Rode Caffall on Monday. Looks like they been doing some trimming so most the trail is clear again. All totally rideable.

We are heading there tomorrow. Does anyone know if you can still walk down the side of the track from the gondola to the bottom?

We usually take our jetboil when we go walking for hot drinks. It has a handy plunger accessory to make filter coffee which works pretty well.

Does anyone have a GPX of a route that takes in the best bits of the various trails at CYB?
I rode MBR a few months ago and found the last few miles on fire roads to be a disappointing end to an otherwise enjoyable ride.

Thanks so much for the link – Treated myself to an 830. Absolute bargain 🙂

I brought an uuni Koda a couple weeks ago and it has been superb.
Very easy to use, just get it lit, wait 20 mins and you are good to go.

Sorry for hijack, but what pizza dough recipes are people using?
Currently we are cheating by buying the frozen dough balls from waitrose.

A colleague tested positive last week. He said he had a cough for a day and some very mild chest tightness but that was it thankfully. No fever or other symptoms.
Just shows how broad the symptoms can be.

I have a 2019 Vitus E-Sommet and to be honest I can’t fault it – been using it for a year now and no issues yet.
It’s perfect for me where I can ride from the doorstep but its a bloody big and muddy hill. Means I can get a quick one hour lap in after work, whereas it would take longer on a ‘normal’ bike. Still enjoy riding my other non-ebikes though and as summer approaches I will start using these more. They all have their place.

    Sorry to hijack.
I am passing by this area early next week and was hoping to sneak in a ride for half a day max.
What would be the best route to get a taste of riding Torridon?
    Thanks

I was in the same predicament.

Ended up getting the Voodoo E-Bizango as it meant I could have a play on the way home on the local trails and bridleways etc. It offers a half decent spec for the money, especially with discounts.

Having an E-bike has transformed my week from driving to work everyday to riding most days and then the girlfriend rides it at the weekend whilst I’m on the ‘normal’ bike.

    That’s a great idea! – sadly I can’t see that happening in Abergavenny 🙁

cheers guys, some good suggestions there.
Glad to hear you can keep within the speed limiter and not get too warm – I ride the route for fun on my cx bike but I don’t think I could ride up the hill to get to work and not feel knackered most the day – especially as I would like to cycle several times a week.

I have been looking at the Voodoo Bizango Electric Mountain Bike from Halfords as it seems to be the only 2k bike with a vaguely decent spec (deore) and a good bosch motor – does any one have any experiences of it?

Thanks for the replies so far.

I tried to get it to match my previous bike but the geometry is a bit different so hard to do.

I have tried a few of my saddles but it still persists.

The cranks are both 172.5mm, all my other bikes have 170mm – so this could be it?

The hip pain is a dull pain that continues for several days after riding – it seems to affect the hip joint area only – there is no tenderness though

Sorry for slight detour but does anyone else find with the trailskin 1 pads that the plastic hexes keep coming out the the fabric front, especially at the bottom third of the pad?

    Great thread.

We are thinking of going next February so these suggestions are really useful.
What’s the best (cheapest) way to get from JFK airport to New York – I have heard the taxis are very expensive?

    Thanks!

How are people finding the t130 with fox suspension? There is a nice looking bike on pinkbike but the MBR review on YouTube seemed pretty unimpressed with the fox over rockshox.

Interesting topic. I’m wondering the opposite – I have a nice VW T5 van but am thinking of going back to a car, something SUV sized. As much as I like the van, we have never slept in it and it would be good to get a car that has a much more comfortable drive.
I still haven’t decided yet, but do feel a van is a bit excessive for the once or twice a month I have to drive somewhere to go biking, or the yearly holiday to Scotland etc.

I like the idea of the caddy maxi life, but can’t quite get over how it looks..
I’m guessing SUVs – whilst looking bigger probably have less usable space in the rear compared with a touran?

seifahmad – what sort of MPG are you getting? Will be test driving a 1.6 soon

Thanks for the info so far guys. I’m still very much in 2 minds about this but I think having a comfortable car may win over the van.
I’m probably letting bikes and the convenience of putting them in the boot put too much emphasis on choosing a vehicle, but I have always been reluctant with the faff to use bike racks etc.

Got one in January and I think its a great bike. Really fun to ride and the wide handlebars make it feel really secure on the more bumpy stuff.
These days I prefer to ride my Friston over my MTB unless the terrain is really rough.

We removed ours when we moved into our new house – was a bit of a mistake as it meant that the room had to have the old wallpaper removed then be repapered, painted etc as there was an obvious gap where the rail was. Not ideal the week before Christmas. That said, it looks 100% better without.

Thanks OP, 2 pairs of shorts arrived and fit nicely.
No haribo this time though 🙁

If they last as long as my current endura shorts I will never need to buy shorts again 🙂

Hey Welshfarmer, That’s a very kind offer and would be great if possible. Yes we have now moved to Abergavenny so am free most evenings / weekend if I can take a look at the bike.
    Thanks again!

BT customer services are simply the worst I have ever encountered. For that reason alone, when we moved house we went with sky.. who when we had a problem getting the internet setup were superb and sent out a BT engineer the following day – I dread to think how long it would have taken BT to sort. Case in point is we cancelled BT a month ago and we have just been billed for next month. grr.

Thanks for the input Malvern rider. I agree that test riding is a good idea and I have also been toying with the idea of getting a genesis too.
I think I might end up lowering my budget fairly significantly just to see how I get on with that style of bike and then if I do like it or want to start racing I can get something better / lighter etc.

I’ve had one for a few months now and on the whole I like it. It’s a very comfy helmet but I do find that it runs a bit warm for me. Also it’s the fist helmet where I have noticed the peak getting in the way of what I can see a little bit.

So many options – it really is mind boggling. At least with mtb I know more about what I want.
The other option was a lightweight hardtail but I think a CX bike would be more fun as I have a decent full sus and road bike already.

    Hi welshfarmer,

I am very keen to join with the Wednesday ride but will spend a few weeks getting my fitness back to a better level first.
I did pop into gateway and left more confused than when I went in as there were so many choices. The main reason I am looking as the focus or giant is that I can get them from the shop with a bikefit and I want to support my new lbs.

Thanks all – ended up replacing the waste connection. Less than a tenner and easily done 😀

The over flow is the small pipe that goes in to the t connector.
So reading the comments above I’m guessing just replacing the waste connection could be the way forward? Is it easy enough to do?

    Thanks

Sorry for a slight highjack but does any one know if the giant tcx slr cx bikes are any good? At £1700 it is more than I had budgeted for but looks like a nicely speced bike.
