Have a look at the Vango F10 range, I have owned the Spindrift and it was utterly bombproof, also pitches outer tent first. I still have a Nitro 200+ and it is ace. I also had an MH Trango 3 for nearly ten years and it was also utterly solid, UV got it in the end.

If you download the “Citymapper” app it will provide you with all the details you need. If you don’t fancy the tube there will be a bus.

Don’t use tweezers it squeezes their insides into you (and that’s how you get infections) a tick twister is the best solution.

There are towing orders on roads round Otley that are nowhere near the route. I do wonder whether they will have enough tow trucks.

Well I live up here and literally every field adjacent to the route is an ‘official’ campsite or car park. Even the sheep are paying rent!

    Good luck.

If it stops the sloppy shifting caused by pushing the b screw all the way in then I’m all for it. Drives me nuts!!

I have a knackered old wheel that I inflate new tubeless tyres on with a tube for 24hrs before I fit it to my Flow EX. This gets rid of dinks in the bead from folding.

After that I use a Phaart track pump from On-One. It has a dual function valve and a good volume.

My Canyon Nerve AM is now nearly two years old, I have had not one jot of trouble with it. I haven’t had to change the bearings in the rear suspension and they are still play-free.

Don’t listen to the odd complainant feeling like they made a mistake, every company has issues at some point. I have known of fails with the majority of them. Why do people give direct suppliers such a hard time? Maybe they are risk averse and resent those who are willing to “take a chance”… I don’t know the answer and I’m no apologist.

Something like the Force Ten Nitro 200+ would suit, however a bit pricey… The lower spec Pulsar 200 is essentially the same tent. I have the nitro and the extended porch is brilliant for storage and cooking in crap weather.

Air beds are normally really cold as the air inside adopts ground temperature. Either make sure you have a proper insulation layer under it or on top.

We had our eldest in the tent at 10 weeks old and 12 weeks with the boy. They are 13 and 5 now and both just treat camping as something they “just do” – we kept them warm with a proper sleeping mat and wedged in between us with a kids sleeping bag. The eldest spent her first nights camping wrapped in a down jacket!

The main thing is to just treat it as a normal thing, don’t let them set the agenda, stick to a similar bedtime as at home and if they do kick off use distraction etc. We have stuck the boy in the car at 0500 and gone for a drive to lessen the annoyance (bit of a rare one that).

It’s very much a case of making it “normal practice”. We also find that going away with other friends and their families helps; more experienced kids help the noobs settle in.

Good luck and keep it up.

I withdrew after discovering I was in Holmfirth on Stage 2 when I live in Otley. I asked for Stage 1 – can’t do the Sunday.

I was, and still am, well pissed off…

Great review, thanks! Carbine 29 it is….

However, is it just me or do the forks on the 27.5 Carbine look like it’s been ridden into a wall. Surely they’re bent at the crown?

    Cheers

Keep it switched on all the time, only turn off to drop the rear wheel out.

My Superstar freewheel failed. I took it off, posted it back to them and got a new one by return.

The wheelset was cheap (I couldn’t afford Hope etc, at the time) so I took the risk and they kept their end of the bargain.

As in all these things it’s a matter of courtesy.

Someone in the amateur “peloton” could possibly realise they are causing some frustration in other road users. But if they did they wouldn’t be riding with all the other ignoramuses…

I’ve been a cyclist all my life, even ran a club for a while. Sacked it due to indiscipline on the road.

I hate riding in groups and stick to the trails/lanes now.

The answer is a dropper post, I have a 140mm (rear) FS and a HT. So long as the saddle
goes down you can compensate for the chatter DH. Climbing and acceleration much nicer on the HT.

I use the HT (1×10) much more than the HT – until it’s trail centre time, then the FS comes into its own. Both with droppers.

I am 6’2″ but I have a long back and this really confused the Canyon software, said I needed XS!!!

Fair to say a L in the Nerve AM fits me fine.

2.35″ tubeless HD’s here (30psi fr 32 psi r) – Reverb (get that seat down) – knees bent, elbows bent, chest over the headset, let the bike move under you and 150mm+ forks – My C456 goes as well as my AM 150mm full suss.

Bald as a coot me. I always use either a hat, buff or similar during the middle of the day, a fair bit of slap too. Factor 30 ish. As soon as the angle of exposure drops I’m there soaking it up.

As for riding, always, always wear a helmet so couldn’t comment.
