I’m on a Fuel 9.8 – say hello as you whip past me uphill ;)

Probably going to head down and ride some bits of it tomorrow morning.

The chat I’m getting is that the second climb will be a bit killer.

    Descents look fun though.

go with a High Roller up front and an Ardent at the back

    This.

Although Ardents really aren’t bad on roots so if you’re scared of them with an Ardent on the front don’t expect it all to be sunshine and love with a HR.

    According to Hub site –

Cardie Hill climb (climb to Buzzards), Zoom or Bust, Blue return, and Blue Velvet will be used for the race so will be closed to general traffic-diversions will be in place. Trails all open Sunday as usual.

So if it’s start/finish at the Hub assume it will go up the fire road at bottom of Spooky climb?

11k isn’t that long – what is the Hub > Spooky bottom in height gain?

Bit left field but I just got a PRO Turnix and it’s really comfy. Lots of my friends swear by Fizik Gobi.

It’s all personal preference in the end though lets be honest. Take your pick and be prepared to change again if it slices you in two.

Cleaned my bike and kit last night.

Half Leanachan forest is now down my drain and my bike is shagged!

    Serious TLC required!

Leith is good for that money – The Shore, Bonnington/Broughton/MacDonald Road kind of area is an easy walk or cycle into town. Hillside/London Road area probably good VFM at that money.

Dalry is pretty up and coming just now as is Fountainbridge. Might struggle with that money in Bruntsfield but Viewforth area would get you something good.

Lots of options, best thing is to come up and have a wander around the different areas. Buses are plentiful. Lots of good cycle paths once you know where they are.

especially as people have already pointed out the guy towards to end just after the bridge and short hill and the lads on the final section.

Totally agree – totally powered up that short hill every lap with his encouragement!

    Positions/Times are up. http://www.nofussevents.co.uk/event/10-Under-The-Ben/1805/%5B/url%5D

Pretty awesome doing 12 laps solo in that weather – great effort – only two laps over an hour!

Pretty chuffed with my 77th to be honest!

Managed 5 laps solo – it was wet but it wasn’t windy and wasn’t cold if you kept moving so it could have been a lot worse! Got through a set of rear pads – the sandy soil up there is killer!

The course was good, the natural sections were pretty tricky but they were rideable – problem was that there were so many people walking that you struggled to put a line together so lost momentum and ended up walking too.

Organisation was excellent as usual and the banter on course was good!

I settled on a 70mm stem after trying a few lengths, 70 felt not too short as to lose climbing ability but sharpened up the steering nicely.

I’d also go for 700 ish bars. Combination transforms the bike coming down in techy/steep sections imo.

Spotify, and audacity to record it, then its easy to edit out any ads. Great for odd tracks, but a slight faff if its a whole album you want.

Seriously? Do you actually do this?

If so that is the saddest thing I have heard in years.

My other half has a factory seconds Rab Summit but made in England. I have a Rab Summit that was made after they made the switch, huge difference between them. His doesn’t leak at all. Mine leaks all the time. It’s toasty warm though

What do you mean it ‘it leaks’ down or water?

Rab is far better quality than TNF nowadays. Down and fabric.

Personally I’d go for the Vango on the grounds that if a pole or part breaks their back up service is very good – won’t be a problem to get a replacement. Coleman are not good.

How do you think the Coffee and Milk get to the Starbucks?

They get delivered. By a lorry. It uses diesel. A lot.

Diesel attracts VAT increase + an increase in fuel duty.

Doubt the maths justify a 10p increase in a cup of coffee but prices will rise to maintain a retailers margin.

Unfortunately he ended up in the hedge.

Fine i.e. passable for the last 30 miles or so into Edinburgh but not quick – probably averaging about 30mph over the last 3 days and not any better road wise today.

LOL ABS. Wouldn’t like to be that guys insurance company.

Avoid touching brakes, steering wheel or throttle as much as possible.

If you have to touch them touch them gently. Caress them like you would a fine women.

    1981 miked.

All I’m asking is that when the conditions aren’t good the artics pull over and accept that they are not in a suitable vehicle for the conditions. If a car slides off the road it might close the road for an hour. If an artic jacknives we all end up sitting around for hours.
