Do you swim a lot? I get colds pretty frequently after being in chlorinated water.

How do so many people end up with chain suck? I have never had a single problem with it. Don’t even know how it happens?

As far as I can tell. Rab and Patagonia are the only companies that make the lightweight down jackets. Just had a quick browse and cant find any others.

Rab do make a fair few different colours of their Microlight tho, so maybe still worth a look?

Synthetic could be a more versatile way to go, but for the weight it wont pack down as small as down. Look at stuff like the Montane Prism, Rab Generator, Rab Photon Micro.

EDIT: Just seen a Mountain Hardware down jacket. But it looks a bit horrible! HERE

Those big flexible buckets you get from garden centres. Good for wet, muddy stuff etc. Perfect if you are just carting stuff between your car and house.

No snow there at the moment! We had maybe a week or 2 of fairly light snow. All gone now tho!

Might find a few patches of ice however. As long as its a nice day, you’d be fine with just an extra fleece, hat, and gloves on the top. If its not so nice don’t bother take a bigger rucksack with waterproofs and warm stuff.

Its a good ride tho. Coming down Llanberis path is a pretty good descent too, but doing a loop is always nicer. Watch out for the drainage ditches on telegraph valley. Vertical slate isn’t tyre or rim friendly.

    I weigh about 11 Stone.

My current rims are DT Swiss 4.2’s and I have destroyed them in a relatively short space of time. But I think they might be Uber lightweight XC rims?

They will be going on a Ragley MmmBop.

Ah does the fluid just stay in the various bits then? Sounds good! I’m more tempted to spend money now!

Is there a special way of not losing the fluid?

I am a white water kayaker and I have a friend who cant swim who regularly paddles grade 5 rivers.

If you are wearing a buoyancy aid, just make the movements that look like swimming and you will.

I like the current forum, much better than the likes of BR mainly because it doesn’t have all the sub categories. just because i ride a specific discipline doesn’t mean i’m not interested by others!

Exped make one, but its not cheap.

Also the roll top style bags like the Alpkit, Ortlieb and Exped are all submersible due to the rolling top, as long as its rolled 3 times, its completely waterproof.

So sorry to say Sandwich, but you’re wrong.

I had a 140 Float on my SS which was awesome. Swapped the frame for an MmmBop which made for a slightly better climber, but not too much difference for the descents. These didn’t have travel adjust either and not much of a problem.

Seems like 140 is the one to go for. And if you are serious about your climbing, get travel adjust.

    It’ll be reet.

Still fine to eat if you’d left it on the side overnight… Way too much caution over stuff like this, no idea how so many people get food poisoning.

If you are after a BB alternative try the Nokia E71. Has the Ovi Store for a limited app base and has GPS.

Can sync to multiple mail accounts etc. I really like mine. Only problem is I get bored of phones quickly.

I think Apple products lag ‘behind the times’ slightly because they know they have the support of their ‘devoted fans’ due to their build quality and UI (Or whatever excuse they use).

This means, if they hang back, they get an extra product on the shelves with an upgrade already waiting.

This mainly works with the iPhone I guess because it was really one of the first touch screen phones that actually worked properly.

Often strange things with no relevance to anything.
I once questioned ‘Why did the carrot break?’ I think I was having some strange lucid dream about the bit on the fellowship of the ring when they fall down a bank. But I couldn’t understand why my girlfriend had no idea what I was talking about. The questions did go on for a while.

Had another one when I went to wake my sister up who was staying with me. She had the cat on the bottom of the bed. And she kept asking me why there was a large pickled onion on the bottom of the bed. Turns out the pickled onion she was on about was in fact the cat.

I have a pair of canyoneers for kayaking. They are designed to drain quickly so are far from waterproof, designed to be work with drysuit socks or neoprene socks.

I use a soft-shell for biking because it that much more active and even when they are wet they keep you warm (as long as you are still moving).

If you spray some Nikwax spray on proofer on it then it can resist the rain that little bit longer. Don’t use the wash in stuff as it proofs the inside as well which means if its not raining the inside gets a bit wetter as the inside is also water resistant.

For walking in the mountains I have a Gore-Tex Pro Shell jacket which can be a little bit sweaty on the climbs, but for the sheer protection it offers, is worth it. Especially with some of the persistent weather you get in Snowdonia.

    Anyone want a Superfly XT?
    Size Small
    Red
    Brand new with tags?

    RRP £300
    £160 posted?

    In terms of fit…
I got this size small because I am quite skinny, but forgot I was probably too tall for the small size.

not sure this is just the shell jackets but its the only kit of theirs I have tried on.
