Normally OK for me but recently ordered a pair of shoes shown as in stock but not actually.

This is typical of a lot of mail order businesses – their stock control systems can be useless. I really don’t want to order something that isn’t in stock….and they take your money!

Solution? I ring them up to order…..

Communication is the name of the game.

You’re not alone, I’ve made many instances of premature knob failure with Schwalbe Trailstar tyres. Trailstar seems to tear, whereas Vertstar wears down, how does Pacestar do in comparison?

So far all that’s worn off are the stipples – wear rate seems really good and I haven’t had any similar damage as the trailstar compound. I do a fair few miles so I’m very pleased with them, best tyres I’ve used in 20 years…

I run HD’s in the Pacestar compound F&R on my Nerve (Flow rims) and I am very happy with them. I did have a trailstar version but found it too soft and ended up with knob damage…. 🙄 ..prematurely…. 🙄 ….

Nobby Nic and HD are not the same tyre.

Much prefer the grip of the HD, never got on with NNs in corners.

HD not the fastest nor the slowest, I love them for their predictable control and the Pacestar version wears well.

Forget those silly wheel sizes. Droppers are the real innovation.

Loosen the stem and tighten the top cap until there’s no movement but the bearings turn smoothly, re-tighten the stem.

If the bearings don’t run smooth the headset could be worn out or you over tightened it.

Got Alpkit Dozers, great value, if you get a flatty send it back and they will replace it for free if it’s a manufacturing failure.

Great service all round at Alpkit

Go to the headset finder on Cane Creek’s website and it will give you the SHIS number for each race. You can then buy whatever headset you fancy.

it’s also important to point out that if you’re tending towards the heavy side that most air shocks simply won’t work for you.

Even a standard coil like a Van RC with the right weight spring will out perform the finest air shock if you have to stick 300psi in it to stop it bottoming.

Never had a problem with my Canyon. If you don’t like it when it arrives then put it back in the box and send it back.

Make sure you don’t over tighten the seat clamp, it will make the reverb stick.

Got mine from merlin with bleed kit and collar (whatever that’s for)

That collar just cost me £40 plus £50 for a service to fit it!

Don’t give a proverbial either way.

There is no “better” – ride what you got and enjoy it. If you ever get into the world where wheel size makes a difference to what you earn then congratulations.

In the mean time…..get on with what you are at and stop trying to suggest other people don’t know what they want because there kit is marginally different from yours.

After all, life is too short and the craic is what it’s all about.

    Amen!

Just for the sake of balance I have Hope Hoops with Flows and SP hubs. To date (18 months) I have not had a single problem with them. I’m a complete porker so they do for me!

You could talk to the adjacent landowners and negotiate an easement. Just make sure the contract is water tight (sic)!

I have 2.35 HDs on my full suss and hard tail. Running tubeless on Flows.

I have tried many tyres over the years but I really like them. They really do just about everything well. Sure, they can clog in araldite but they soon clear. Great grip right across the profile, no punctures in 18 momths (that will have blown it!) and they are a good price on bike-discount.de

I have tried the Trailstar compound but it’s too soft – the knobs damage easily. I just use the Pacestar version, no discernable difference in grip and no knob damage (sic)…!
