Trail rat , yes it will have very very slight play but due to the depth you have to use a single finger to feel for play , and TBA it’s very hard to feel any play at all in a good unit , if you use a torch and a mirror you will also see scuffs from the impeller marking the turbo body . If you use the torch / mirror method and the thread and no nut is visible your last chance is its stuck in the oil in the bottom of the inter cooler .

If it is the turbo and you keep driving it the impeller nut will come off and be sucked into the engine !!! Be warned !!!

Im a tech for citroen , you need to remove the turbo plastic pipe so you can see the impeller if you can wiggle it , it’s f##ked , you will need to replace the turbo THE OIL PUMP FEED FILTER , the turbo feed and return pipes and don’t buy a **** e bay turbo , only use fully synth oil and flush it x2 . It has been caused by lack of servicing or poor servicing the main one being changing the oil when not fully warmed up and using poor oil . Message me if you need any other info .
20 years at citroen for my sins !!!

Marko yes , they do kill turbos if not serviced correctly , the oil pump has a filter / gauze that becomes clogged if not serviced correctly / correct oil used / ran low , but to be fare , 2 year or 20000 miles servicing is a lot to ask from 3.5 litres or oil and most people don’t check the oil once between servicing . You can distroy anything if your stupid enough !!!

Hora , in my opinion , 1.6 hdi (dv6) or older 2.0 hdi both great Diesel engines that ford / Volvo / Mazda use and change its name .

I run a brand new fox float 150 fork with 203 formula rotor and can get the same vibration/flex when using an all mountain / trail bike for downhill , I just asumed that the previous statement was the issue !!! Wrong bike for the style of riding , never have an issue when trail centre riding ??? Has never bothered me TBA

I’ve got kashima on my forks and shock, IMO I can feel the difference on the forks ( will actually use full travel , unlike my non kash floats ) but nothing on the rear shock ? Poss something to do with low pressure sensitivity improvement , obviously much less so with my fat arse on the rear shock running near 200psi !!!

I use 661 evos and bought medium felt too tight at first , after a few rides and a wash now much slacker and I’m considering having an inch taken out of the straps to make them tighter !!! Sounds to me a small is what you want mate !!!

I got the low friction bushes when I kashima upgraded and custom tuned my shock , because of all the changes obviously had to pick out individual improvements but in my head less friction is better and when I bolted up one end of my shock before with old du bushes It was solid , with plastic it’s almost no friction when fully Torqued up !!!
    Hope it helps

Using the starter for stop start system is noisy and slow to re start , psa use a 3 phase altanator , restarts silently , much better and quieter !!! @ £500 optional extra

Had an italian car sales man where I used to work , he was about to put the ” car of the week ” on the 6 foot ramp , when I asked him if he could drive an automatic ? Offended at me casting doubt at his red blooded Italian driving skills , he jumped in the car floors it and launched off the end of the ramp with the car going full throttle , cleared a good 10 foot dukes of Hazard style and wrote the car off and a Chinese take away sign as well !!! Apparently his foot got stuck going for the clutch that obviously wasn’t there !!!

After checking , the the basics , timing , injectors , etc , there was a common fault that the inlet manifold became carbon ed up and caused misfire and is only an issue with the early mono point injection .
It’s easy to check , remove the throttle cable , fuel pipes and x6 10 mm nuts and have a look with a mirror and a torch !!!
You owe me a pint if I’m right !!!
    Good luck

Dw8 fuel pump used to seize the cold start linkage . Have you disconnected the cable and checked its free ? Tbh in years I’ve only seen 2/3 fail !!! Unlucky if so . Get your self an old school choke cable and just use that . Last time I did it for a ” tight ” friend I fitted a 2cv one that was getting binned as old stock . Worked great !!!

I went from a 680 bar and a 75mm stem to 750 bar and a 50 stem , transformed my down hill confidence and speed and didn’t make my climbing much worse . Made bike more ” chuck able “
    If that makes sense ???

EGR valve will clog up / seize up / go faulty on every diesel car/van it’s even worse on the latest euro 4/5 cars also particle filters will block for fun . It’s just one of those things and is cause by emission laws . Worse on cars driven gentle and round town .

Bought xtr trail pedals , have no issues clipping out , but find the major improvement over race spds is clipping In on the trail . Don’t think I would ever use anything else .

Speak to BMW , strongly suspect it won’t be the first time they have heard of the fault , have you googled it ? Poss oil viscosity too thick ? If its only a cold start issue and if no problem selecting first gear it sounds like your clutch is ok

    chrisdiesel
    Free Member

If its a manual and without having it checked properly if it selects reverse without the engine running it’s very possibly a clutch problem . Also if it does select ok when cold without the engine running do that until you get it looked at . I.e depress the clutch select reverse and start the car in the morning .

My Shimano bb last me 3 months and fsa lasted 6 months , second fsa starting to make bad noises now , not great but fsa are £30 and I steam clean the sh*t off it after most rides so that doesn’t help I recon , looked into getting an enduro ceramic bb but at £150 and unsure if that much better .
