the mech going through tight stuff because I know how much they cost haha!
chrisyorkFull MemberYes tbh that’s a very valid point, it’s mainly the distance i’d have to travel. I think i’ve only maybe read two reviews in total where the training didn’t work for those guys.
Jedi does get a huge amount of feedback very mostly positive, for me though i’m going to stay local so i can easily get back should i want more going forwards…
I think one thing, whihc is hard is when you get used to riding a certain way and then someone tells you you’ve been riding wrong for most your life, it takes a bigger person to agree with it and work on changing their technique.
Just looking forwards to not either slowing down before jumps or squashing them!
Thanks for all the replies, still waiting to see if there’s availability for A-Line but whatever i do i’ll be hope than happy to put my feedback up here!chrisyorkFull MemberMore great feedback! I’ve been to Dirt Factory and have to admit that there were plenty sending the jumps, not sure if they’d done the training or not but i reckon a few had and they were really good or at least were demonstrating the basics!
Joe Rafferty is an interesting option as Harrogate is where i ride quite a bit anyway so i’ll look into that.
Jedi may be worth the trip but if there’s just one way of him teaching and if it’s not for me then i’d get little from it.
Think half a day is better then as people say, your head is full of info and nothing stopping me doing half a day, going away, practicing and if needs be in a few months going back to see them if i’m having any issues
chrisyorkFull MemberThat’s really useful advice thank you, i think it’s between A-Line and Endeavour coaching then, just deciding about full or half day now as a private 121 session…
Any reasons why a half day wouldn’t be recommended?
chrisyorkFull MemberJust checked, I’ve been pwned on 8 sites…. that’s my bucket list complete then!
chrisyorkFull MemberPostfender.scot have some really good ones. Friend has one and works so well
chrisyorkFull MemberI recommend the yorkshire cycle hub too, it’s just near Fryup and the cafe’s spot on, great bike shop and they can even recommend some great routes too….roaring fire when you get back too!
chrisyorkFull MemberThat’s great thanks for the suggestions! I can’t believe that Whyte fit such a shocking dropper lever, I assume the later models have better ones!
Looking at the ZTTO ones so really appreciate the recommendations :)
chrisyorkFull MemberJust got my storm pants delivered the other day in Large.
I’m 6’1 and 34-35 waist and in the waist they fit nicely, like how they are quite high up the back too keeping the back covered, the waist fit just makes me realise I need to lose a bit of tub to get them to fit really well, and in the leg stood up they are down to my ankle but will ride up a bit on the bike, with waterproof socks though should remain bone dry!
Got fox enduro pads underneath and they’re not too tight and also I’ve got mtb calves, not massive but not none existent and got a bit of room there too…. first ride at the weekend so will update, unless it’s hot in which case the shorts will be out hahaaa!
chrisyorkFull MemberChipps, the Enduro was ALL about literally racing to the bottom of the trail as fast as possible and gave you a time for every stage. Then you got a time for the combined stages.
It was a good job that the whole thing wasn’t timed as some of those hills on the transitions were horrible!
Stage 1 end to get back to the top was horrible!!chrisyorkFull MemberAhh is that right? I was sure they were available for much longer than that.
It is crazy how little time you have though.Goes to show we’re all racers at heart too as like someone mentioned, there were still lots of Sportive tickets left when the Enduro’s had long sold out this year!!!
chrisyorkFull MemberJust bought some Royal Storm pants yesterday as were in the sale.
Keen to see what they’re like!
chrisyorkFull MemberBy 9:12 the enduro was sold out!! As much as I love biking it really frustrates me that people have to absolutely hound the website at 9am because it’s so popular!
I remember last year that the tickets were on sale for a month I think, 12 mins this year haha!
Got onto the waiting list, I’m not negative because I didn’t get an entry and even though it is fantastic for the MTB community it’s just a shame that you have to be so so fast to get into an event.
Will see what other events come up if Boltby is a no-no. Don’t get me wrong too it was fantastic last year and no doubt STW’s amazing review as well as other publications have made it so popular.
Well done for the people able to get a ticket in time, it’s a good ‘un!!
chrisyorkFull MemberHere you go, i work just outside of York. On Piccadilly which is one of the main street in York is something called Thors Tipi…..it’s a Tipi which has a roaring fire in it and a bar, loved the mulled ciders in there! There will also be lots of Christmas stalls and Food stalls too by then
chrisyorkFull MemberMy hairdresser cuts hair for a guy who has a Lancia Delta S4, He turned down an offer of £1 million for it from Sotheby’s auctions.
Has had Every rally car under the Sun including escorts Metro 6R4 etc
chrisyorkFull MemberWho’s been? Has it been a good one? Nearly went to see if I could get some bargain or at least a good selection of riding trousers for these colder months….but couldn’t get there! Next year I hope!!
chrisyorkFull MemberDon’t get a chromebook…. you want an i3 or i5 intel processor or an AMD one, an SSD hard drive around 120GB or more and 8GB of ram
chrisyorkFull MemberCan’t help thinking that you’re missing the point, he’s not an actor and doesn’t confess to be….. if you listened to the downtime podcast he even said he’s learning lots about public speaking….he does his talking on the bike and the way he rides it if you ask me.
For me it was the opportunity to have an icon of MTB taking you into his world and I just wish that Loris was there for the Leeds one too….some uk people have been very lucky!
chrisyorkFull MemberI’ve got a Madison one but tbh I’d say in winter have a merino later underneath to wick the sweat away and so long as you’re warm that’s the main thing…
chrisyorkFull MemberAlso I went down at the interval and he was just there, shook his hand, had a brief chat and wished him the best….just a top bloke!
chrisyorkFull MemberYes went to see the Leeds one, he’s always been one of my favourite riders!
I don’t think it’s fair to knock him, he’s admitted he finds public speaking the hardest and is always learning and I actually loved hearing just how involved he gets in bike design and changes. When you ride that bike you can think Greg Minnaar’s had a big say in this!
I’ve seen Peaty’s talk and pretty much know what to expect, they’re bike riders not entertainers or Rob Warner but it’s that respect they get for how hard they work…. recommend that, then go home and watch Vision from Veronique Sandler!
chrisyorkFull MemberOuch i really feel your pain….
No recommendations, i just feel your pain… i hate public transport full stop.chrisyorkFull MemberReally gutted for you, I sadly know how it feels. Live in a sleepy village and we were targeted the day before a weekend riding in wales ON MY BIRTHDAY. £8k’s if bikes stolen, never seen again…..I have heard of people being lucky though so fingers crossed for you
chrisyorkFull MemberJust look for somewhere else, place sounds like a pain in the arse, only real way is an Asgard shed…..around £500!
chrisyorkFull MemberI saw Stainburn mentioned earlier…..hands down the hardest XC route I’ve ever done. I’ve not done many but definitely showed me where my weaknesses were! There’s some good short off piste stuff up there and the red is a real workout that’ll bite if you’re not switched on too… as with everything there’s some climbing to get you back up for another go! There’s a soft Ard-rock route from near Reeth that’s really good which we did a year or so ago…amazing views and some good techy stuff, takes you past all the old mining area and what I think were ovens…
chrisyorkFull MemberJust reading Romesh Ranganathan’s book at the moment and has been making me laugh by the pool every minute….well recommended!
chrisyorkFull MemberWe’ve not had this by my gf’s has had some of the sealant turn into balls…. like when you spin the wheel it sounds like ball bearings in a tyre ha!
Anyone else had this?
chrisyorkFull MemberI’d like to put my twopence I’m on this, before it was stolen my Transition scout had Guide R on and in Tignes doing alps riding after 2 days I needed to take them to the shop and they did a quick bleed for me which sorted them!
I’ve got RS on my new bike and although they seem much better I still have an issue where if the lever itself gets hot (direct sun for a while) it doesn’t like returning that well to the rest position !
chrisyorkFull MemberCheers hers is an XS T130SR 2017 as she had her T130SX in XS stolen.
Your idea sounds about right though and I reckon the grommet is almost too watertight it barely let’s the cable move through for small adjustments so easily bunches up!
chrisyorkFull MemberBrilliant thanks, we were hoping to not travel anywhere further than the distance to Coed as it’s only for a weekend. Thanks to everyone for the advice….happy for any other info to be given
chrisyorkFull MemberThat’s some great advice thank you, we’re from Yorkshire so looking to go further afield than the peaks or hope valley, we actually did the broken road ride the other week!!
Also trying to find a site which has electric hookup for tents, it sounds silly but when your shoes are drenched then it’s the only best way to dry them using a heater and there’s a group of us going so it just makes the job easier etc.
We are considering Glentress though, Coed y Brenin is actually where we were going to go but the campsite near the Forest doesn’t have any electric hookups…
First world problems eh!
chrisyorkFull MemberWhat’s really grinds my gears is idiots doing 40 in a 60 then when you get to a 30 they’re doing 40…. take their licence off them please. Hitting someone at 30 can kill them, at 40 there’s absolutely no chance….so so stupid! Sometimes you just want to throttle some drivers!!
chrisyorkFull MemberI think it was stage 2 that had a section into a wood, a corner and then there was a steep left hand corner with a rock after it, there’s two lines, the left is over a rock and a tight line, the right is loose and loamy….speed isn’t your friend with that one… the track is exactly the same as last year too
chrisyorkFull MemberHaha what a legendary thing to do! Did many take you up on it?
Just finished the practice, wow it was fun!! Hard work though….
also the photos, will that be rootsandrain do you think? Can’t wait to see the photos….do they usually take a while to upload before we can see them?
