I went for the last of the 160 trek remedy’s to do this job. You can pick them up as full bikes for less than £1k s/hand.

    Why?

If you can afford it and fancy one then go for it!

GP’s are all private companies that have very lucrative contracts to supply services to the NHS. They are not NHS employees. THey hire and fire their own staff and can choose how many appointments they have, when they are etc etc.

Im sure you can get BUPA for £20 per month. However it will only cover a limited number of procedures and only upto a certain cost. No private provider in the UK provides emergency care, Intensive care or A&E services as it is very expensive and not profitable. At the moment there is still a high chance that you would be treated in an NHS hospital as anything more than very simple stuff the private hospitals don’t have the support services to cope.

I use and unfortunately have had to claim from Dogtag. The were very good at settling the claim quickly and fairly in my case. I will be re-insuring with them.

    As others have said.

Yes if its my full face as I am probably pushing anyway
No if its my trail lid as its comfy any way so I don’t see the point

ebay and get a second hand one. There are loads out there and you will get a lot more bike for your money. I recently pickup at trek remedy 9 that was 2 years old (last of the 160mm ones) for under a grand.

Check your front mech. I went to double and bash and had to swap to a specific slx mech. My XT front mech could only handle upto a 12 tooth difference in ring sizes where as the slx one could cope with 14. I currently have 22/26 set up but will probably move to 26/40 when the current chain rings need replacing. The 36 can be a bit small and I run out of gears on the downs sometimes

If you goto the FAQ’s from the link at the top of the thread it says that they are fine with a triple crank along as you take the outer chain ring off.

Why would you want to ride tech on a hybrid?

I agree with the general consensus but be careful when setting up a full suspension bike as the longest effective chain length on many bikes, including mine as I found out to my cost, is not at either end of the travel but about 1/3rd of the way through. My bike has a VPP link system so the path of the rear wheel is backwards and then up in a sort of C shape. As a result there needs to be enough slack in the chain to allow for the suspension to follow its path.

My understanding is you will need a 10 speeder because the geometry of the rear mechs for 10 speed is different to that of 9 speeds so they move a different distance for the same movement of gear cable.

I agree that its a shame that you cant, but I guess the Big S’s saw an opportunity…….

We always stay at the premier inn in Port Talbot. THey have never complained at taking the bikes into the room aslong as they arent filthy.

All the time and given the big stone chip on the lens just where I look through Im glad I do.

As for steaming up I found it varies depending on the brand, cheap ones were always steaming up. My oakleys only steam up when I stop and then self clear very quickly once riding again.I suspect it depends on the lens and face shape and how that affects the airflow.

Well that should be a nice little earner for the supermarkets. I bet they cots a fraction of a penny each for them. Is anyone meant to believe that they will count how many they have sold and pass the full amount onto charity?

IF people do stop using the bags then the supermarket will still win as it won’t be buying and transporting them round the world.

I park in the layby where the trail crosses the main road at the railway crossing. You can then ride the whole thing from a different start or do the new bit twice which is the most fun.

I have a dog tag policy that is really good. More to the point when I made a claim as I was unable to travel on a ski trip earlier in the year due to ill health they paid up in fully very promptly and with no quibbling. Much impressed.

My understanding is that at the world cups the teams pay for the cost of the free caster transmission hence its all free to watch.

At the world champs because the riders are racing for their nation rather than their sponsors then the teams are not prepared to pay the cost hence why this one has a charge attached to it.

Happy to be told Im wrong but thats what I understand to be the case

Cant see it in a hurry. But then who would have thought Intense would be playing with the black stuff when their whole history is being good at welding.

I prefer SRAM. I have had 2 XT front shifters split on their bodies in the last 2 weeks. Not impressed. Running 9speed X9 happily at the moment
