So you have flat feet and the podiatrist recommends supporting them which further increases your reliance on support?

The people recomending barefoot or low drop, wide toe box shoes definitely have something.
The more you support your feet and ankles, the more they rely on that and therefore the weaker they get. Using the muscles in your feet and getting them to support themselves seems like the best way to sort this out. As OnzaDog also suggests.

Spend more time barefoot, get zero drop shoes with wide toe boxes: Altra, Vivo, Lems, innov8 have a few, Merrell barefoot range, Xero, Vibram FF.

Everywhere is about right. Pick a direction. Look on trailforks and go for it. There’s so much down there. Have a look at Bike Corris for guiding.

Use Strava. Look near Betws and also Trefriw. Loads of segments on there for the non official stuff. Mostly steep tech stuff, and the odd cheeky footpath for midweek.
There’s a lot of trail builders round there so plenty about.

I saw this thread a while ago and thought it was a great idea. I missed a day yesterday. But I’m in the process of moving house so will have to make it up. Mostly been doing bodyweight exercises I found on YouTube. Will be getting out on the CX bike once I’m in the new place. Lots to explore.

Would love to get out running. But it just hurts so won’t be doing that.

Ride to the lighthouse at smooth point.
Very quiet road. Couple of short sharp hills. Lovely ride with amazing views from the cliff tops. And the rocks at the end by the lighthouse are amazing.

Another vote for sixt. The guys we went out with said they always use them as there’s never a queue and never had any spurious damage claims from them.

There wasn’t a queue. And they didn’t question anything when we handed it back. They gave us a nice caddy maxi which was handy!

    Good PSA ta!

I got Subnautica last year for free through them. Great game. Didn’t realise they offered free games fairly often.

Epic games get a bit of stigma because of them getting exclusivity to some games through means that could be seen as unfair to other companies such as Valve/Steam. But if it’s free. I’m in!

Anyone except Virgin is only fibre to cabinet rather than all the way to your house

Virgin is FTTC too. They just use a different system. They use underground coax cables instead of the thin little phone line cables BT use.

BT and Virgin both offer proper FTTP I believe. But it’s rare and expensive.

Also from what I can gather fibre is much less susceptible to peak-time slow down than plain ADSL. So it’s not just about the speed but how consistent it is. You probably wont get 11Mbps in the evenings. My 35 Mbps fibre doesn’t really drop below 32

For a dual carriageway (i.e. with a central meridian) NSL is 70 mph for a car, 60 for a HGV, etc. (90 for an Audi).

a 70 limit would apply to all vehicles, including HGVs, which I was I understand the reason to be.

This was always my take on it too.

Try the Oakley one. As far as I can tell it has a silicone band which acts as a channel to divert sweat to the edges. So will still flow, but hopefully in a less annoying place.

Also Urge (used to at least) have a pad that extends down below the edge of the helmet and is designed to sit in the wind and dry out as you ride.

Don’t get Troy Lee A1 as mine also leaks down my face.

Wheel and frame is really convenient. But you will need some helitape or something on the frame to protect from rubbing. I have a missing patch of paint on mine.

Almost an exact copy of my Decathlon Airseconds

I also have a Decathlon inflatable tent. It’s nothing at all like this one. ALDI couldn’t even get it setup properly for the advertising picture. Wouldn’t bother.

    Maybe bit of a PSA.
If you’re after post mount rather than flat mount. Check out the Hy/Rd on Decathlon website £49.99 including a rotor.

    loop around Cowlyd reservoir

I really dont like the Cowlyd loop. Very over hyped. Much better natural options out there.

Its a long way out to coed y brenin but will be a good adventure. Could always split it up and use the bothy at cyb for an overnight stop

Forks? Check topcap torque. My Pikes were creaking badly. I was thinking I’d have to replace them. Put a spanner to the topcaps and creak gone.

£850 for Shimano 105 and carbon fork.

They’ve got LTD version with 650 wheels and 1x SRAM Apex coming out tomorrow for the same price.

I also have a narrow head.
Tried the Poc Trabec which is very round, but the Tectal fitted quite nicely.

Maybe worth trying trying Sweet Protection? Ive not tried their bike helmets but i have a kayaking helmet of theirs and it fits lengthways where others did not!

As others have said. Just get a tubeless inflator (airshot etc).

It makes your life easier and you dont have to worry about swapping tyres in the future.

Id rather run tubes than try to inflate with a track pump.

Dont think so. Reverb oil is hydraulic oil.

Fork oil has anti foaming properties.

Pretty sure they are different stuff.

Moel-y-Ci in Mynydd Llandegai isn’t far. Marin trail and Capel Curig rides Like Crafnant and Geiryonydd aren’t far depending on where you are on Anglesey.

You can also ride from Bangor all the way up to Ogwen Cottage on mostly traffic free paths with some quiet lanes in places. You’ll find some riding in the woods around Bethesda too.

Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown.
Really enjoyed it. The audible narrator is brilliant too if you like an audio book.

I bought a cheap eBay kit and followed the instructions. Wasn’t hard at all. Just don’t drill into the fork leg. Mark the drill bit with some tape or something.
