It would probably feel cack, however i’m only guessing from previous, similar long fork small frame exploits.

Do you get education discount in the refurb store or is it just for spanking new stuff?

Think you get it in the refurb store too!

@jimjam, you could have had 15% off if you emailed dr_death for the URL (or me as I worked it out now too)

    Technically 2
    50 inch in the lounge
21 inch in the spare room
Also have 2 laptops and a 21 inch monitor to plug said laptops into, in the bedroom. (Also connected up to a 5.1 surround sound system)

What bike is it you have?

I’d probably go for a 2.2 (not sure what sizes they come in). But the slightly narrower width will cut through the mud a bit more to find the grippyness below! But if you go too narrow the tyres lose a bit of lateral grip (and if your bike is nice and fat, the thin lyres look lame :P ).

Got a mate who wears an actual bike chain round his wrist. Had it on there for a good few years now! Mainly because he needs a chain tool to take it off.

What’s worrying is the inside has actually started to wear flat and smooth!

If you are just looking at trail centres and relatively well conditioned singletrack. The RQ’s are probably all you’ll need.

They will be fine in the wet until it becomes very muddy slop (which you rarely find at trail centres), at which point you may find they start to slip a bit. But for only occasional riding, its probably not worth getting a new set of tyres for. You can always go slop surfing! 8)

So for now I would stick with the RQ’s and then if you feel you need a bit ‘more’ go for something like a Bontrager Mud X, or a Maxxis Medusa, but I know the Bonty’s get great reviews.

Okay, I worked it out. The website uses an inviting integer, so you just modify the URL to match that of one of the university’s from Apple’s list.

I wasn’t saying I didn’t believe you. Just that I thought you were referring to the lower level of discount available.

So yes, you can do it… Tho its kinda cheating :P

    So if I buy a U-turn spring. For instance… This one… http://bit.ly/wV95k8

    Do I need anything else?

Okay, well I just had another look, didn’t realise there was other stores, but you get about double the discount again if you do log on through the uni network.

£860 for the basic Mac Pro I believe. Rather than the £940 on the lower levels.

They ever ask for much proof about whether you are a student or not to shop on the online apple store for education. You just need the special URL……

    (email in profile )

Nope, to gain the discounts you need to log on via the university’s computer network otherwise it wont work.

it does knock a fair whack off tho! About £140 from the basic Mac PRo I believe.

So If you do know any students, Its well worth it! (Or a University staff member for that matter).

    They are just incredible!

they have a very soft compound and will be rather warm!

    They will be really cold!
I have a pair of the yellow ones for kayaking and they are made of very thin material at the bottom, and they have draining holes. Which obviously work the opposite way :P

They are designed to be worn with drysuit socks or neoprene socks.

Sorry I should have made it clear that I was after the whole kit :)

Looks like I will be going for Joe’s then as there doesn’t seem to be much difference from what you guys have said :)

    Cheers everyone.

I have one of the original TomTom Ones. Still going strong. Spent £40 for a map update a while ago. Much easier to use than newer ones I have seen.

I really have no interest in watching it! I may watch it if the opportunity to borrow a DVD comes up. But It just looks like a dull film with a boring pile of characters.

I’d like to guess a very long time.

Engines use tiny amounts of fuel when they are just ticking over.

As I said, just a guess.

Anyone got any experience of the VW family 1.4tsi petrol engine?

My dad has an Octy estate with the 1.4 TSI 122BHP version. He has got it with the 7 speed DSG box, so not sure how much difference that makes, but for the engine size, it goes like a rocket! Very quick car.

The only problem is, due to it being a small petrol engine at heart, it doesn’t have a huge amount of torque for when the car is really full. But with the DSG gearbox, it will just knock it down a gear and be fine. Sits at 75 /80 fine with the cruise control on.

    Does 45 MPG too

Also, Skoda don’t put the the supercharger on the engine too. So its only a TI really.

    EDIT

Skoda basically take the VW car platform and stick a bigger shell on.

Its wet and rubbish here in Llanberis! No idea what the trail centres are like, but much of the same I imagine.

We were supposed to be getting more snow, but that doesn’t look likely now.

On the plus side, it is warmer! Not dropping much below 0 during the day.

    Asda, Waterlooville? Small world!

Its such a horrible shop tho! Albeit better than the big Asda in Havant.

I’m a fan of Sainsbury’s in Cosham myself!

Edit: In fact that’s not great either. Think its just Portsmouth in general TBH. What a hole!

Good job I don’t spend much time there anymore! North Wales is much nicer :)

I have a Marmot Wave III synthetic bag which I have used in -13 (it has a rating of -5) and I was only a little bit cold. They do a 4 season one too called the Wave IV with a rating of -10. They are synthetic bags, but damn good ones. The hood design and baffles are brilliant. Plus you get a little pocket by your feet to put a hand-warmer in).

    They don’t glow for long!

Luminous-nous soon wears off. Only to be charged by very bright sunlight, and even then will only work in a very dark room.

Was nice when it was new tho! For a few weeks!

Thanks everyone! It has now shown up on their website!

Shiny set of SLX brakes coming my way!
