My bike now has the monarch plus at the rear and pike up front, the monarch is good no complains at all but not out of this world better like the change from float 150 to the pike 160 saying that I’ve only had a 3/4 rides on it so early days

Trout I’ve sent you an e mail before you have it looked at try GT85 on the steering u/j in the engine bay, they are open to dirt and salt off the road getting to the bearing and get stiff spots on rotation. Soak it and try again.

If the noise is only in one direction are you sure your not hearing the power steering ram ” knock ” at full extent that again is to a more or less normal. Give me the last 8 I’ll look into it for you.

Ok I’ve not read all the thread so don’t flame me if it’s already been said BUT if it’s an early ( new shape I.e mk3 it was a common fault and is a combination of hydro fluid knock from the pipe movement and front shockers if you cannot feel any play and only hear it when stationary lock to lock then don’t worrie about it. Or give me the last 8 of the vin and I’ll tell you the parts you need to sort it.

I’ve got 160mm pikes running with no tokens
I’ve tried to set them up like my previous floats with 5/6 clicks from full slow and they felt terrible, everything I’ve read on mtbr ( huge thread about pikes ) says most people run 30% sag and 3/4 click from full fast on high and slow speed. I tried this today and it felt great but that’s just my opinion

Hora I’ve not read through the whole feed but if it’s a 1.6 16v I have a new coil pack you can try and it is a fairly common issue

No !!!! before a big change on my bike I had 2012 fox float kashima fork and kash RP23
I fitted a kmc x10SL chain also!!! Kashima 2012 onwards gold is much darker almost bronze. The kmc chain is as gold as the real thing.

In 20 years I’ve only ever seen people in the motor trade use these kind of thing too increase a service bill!!! Cold weather/air filter/ tire pressures all make a difference and non of these “cleaners” can be used on a new ish high pressure diesel with a particle filter etc due possible damage.
I was always told these diesel cleaner main 95% ingreadient is ether/petrol!!!

“My friend” did the same thing doing side work for himself, not stealing customers or using the company parts or tools BUT when it came to light and the bosses found out he very quickly learnt that the law and employment law are very different and proof wasn’t required in the same way as you would suspect!!!
Be very careful, do it by all means but understand if/when it comes to light your going to be self-employed the next day!!! If you have no kids/mortgages go for it start your own biz and hopefully it will be the best thing you ever done but understand the risks!!!

I went from 680 to 710 to now 800 and I really love the wide feel and confidence at high speed, twitchy on slow speed climbs but would never go back to less.

I’ve not the new monarch plus but not on a 5.
I’ve got it on a zesty but was told without proper custom tune, I couldn’t go far wrong with high volume medium medium, hope feels good so far but only a few rides in , strange knock feel when in lock out but apart from that it’s cool.

I had a 2011 zesty with a 1 degree works headset and a 150mm fork now I’ve got a 2013 zesty again with a 1 degree slacker headset and a 160mm fork both felt great!!!

Ignore my advise if you want but I’ve gone the complete custom zesty route and done everything except 160mm because riding my mates spicy I didn’t feel it was any better and I only ride in Europe and Scotland a few times a year!!! Here is my build
    2013 414 frame
Slacker head set (works) 66 degrees now
    160 2014 pike fork
    2014 rockshox monarch rc3 shox
    Crank bros iodine 2013
    50mm 35 easton stem
    800mm easton 35 bars
    Formula ro 2012
Xt group set and clutch mech
    2.4 black chilli rubber queens
It doesn’t climb as well as standard but point it down and it rides better than anything I’ve ever ridden and it felt better at stiniog than my friends nomad or enduro

Went from fox float 32 150 RLC kashima 2012 to 2014 pikes both great forks but pikes are just amazing but as above said, I was trying to use 32 150mm floats for stiniog and on heavy braking and fast double blacks it flexed badly!!!
With no proof other than feeling but I genuinely feel I have never descended as fast with my new pikes and no flex and use the travel so well!!!

Love my pikes that much I’ve binned my rp23 and just fitted a 2014 monarch rc3 plus. Cannot wait to try it out!!!
The new pike is the only bike part I’ve ever bought I’ve been unable to find a bad review/blog/ report about!!!

Lock your bike at the Starbucks across the road, they even have a puncture repair kit and pump if you get a flat.

Love my new pikes, set them up like my fox floats with 5 clicks from full slow rebound felt terrible as above wound it all the way fast bar a few clicks and even though it sounds like BS I swear I’ve never descended so fast and had a fork feel so good.

I’m replacing an RP23 boost valve kashima, standard was a bit naf, had loco tune it and low friction DU bushes, improved it loads but still find blows through the travel and pro pedal is poor.

The monarch plus rc3 I’ve ordered is 200×57 going on a 2013 zesty with a new pike 160mm on the front
I’ve gone 50mm stem 800mm bars stronger wheels 2.4 tyres so kind of a half zesty/spicy mix

People are marmite about the look of xsara picasso but they are a good car!!! Keep the oil topped up and you should have any issues

Hora , no it hasn’t , good engine but watch for oil leak from the front of the head and noisy tappets from use with low or no oil!!!
Much better than the under powered 8v version driving wise

Thanks for the responses, I wasn’t happy with my RP23 (stock) I sent it to loco to have a kashima upgrade and custom tune and address the poor pro pedal performance, the shock descends great does blow through the travel a bit quick but the pro pedal is still terrible can almost not feel any difference!!! But when my bike had a stock rp2 the pro pedal was almost like a lock out!!!
I’ve heard good things about the rc3 and have always had fox stuff all the way until I fitted the new pike forks, now I’ve kind of seen the light and fancy trying out other brands

My new pikes did this today, realised I wasn’t running enough air pressure and was way over 30% sag added more air and that 2mm clunk went!!! Hope it helps!!!
How are you getting on with your high/low rebounds cannot seem to find a sweet spot yet, obviously early days yet.
