The saab is an X reg so i’m hoping parts would be available from scrapyards… plus they’re only £1k so if I get a couple years out of it i’m happy

Just had a lengthy discussion with dave(i think) from tf and he reckons the tune’ll sort it as best as possible, and confirms that everyone is having issues with the ctd shocks, from what he says its extensive work and alot gets changed. He explained the whole process in detail and it makes sense.Expensive but I’ll give it a go, like the fact the technician rings you with the shock in front of him before tuning it..

ah yes, forgot mine is a 2013
got a response straight back, suggesting contacting TF, and agreeing that the float X is much better… Will give them a ring tomorrow

Have just written to Transition, though in mmmerica they spec a float x so not sure if they’ll be able to help…

My 2008 456 ticks all those boxes is great and you can find em for about £30

One of my riding buddies has some cheap spesh ones and gets on great with them, i went for lizard skins north shores which are extra chunky and releive the hand pain while still looking good

If the tune won’t help I’d rather keep the £50 and put it towards a ccdb air cs…

Everyone who has said to have the same problem, what velocity tune does your shock have?
I run it up to 220 but then it just starts feeling harsh. It doesn’t bottom out nastily now ive added the volume spacer but the o ring sits at about 80% even if ive just popped off the pavement or sprinted a bit..

Hmmm can’t really justify all the extra cost and weight of a ccdb for my riding, no one got one with a ctd?

Ah yes knew id leave something out, its a 2013 covert with ctd kashima shock, lv air can

    I’ve got 203 and 183, extra 3mm makes all the difference…
seriously though went from 160 rear to 183 and noticed the difference, 203 from 180 front and didn’t. Will probably go 180 bpth ends again

Ebay or LBS for service kits, then find the right manual here:

Exactly what I intend to do, but are they M4x0.5 or M4x0.7?

Doesnt’ state length and they look the same as mine which are 6mm, plus blue is out of stock.. and they cost a tenner
Thought this would be a simple and easy thing to find!

Not simple grub screw type ones, although looking at reviews of other types it seems the paint comes off anyway so I’ll go with black..

Exactly! Why would you want a wide cassette and a triple?

    chrishc777

Yes there will be a groupset with a 22t granny and a 40t top sprocket. So almost a 2:1 ratio. I think I’d struggle to stay upright pedalling in that..

I have had a HAWG NV for a while now and I love it. Plenty of room for anything you’ll ever need, including lunchbox when commuting. very well thought out straps and buckles. nice fleece lined media pocket. Front pocket with sections for tools. very comfy and the NV ventilation works very well, for a pack this size I have had no sweaty back issues. looks nice too.
Rain cover is briliant too, works well, doesn’t quite cover the side pockets when fully loaded but never had anything get wet in there, and I love rainy all day epics!
zips are strong too as more than once I’ve had it too loaded and struggled to close them, fearing any second it would break but so far all good.
    Hope this helps!

My Spank Oozy rims on pro 2 evos are great. light stiff and have handled plenty of abuse with 100kg on them on a hardtail

My brakes are fine, but now I know I can get some new sparkly XT ones for £100 I’m tempted… Probably end up single if I buy them, so should I get them in black or silver?

Just been out for a 65k ride, all the best local bits, a few trails id forgotten were great in the dry too! A bit harsh in places where muddy ruts have cooked off but great!

Cheers, I’d dismissed those because I had some and didn’t like them but that’s a personal thing I suppose, I’ll get him to go for those i think.
    Thanks!

Don’t quite fit the bill though, the el guapos are too expensive and the on ones are too narrow. I know it’s a bit moon on a stick but he’s new to the sport and on a small budget, we’ve all been there!

Interesting thread there toys, I did consider the bandit too but having a hardtail means i don’t need to compromise. Is yours still at 34lb? I think I’ll be going tubeless and losing the bash, ideally I want to be as close to 30lb as possible.
    Any pics of yours?
    P.S. Cheers!
