You will be surprised how quick the cables can wear internally. If the indexing starts to play up go for the simplest solution first.

The application of Occams Razor is fundamental in problem solving!

The boy asks to go to bed at 1900-1930 (he’ll be four at Christmas). The girl (12 in March) hates the thought of sleep in any circumstance but will go about 2100 if threatened with death.

I understand it gets worse as they get older.

Finally I figure it out. Anyway here’s my bike and after the effort it took to get this picture to view I’m exhausted.

Shimano XT convert here, always used Avids but swapped out recently (as shimano are easier for me to bleed) and the power and modulation is wicked.

I give up, there doesn’t seem any logical way to append a picture in thei **** forum 😛 🙁 🙁

In fact why can’t I delete this post ffs??????

You think you look bad? You should see me side on, if I stop by the trail people throw a bucket of water over me and try to push me back into the nearest lake….

Helen Skelton, hopefully (undoubtedly) she’d be quicker than me so I’d have to follow…

    Thankyou kindly.

I guess my question was kindof facetious – there are contradicting threads on here – Pacestar goes on the rear..OK?

I wouldn’t bother until it’s frozen. The northern descent (red) you have marked is a total bog even in summer.

The purple trail is doable but pretty taxing.

The green trail is very tough heading down unless you can outsprint a sheep.

I bought a 24″ wheeled mtb (bwin) off decathlon for my daughter a couple of years back. It was OK but it weighed more than my 20″ (26er) Rockhopper!

Make an appointment with your doctor tomorrow.

I used to feel that way and I take anti-depressants – they are not a statement of defeat – they just make me feel normal.

I like the Specialized BG Phenom 143mm – fits my pelvis perfectly.

    And there’s the hint….

I am amazed at how anyone could get away with no granny ring. Clearly you lot are half my weight and twice as fit…

As for 1×11? Looks nice, complete red herring.

I use HDs on both my bikes, running tubeless on Stans Flows.

I really can’t fault them for grip in the dry or wet. I’ve never pinched them, had a burp or owt. Just fit and check the pressures regularly.

They aren’t the fastest tyres on the planet but the grip in corners certainly outweighs the slight drag.

Bikediscount.de are doing them way cheaper than anywhere in the UK, I think it’s about £60 pair.

I have HDs on both my Nerve AM and Blue Pig – running tubeless. Brilliant tyres, do most things well. The 60 euro price tag is a steal, in fact I have ordered a pair just to keep in the cupboard…!

TFT do a Pushed version of the VanRC, I have it on my Nerve AM, fit and forget – just does the job, doesn’t bottom out and sticks to the ground.

    Coil all the way.

I got a 2012 Nerve AM – fantastic bike – can’t fault it and I can’t wait to get out on it.

Thanks for all your thoughts; keep them coming, someone else will find them useful too.

    Cheers 🙂

I got some Polaris ones off Ebay, not tried them yet but they were from Absolutecycles and come with padding. £38.95 free p&p.

I use a Thule tow bar mounted rack, just bought the right letters for my reg and stuck them to it without buying a plate. Still mostly complete and never been pulled (yet)…

I’m running HD’s on both my bikes (tubeless on Stans Flows). I have never had a problem with them, they grip in just about all conditions (they aren’t a mud tyre but it has to be pretty crap before they lose grip) and corner very nicely.

If they are draggy on roads then I haven’t noticed, but then I only ride on the road inbetween the off road bits…

    Recommended.

As frustrating as it may feel (God, you want that frame built up and to be out riding it) I’d send it back and ask for one without a dodgy weld.
