Had bad tennis elbow, tried exercises helped a little.
Medication anti inflammatory tablets helped a lot.
But doc referred me to a specialist and he injected my own blood into the tendon and generally stabbed it loads to promote damage/repair and the blood cells to help repair.
I was very sceptical but after a few days of a sore elbow, the difference was night and day.
He also explained the footballs etc have the same thing done to speed up tendon injurys but they have to blood seperated to just inject the blood cells required to speed up repair.

It’s way more common than you think, people like their car brands on their valve caps and buy a set for £2 off e bay.
When it gets really expensive is when the wheels have tyre pressure sensors and the seized tyre valve ends up costing £150 per wheel to replace and reprogram. Also most cars won’t let you de configure the function so if you fit standard valves the dash warning lights up like Xmas tree every time you start.
If non sensor get the valve replaced or cut the cap off as someone has said because the corrosion usually is far to great for them to move without ripping the valve off and most people turn them with pliers until they rip the valve and deflate the try on there drive.

As someone said ^ if it’s got to that mileage I wouldn’t be messing about with magic in a bottle stuff in the fuel or oil system, cleaners by their nature are designed to break down or remove dirt the grim that’s in your fuel/oil system isn’t doing any harm at the min and I could bore you with story’s of diesel injectiors seizing after overzealous fuel additives and piston rings sticking after miracle engine cleaners.
Check the lights/levels and top is as ness if your not going to service it.

Minimum before a big trip obviously check tyre pressures lights/levels etc but if your not particularly technical having the service done and the safety check would give you peice of mine.
No one want to be broke down on the side of the road in shitty weather in the middle of no where, from a snapped altanator belt that could have been spotted as split/cracked pre road trip.

The DW8 valve/compression issue is very rare TBH I’ve seen it three times in 15+ years of Verious cars/vans with that engine some at low miles, as trail rat said its a head scratcher working out the shims and getting the gaps correct.

Only the 1.9d and 2.0 hdi go into those vans, for Peugeot and citroen anyway I think fiat put a 1.9 turbo into their version but I’m not sure about that.

Ether the 2.0 or the 1.9 both are good in that van.
    Generally strong and reliable.
Door lock barrels are poor and keys wear ( good way of determining if mileage is genuine!!! )
Change the oil and with no history id change the Cambelt and tentioners.
Acc cables are common. ( wear at the diesel pump area )
But full kits are £20 from GSF and 99% only need a new inner so many just change the inner cable for a few £££
I’m slightly sus that a van of that age has that very low mileage…
Driver seats wear at the edge and steering wheels go shiny at high miles… May be worth checking those.
And obviously the MOT mileage history online.

Vw are going to be doing the same over here I’ve been told by my local vw dealer but the big issue is to attain the correct emissions most engines will have to be de tuned and owners are not going to accept that… He also said some cars are buy back and crush only and not able to “update”

Very poor customer service by vw.
Oil pump failure is rare, I’ve delt with a similar case and the diagnosis check was to check the oil pressure warning circuit was operating correctly. I.e did you STOP light come on and the car was driven on?
That’s probably going to be your argument or theirs that the oil pump failure wouldn’t have destroyed the engine if stopped in time.

I’ve got crossmax sx wheels with MP3
Just had back from repair… I smashed the hell out of them for 18 months…
New rims new spokes new bearings and a new free hub
If you have the chance jump on it… Cost me £15 postage for brand new wheels

In the used/2nd hand world I find that people that buy 7 seaters use them so they see a hard life. As in people buy mini mpv 5 seat cars that see an easy life
I see a dispatch van that comes in work with 6 baby seat and the sick/bread sticks and damage everywhere to go with it
Yep child minder and probably the angriest customer I’ve ever delt with!!!

Whilst riding full speed down hill in Spain last year I got a grumpy Spanish hornet/wasp thing in my helmet… The pain of the sting got me to lock on the brakes and jump off the bike and rip my lid off… And then realised I’d landed and sat in dog shit… Not my favourite afternoon…

2.0 hdi = good strong reliable/ bit heavy and fuel Eco ok
1.9d non turbo = ultra reliable basic / v v v slow and gets annoying it’s so slow
1.6 hdi = modern great engine IF WELL LOOKED AFTER./ Whole world of drama if abused and mistreated!!!
1.4/6 petrol = v rare and best avoided if m/way use planned only consider if your only doing very low miles/ round town use.

The Volvo discription is very good.
All sales staff have been warned and explained about evaluating the customers needs/driving usage. But in reality if the customer wants a diesel then the sales won’t say anything incase the customer walks and most sales staff attitude is once it’s drove out of the dealership it’s after service problem to deal with.

A few Years ago DPF would regenerate when approaching loaded or blocked. But the euro 5/6 now will regenerate as often as the appropriate factors are attained I.e engine temp/fuel level driving style etc.
It sounds to me your just happening to stop as the DPF is mid regeneration and it’s something you would miss when driving but if it’s mid generation you will hear the fans and smell the particulates being burned off due the the very high temp the exhaust has to get to do its job.
To be honest it’s a very common question, and I think it was just explained to your mrs in a poor way.

From max? So that’s going from right to left? That’s strange? I thought all settings are from left to right???

    chrisdiesel

So the lower setting are what TF recommend for a rune?
If you don’t mind me asking how much do you weight etc. If your in the same ball park I may try the settings.
I’m my completely un expert opinion the CC recommend settings work really well. But coming from a debonair it was amazing small bump and never bottomed out.

I’ve just changed to a CCDB cs from a debonair plus, and I was worried about all the set up, I’ve got a banshee rune so the cc web site has recommended setting (have you checked the site doesn’t have yours) I set it to what was recommended and set the sag and loved it… I would like to mess but haven’t done yet but did have a conversation with TF who did say post service they would tell me new settings because the stock setup was “lacking” in there words…

Just be mindful of what’s in the fluid, we changed 6 washer pumps on one car (one every week ish) all down to some cheap super market screen wash that rotted the seals in pumps.

I know very little about that ford engine so it may be an older type but one of them has a chain between the cams that’s common for going or at least the traders I know won’t buy them without proof it’s been done.
I’m sure someone will be along to correct me on the engine type.

I’ve just got a banshee rune with a ccdb cs shock. Regards sag have you had a look on the cane creek site?
For the rune they have a full set up instructions, obviously some settings are personal preference but it’s a starting point.
I’ve been running 20mm sag and it feels great.
Very impressed by the shock if feels night and day better than the debonair I had before.

    I tell customers that’s a DPF needs a “good” m/way run every 250 miles.
But it takes way longer to explain my definition of a good run isn’t the same as theirs, I.e 2 junction on the daily rush hour commute in stop start traffic. Unfortunately DPF system isn’t going anywhere and most diesels (euro 6) now have add blue as well. Modern diesels are great but extremely complex and cannot function with being ran at full running temperature. I would consider a petrol or moving further from work.

My case went missing and didn’t fly with my to Vegas… Vegas ground crew are shocking so I just bought about $800 of new clothes to get me by whilst there and sent them copies of the invoices when I got home. They refunded me the $800 within days and my bag arrived from its world tour a few day later

Been with switch backs for the last 3 years and love the riding and the village you stay in.
How good the group is your with is down to luck obviously but as others have said mike is very flaky and that’s being kind. You get used to it but it drives some people mad and I just wish he would maybe raise the price a bit and put bog roll and gas in the house or some bits of food as the web site promised.
Our coffee/ham/bog roll turned up on the last of 4 days… It’s no big deal but just a bit annoying.

I’ve had a used both… Large car is a nicer place to be for 70 ish miles runs.
Van Suspention and tyres make a less comfortable ride and lack of sound proofing and carpet etc mate it noisey.
I’ve had a few berlingos etc but I find estates do the same job and easier to live with.

If the car is in warranty DO NOT take it to a dealer or tell the dealer.
VW will invalidate the warranty on the complete fuel system if the complete system isn’t changed I don’t know about other manufacturers. read expensive.

I spoke to SRAM about this on my debonair plus… I could get near to 20% but at 280 psi and the shock felt crap. Plus never used all its travel even on big as I dare (4 foot ish drops)
They recommended 25/30% seated sag rear (160 pike with 2 tokens) front.
And now it feels good and it uses its travel.

I’ve just got a brand new Peugeot 308 sw GT line 2.0L AUTO as my company car for my mum in the electric blue colour in all the adverts.
Really nice car. Engine is a well proven unit and the gearbox is Lexus/Toyota derived and both have used before in the DS5 before so no issues.

As molgrips says…plus Blanking only works on very early euro 3 stuff (2003) ish.
All newer stuff must be able to detect a disconnected or blocked off EGR valve.
Unfortunately EGR valves are going no where. Diesel technology is only getting more complex.
But EGR valves are getting much more reliable. And no where near as problematic as a few years ago.
