“” quietly ditch your mates at 2am and go back to the hotel for a good eight hours’ sleep. You’ve had he best part of the night and nothing any good is going to happen later! “”

Will you also be wearing a ducky tie?

In fact I like them in chronological order.

Worlds end definitely wasnt as good. But still enjoyable. I still think the funniest bit was the cornetto wrapper on the fence at the end.

Seems okay to me. I sold some 2011 revelations for less than that a while ago.

Lots of people are banging on about x fusion velvets.

Ask in a local shop. Pretty much all of them have Madison accounts. Or just save the hassle and buy a new mech.

You’ll feel better for it. Probably.

I get very cold feet in my M162 SPD shoes. But I think that is the fault of the shoes. Not the best protected.
Wore my impacts in flat pedals again yesterday and they were much warmer. Just wearing a thin liner sock with a walking sock on top. My next purchase will be a pair of AM45 shoes, same as AM41 just SPD. As I have had a go with some of them and lits more warmth and weather protection.
I have yet to find anything that works when it gets really cold tho.

Main thing i have found that makes a difference is make sure the shoes and socks arent too tight.

Basil, have you ever tried that? It just doesn’t work. No grip at all.

Judging by the state of most of the woods up here after the winds on Wednesday. I highly doubt it will all be clear. Could be worth a go, just be prepared to climb over/under/round a few trees. Keep an eye out for down power lines.

Have to agree on those assorted “broken biscuit” boxes you can get from the range and shops like that. A kilo for about 2.80.

A bit of luck is needed when selecting your box of choice. But mostly they are great, with loads of chocolatey high quality biscuits.

Problem is I could probably get through one in a day if it was sitting in front of me.

    @Rusty

Its fairly steep, I will give you that. But good fun!

Not sure where that is, but I used to live in Brynrefail. So we pedalled up the back road to waunfawr. Then up to the summit of Moel Eilio. (We pushed some of it).

Descend all the way down to llanberis.

First snow we have had in N wales this winter.
    Scotland sounds much more exciting!

Penmachno has a bit of snow as of this morning. Not sure how long it will last.

Don’t bother with Snowdon. If you wanted mountains rather than trail centres, go up moel Eilio, across the ridge, and down to telegraph valley. That’s quite nice and shouldn’t be as snowy as the higher bits of snowdon.

Blue cheese always looks manky. I ate some hairy stuff the other day. Was fantastic.

    Get it in.

Yep. Very normal. It will be better tomorrow. Give it a couple of days for your teeth to settle and it will be fine.

Just look forward to when they are tightened!

Source: 5 years of personal experience. Will be worse in an adult too as your teeth haven’t moved since you were young.

Its mostly about comfort than gears.

    Things I wish I had:
Dropper post. Lots of fairly steep descents and it gets VERY tiresome stopping and putting your post down.

Bigger volume tyres that weren’t Nobby Nics. No grip and puncture a lot when at lower pressures.

I did it on 1×10 last year and was fine. On my yellow mmmBop!

Well thanks for all the help guys. Few things to think about. But for now; I have booked onto snowboarding lessons in Serre Chavalier.

Skiing is something I can think about later depending on how much I end up going!

    Cheers guys.

I needed to decide fairly sharpish as I was going to book some lessons for when I am out there, but needed to know which lessons to book. Works out cheaper if I just add the lessons onto the package.

I have thought about doing some days at snowdome first. worth it?

Still at a loss for which to go for though.

    Nice riding.

I have never ridden at Cannock, but it doesn’t look particularly exciting.

    Repo men.
It wasnt a brilliant film. But found myself oddly gripped by it. Wouldn’t want to watch it again tho. Some very peculiar and slightly “off putting to watch” scenes.

I thought 12 years a slave was let down by the ending a bit. I know it was based on a true story, but where was ‘the big chase’ when he got sick of it all, stabbed some white folk and legged it? It seemed to just suddenly end.

Definitely agree with harry brown though.

Have you ever noticed how when you are riding, pedestrians and walkists tend to not have a clue where you’re going and seem to dart around like a startled deer? All of this whilst thinking to yourself ” I’m in perfect control and am not going very fast, what are they doing?”

I think its just the perception of speed and the fact that because you are moving slightly quicker than a walkist, they struggle predicting what you will do.

They were probably in a lot more control of their speed than they appeared. They even had time for some pleasentries.

Ever ridden snowdon when its busy?

I was getting flats most rides with tubes. Went tubeless (tho only on the rear) and haven’t had one since I installed it.

I take a tube in case it does all go wrong. Just make sure you check the inside of tyre really well as there may be some thorns in there that would puncture a tube that were dealt with by the sealant.

In short, its awesome. Do it.

Setting up was easy for me as I have access to a compressor so can’t comment on this.

They are definitely harder on the jockey wheels. More so if your chain line is a bit out.

I took some out of an old 9 speed SLX and they seem fine.

I used iron on tape on my gore-tex jacket. Just turn the iron right down and turn it up a click at a time till it sticks. Just don’t hold the iron on it for ages.

More scout stories. Used to make potato cannons and catapults and set up battles with the local sea scout group. Cue a few hours of being pelted with high speed potatoes.

Used to pile about 10 of us into the leader’s Vauxhall omega and go up onto the ridgeway on salisbury plain. tie a massive tractor tyre to the back with a bit of rope and drag us along the ridgeway for a couple of miles at what seemed like rediculous speeds.

Then there is jumping off of large things just to see if you can make it. Like the stones at Avebury which we were allowed to climb on.

I used 78 888 text check. Works out a fair bit cheaper.

SPD on everything. Since going clipped in I will never go back. Made me more confident in the long run as you can’t half commit to stuff like you can on flats.

I have what the doctors think is labyrinthitis atm.
Couple of months now. First month was pretty dizzy most of the time. No vomiting or falling over. Just general clumsiness.
Slowly getting there. On betahistane dihydrochloride. Which as far as I can tell is a really strong travel sickness pill.

I got a couple of eye floaters at the same time which are apparently sometimes associated with it due to viral infection.

It mostly just feels like a brain fog now. Like being very lightly detached from real life.

Horrible tho and by the sounds of things i got off easy!

Sorry to hijack a bit, but seems like a good thread to ask in.

I have a pair of 55 micro ti forks. Just come back from windwave with.a full service.but the rebound knob only seems to have any effect on the last few clicks. What do we reckon, not enough oil? Something else? Marzocchi damping internals are all new to me.
