Fairly common layout from the 5 minutes of the other rounds I caught.

Cant wait for the main event at the weekend 😀

PedalOn are a good bunch and they post stuff out really quick. I’m only 20mins drive away but quite often get them to post it out as it gets to me next day when I cant make it up there before closing on a night 😀

Oxford do alarmed D-Locks for motorbikes. I have one and it does work well. You can chose to arm the alarm or not, and TBH its a good deterrent when you are out and about when used with a suitable chain.

When at home we use the same chain and a ground anchor mounted to the wall, but the best measure you can take is to keep it out of sight as much as possible while also locking it with the biggest chain you can manage 🙂

How do you find it rides compared to a 26″

I’ve just plumped for an SB66c in small. I didnt see any reason for someone riding a small to be on the tweener size really, although I guess you could see it as a 29er for shorter people. Going by the Eurobike Liteville diagram, I should be on 26″ anyway for my size! 😆

G-Form – minimal padding but it does work and is very comfy/flexible for riding

They are like leg warmers with minimal padding on them, so yes very comfortable. I think you will struggle to find anything more comfortable. The only downside is that as they are like leg warmers, they fully cover the rear of the knee which gets a bit much on warmer days. Would be nice if they did some with perforations or cutouts. Also because they have no cutouts, they bunch up behind the knee a little. Only very minor annoyances but does add up over long days.

Use a flower pot full of thermite above the top tube. Video said destruction and send video to CRC.

Was there on the Monday BH and they were very much telling people with only the day pass to wait until all uplift customers had got on, so I’m guessing that they did sort the priorities after opening day. Of the 5 uplifts we did, only 2 had PAYG customers on it, rest were all uplift passes.

So what you’re saying is, buy 2 electronic devices?
We usually have 3 – 1x Garmin 800, 2x iPhone with Memory Maps and OS maps loaded. I also have a Garmin Fenix now, so technically I could have 4. Better hope the GPS satellites dont fail though 😆

You want to turn off Data Roaming, that will stop the bills. Could also turn off 3G to be sure, and maybe just disable celluar all together.

As above, GPS will be disabled in Airplane mode.

Good change to my little route, I’ll try that next time. I thought that first fire road on the right (then going left) would bring us out at the top of Jump Gulley. The reason we used to go straight up to man hole cover was there was a nice little descent down to Jump Gulley but its been blocked off now.

Depending on how long you want to be out, my favorite route goes something like this:

Blue first half > Red section 1 > take a left down the fire road, up the hill and down the other side, swing tight right as soon as you are at the bottom (almost back on yourself) and back up to Jump Gulley (do a few laps) > then from top of Jump Gulley round the back of the hill and on up to Red 15 (I think) > follow the rest of Red all the way back.

You miss out Seagul Run, but also a load of other boring bits too. Makes for a nice ride for about 1hr.

Loads more cheeky trails to be had but they are hidden fairly well now.

Make sure the seatpost is clean and tight enough. I had a creak today and the post must have had some dirt as I moved it a bit, tightened it up and it went away.

The black out seal? That shouldnt be removed from what I’ve seen, you fit the adapters over the top.

    Instructions here – http://www.hopetech.com/webtop/modules/_repository/documents/B.BracketTruvativ.pdf

I have always wondered what you then do when you want to replace the bearings though.

Aye no barriers. You have 2 choices, on the left as you come in is the horsebox parking which is your best choice as its largely empty most of the time, or go right and then left into the main carpark where busses/coaches park but theres not always space for them if its busy.

Run both S-Works and Control Purgatory and Ground Control. S-Works are lighter due to thinner side wall. I found S-Works were good when run with tubes but now I’ve gone tubeless, the rear tyre tends to fold under in hard corners so have to run more pressure. Control tyre is fine tubeless so will be using Controls from now on.

Should have said my Charge is the original one with the front loading bladder rather than at the rear. Perhaps the newer ones with the bladder entry on the back have the front pocket all the way down. That would make it the same as the Volt just a bit smaller and a better design. Will let you know in a few days when the Spark arrives as that’s the same layout as the new Charge

    ChrisI

Had the Charge LR first and now have a Volt. Charge is great for its size but the main pocket starts about 1/3 way up due to the bladder and you lose some side pocket space again due to the bladder. Volt is bigger and better IMO. Main pocket goes all the way down the back and the wings aren’t as wide so take less away from the side pocket.

Material is thin but that means lightweight so as long as you lol after it will be fine.

About to order a Spark for the missus as she doesn’t like the green of the Charge.

On our T5 we use a tow bar and Thule tow ball bike rack for the reasons Stoner gives, its rock solid and effectively bolted directly to the chasis. Expensive outlay if you dont have the towbar already, but worth it as you can move it between vehicles then.

Only issue I have heard of leaving them compressed is if the are in direct sunlight. Often leave mine overnight as it has to be down when on the bike rack when we are camping.

But dont you need to add on the cost of a 10sp chain. Plus if you already have a 1×10 setup, changing to the general lee to get that range is WAY cheaper than a 1×11 setup.
Fair point. I came from 2×9, so would have had to gone 1×10 + General Lee, so XX1 was very close in price because the 10sp stuff is so close in price to XX1 for everything but the cassette. If you already have 1×10 then its a much more sensible option.

But people need to remember that the £100 for GL will need to be every time you change cassette, its not a one off payment, it will wear out too.

Crazy money for a cassette and chain. That 42t general lee thing doesnt look as bad now price wise.

    Not so sure you know.

I paid £230 for my XX1 cassette on Bike-Discount. The General Lee is £107 and a PG1070 is what £60? So yes its an extra £60 for one more gear with the spread being both higher and lower than the General Lee can manage. But we don’t know how long the General Lee will last. Reports I’ve read is that the XX1 cassette is lasting way longer than XX and more than general ones like the PG1070, so I would be too sure its bad value for money just yet compared to buying the cheaper 10sp versions and a General Lee. The rest of XX1 (or XO1 once the prices drop after initial release), its pretty reasonably priced compared to 10sp, in a most cases a bit more expensive and some bits cheaper. Admittedly the whole lot could be a bit cheaper but I can see why the cassette takes 3hrs of machining now I have one.

I did 22/36 w/11-36 for a year or so and it worked fine, more than enough range. Big jump between the front rings, but I only used the 22 in extreme or extended up hills.

Saying that, I then skipped 2×10 and 1×10 and went straight to 1×11 😀

As long as they have good stock, they are only a couple of days away. Saved myself over £150 getting XX1 from them rather than the UK and arrived quicker than the Hope XD body I ordered from Sheffield!

With that much of a drop in length, I’d borrow or buy a cheap stem as it will make a very noticeable difference and you might well find it too twitchy. Once happy with it then buy a nice one.

Website says 4 busses during the summer, no idea how long it takes to get to the top though.

Would be good to see more pics and some vids as they seem a little scarce given how many trails there are meant to be. Guess it will come in time closer to opening.

Went back to flats for a Dirt School course and haven’t looked back. Would use SPDs if I were racing or long XC days in the saddle but for general arsing around on the trail (that’s what AM/Enduro is really) then flats are best if you’re not so comfortable in SPDs. Gives you the option of try new things and push it without having to unclip all the time. Plus it means you have to do skills/jumps properly 😉

Just converted over from HTII to GXP for XX1 on my Hope BB. Everything seems to be fine. As chief said above, the adapters can bind on the plastic outer seal/cover, but other than that its all good and spins as freely as before so its not binding or anything. Added benefit of Hope is you can run a BB mounted guide such as the MRP AMG which you cant do with SRAM GXP as they dont use a spacer whereas Hope uses one spacer by default. I’ll be getting an AMG next pay day I think to keep the XX1 protected from strikes.

As already mentioned make sure you save it as a GPX track or TCX and not a route. That way it wont have the guidance, just a nice line to follow.

I was there saturday too, enjoyed it as always especially as I am starting to get a little air.
There were two ambulances driving out of the car park as I drove in and another one plus a fire engine at the start of the blue trail when I got there.

Don’t know what happened but hope no one was hurt to badly.
If that was around 12:30pm then one of them was a chap called Des who broke his collar bone on Red 15 after crashing hard. I was the first on the scene and me and the missus helped his mates get him to the medics. He should be all patched up by now I hope.
