I ave a gravity dropper turbo, works great and being mechanical rather than hydraulic it’s easy to service or fix. when mine broke beyond repair gravity dropper fixed it and serviced it completely free of charge no questions asked… worth the money

Happy Chunky Monkey owner here, however i find it does clag up a bit in the worst conditions, then i switch to a £13 conti baron or a panaracer fire FR

+1 for the grip with mavics, am45s can be slippy when scrambling up gloppy slopes with a bike, the alpine soles are really spikey

Now there’s an idea! it does have a huge dent in the top tube though.. does that count as niche?

I have AM45s and can’t reccomend them enough, however my old man has alpine XLs and says they’re pretty good, look a bit much in white though i think.. and are about twice the price of AMs..

Here’s my much beloved 456, one of the first ones, still branded as an inbred.

Conti Baron, £12, bit weighty but when the summer comes and you switch to something lighter and quicker you’ll be flying!

I have my road bike in the turbo trainer in front of the rad in the living room for hanging clothes to dry on, makes 5 bikes a bit more justifiable to the missus, or at least that’s what i try to get her to believe!

So I received the item and the logo was upside down… Contacted them and they wanted it sent back. Did so at my expense 3 weeks ago and so far i still have not received a non faulty item and am down the postage on top of what i paid, they’re not answering any more even though im writing directly to the guy who told me to send it back. Not good enough.

Just bought a fire mountain frame and some p2 forks, never ridden an old kona but want to feel what it’s all about! Ss with v brakes for now but if i feel the love i might try welding some disc tabs on later.. where can you buy them from?

Love the baron, cheap and grippy, verts are good in the dry and damp on the back and gatorskin folders are the only tyre i run on the road, all otgers were 3 punctures per ride (very flinty here) and are cheap for the weight

Just been in contact via email from drew at on one. Seems a nice enough guy and very helpful. He has ensured me that things are being done to sort out the CS there.. So my issue is on it’s way to being resolved. Apparently they didn’t receive my emails so could be a technical issue, could not be one, but in any case as thrusty says, I now have a direct contact if anything goes wrong!

Definetly, I never run the same tyres front and rear. If you’re skint pick up a conti baron, less than £15 and excellent on the back, heavy but really good winter tyre. I swap my front depending on conditions and trails but the Baron always stays on the back in the winter.

Oh look another on one customer service thread. aren’t they great?

Still no news back yet, After reading other people’s experiences to be honest if they asked me to send it to them to replace I’m not sure i’d want to with all the stories of stuff getting ‘lost’… Shame, nice products though. Might pay up the extra for a Soul when my 456 dies, hard to find a bad word about them and Cy’s a nice guy.

Exactly, i understand prices are low and can appreciate some delays or minor issues, or even unboxed parts but when i buy something i expect it to work! I had an issue with a 20£ item and its not the end of the world but now i would not trust buying say some forks, a frame or a bike if i know from my and others’ experience that I will get no support should something go wrong..

To be honest i don’t believe it could be a volume of emails problem as they always seem to find time to despatch my orders within a few hours. Can’t get round to ringing as im working stupid hours at the moment…. I’ll give them a couple more days then just switch back to crc..

Cheers rickt! That’s what i was looking for! 3 quid and ill be up and running rather than 200 odd at the bloody rip off garage..

I saw a pic of a 1.8 thermostat location but it’s not the same as i have no access at all to that area behind the sump on mine… probably worth picking up a haynes manual i suppose

    chrishc777

Already found that one and it’s completly different, will check engine code later…
And no she’s fine, just running a little cold, as a thermostat costs 3 quid and i’m going to be taking the bottom off anyway to service it i thought i’d sort it out..

No risk of stanchion/bushing interface not working out? ie too tight or loose due to wear and different years having different tolerances?

Camelbak hawg nv, lots of room for lots of stuff ie lunch box when commuting or lots of tools when on a newly built bike, or it performs fine with just a multitool some food and a tube. and much more comfy than an overpacked tiny little manbag style thingy

ahhhh so it flows freely between uppers and lowers on that side. thanks. They still don’t feel good though, suppose it’s due to the age…

yep i’ve found the relative part of the table but it refers to the oil baths, the air chambers but not to the actual damper

A guy at work had exactly the same incident, old guy drove into the back of his motorbike, the wife actually wet herself apparently.. In Italy when over 65 you need a medical visit every year to keep your licence, should really have the same thing here, makes sense

I don’t get who’d want to adjust the travel down to 140mm on some 3.4kg 38mm stanchion freeride forks by the way..
