Heading out to adjust the banjos now!! It does look like a willy I agree. It’s chained to a running machine in a upstairs bedroom. Scumbags aren’t having this!!

I have a x9 10 speed ( short I think) that randomly came apart in 2 at the arm. It looks like it just pushes in and is secured by the clip if you want it for spares or repair. Free of course. Pm me if interested as going out now. Loving everyone’s offers!! Well done chaps

    Edit. and ladies

Thanks. I like it for my transporter. It looks better than lashing the bike to the racking. I have a spare Thule bar set here so might have a play at the weekend.

Wobbliscott – loving the rack. Is that a standard Thule bar with a fork up adapter ? How do you attach to the car?

Can’t help with most of you questions, or infact any of them but I put a deposit on a 2.0 s max today. I’ve done loads of research and spoken to lots of people who have/hire them and everybody raves about them. I’m coming from a V6 Audi A6 so it has a lot to live up to. Most people told me to go for either the 2.0 or the 2.2 as the 1.8 is under powered and uses more fuel than the 2.0 as you need to drive it harder. Go for the Titanium model if you can as it has all the bells and whistles. I really wanted a 2.2 but budget didn’t stretch that far as I’ve also brought a VW T5 for work and biking.

The Black Lion pub has a lovely cottage just a few yards from the pub and the Red trail. We have stayed many times and can recommend it. Also, the pub does amazing food!! Cottage is called Cothi view.

Cracked my steered a few weeks back in France. I didn’t even fall off! Just felt a odd movement in the bars so took the forks out to clean everything. It was about 2 inches long and decided after posting in here not to ride them due to what LoCo said. If it fails, you will die!!! Luckily, the CSU’s we’re replaced 14 months ago by Mojo and they replaced them FOC. When I had them done 14 months ago, the bill was £360 inc bushes! (Fox 36 talas)!

I’ve been using a 9 speed chain set with a 10 speed set up for 2 years with no problems what so ever!

Geared bikes in Chichester are really good. If I remember correctly its about £120. I don’t road ride anymore, but have done the London to Paris a few times. First time I just put the saddle up and rode (lots of pain) second time, had Geared do a fit. No pain at all. I had the bike set up for comfort rather than speed due to the high distance. Personally, I think it’s a must for road riders as you get more power out of your legs if the bike is set up correctly.
Wouldn’t bother on the MTB as I’m not in the saddle enough.

Just about to order a new mark 2 frame as finding a second hand one is like finding rocking horse pooh. I’ve been looking for ages. Going to ride Peaslake in Surrey today with the hope that Pedal and Spoke is open to try one quickly. Will let you know how I get on.

Have you seen the black one on EBay is Surrey? It’s a Medium but built up really well. You could buy and sell the parts!

Edit. And the Medium just listed on eBay

I had this on 36’s and spoke to Fox at a demo day. they called it the fox knock and was told it was normal. Mine done it with no load on ( off the bike ) and rocked it backward and forwards with the front brake on.

In a few days I’m posting a foresale ad with some 2009 36 160’Talas in white. Just had a new set of stantions from Mojo with new seals and service. Have not even fitted them to a bike since the work. They are the RC2 version with high/ low compression and rebound. The lowers have a few light scratches but the rest is brand new. They had new bushes and Talas system 13 months ago at Mojo ( the new ones are a warranty replacement).

    After £360 posted.

Thanks Nowthen, the new Fox vans look like the stand over hight is the same as the 160s as the extra 20mm is lower than the axle ( I might be wrong ). I run a 50mm stem at the mo. the front end isn’t too lite on the flat stuff is it??

Trail rat, are you calling me a baboon?? Haha :-)

Still not sure how it happened. It may have been like it for a while and it was a coincidence that I had issues With the Headset today. It just didn’t feel right and had an odd noise and slight movement under braking that could be felt if you held the headset. I took the fork out to clean everything out as it was really wet and muddy here yesterday and noticed the crack when cleaning.

We’re in Sameon, so just over the ridge from Morzine. I’m going to very gingerly ride into LEs Getz In the morning and scout the bike shops in my very limited French.

Yeah, have decided to not ride with the forks. Just trying to work out what to go for and how to get them here ASAP

Thanks Neiloxford. Sat here with a bottle of wine wondering what option to take. UPS new forks did cross my mind so might call CRC in the morning.

I haven’t touched the stem since they were serviced 3 weeks ago, so I’m not sure over tightening was the problem. Not sure what was tho!

I’m not a massive hitter but hitting some larger than normal stuff here so don’t really want to take the risk of bode repair if I can help it! I would quite like to see my wife and kids again!!

Day 2 out or 7 so not good. New fork don’t massively bother me but the prices are pretty high here. If they fail, they will fail catastrofically and result in instant death!! Also, if I drill the hole and hope for the best, I’ll ride like Miss Daisy for the rest of the week worrying about it!

This is my 2011. Its now running 1×10, Orange Easton Havoc bars and stem, dropper post and bigger tyres. It rides up pretty well but the RP23 isn’t the best as it blows through its travel very easily. I’ve put a large lump of grease in the body of the shock and it makes a massive difference.

Took it to the Alps last year and again tomorrow for a week and its a joy to ride. It takes anything I can throw at it. I totally love the bike but my riding style is changing so looking at going to a Nomad when I get back.

You will not be disappointed in any way. It works really really well with the Fox 36 apart from on low gradient fast trails as the front is quite loose. I drop the forks down to 130mm on the Talas and it sorts the problem.

Just seen you last post. Turn screw anti clockwise 1/8 of a turn and check. Low pressure is better than high. Good luck

The only way without testing equipment is by eye. This isn’t an exact way of commissioning, but it should work ok until help arrives. It can only be done on the newer Riello RDB burners as you can remove the photo cell and see the flame. If you have a grey 4×3 inch box on the top of the burner, than this won’t work as you can’t see the flame. If its a newer one, remove the photocell ( black wire going to centre of burner) it wiggles out and is 3 inches long. You may need to shine a torch into this to stop the burner going to lockout. You should then see the flame through the hole. It should be crisp,Xmas tree shaped and bright orange. It should not be touching the back of the boiler or be limp and blurred.

Mundiesmieser, that flat screw slot is not the bleed. You have adjusted the oil pressure in the pump. You need a oil pressure gauge to re-set it. If its too low or high, the boiler will soot. If its very high you run the risk if burning the back of the boiler out. The bleed is the 15mm nut below the slot. DO NOT fire the boiler until the pressure has been correctly adjusted. Where are you??

I run Talas 36 160 on the front with a RP23 rear shock. It’s perfect for the Alps, but as some of the other posts state, I find in need to drop it down to 140 mm on some of my local trails to stop the front from washing out.

Went last year with Bikealp in samoen. I can’t recommend them more. Amazing riding, amazing food. Steve is a fantastic guide who will cater for any level. Have just booked again for July. The trails are mostly natural and very quiet with the option to ride in Morzine if you want as its just ridge away.

I have these wheels (2011) and in the past 12 months I’ve been through 3 sets of front and rear bearings and a free hub. Contact Jake at 2pure. Lovely looking wheels but would never buy them again. Good luck

Don’t bleed while the pump is running. The oil pump runs at 130psi and will spray oil everywhere. Only a small amount of oil will drip from the bleed port. At what point does the burner lock out? Does the motor run?
The burner runs in a sequence starting with motor running….solonoid coil lifting and ignition……establish flame…..photo cell recognising flame and stopping ignition. What bit are you getting to?

We did the same last week with EasyJet and can’t compliment them enough. At Gatwick a lady came over and took us to the front of the huge queue. Then we took the bikes ( under 32Kg in a bag ) to the over sized luggage man ( right hand side of desks ) and that was it. Bikes arrived with bags totally unmarked via the oversized baggage counter that is situated half way down on the right of the baggage hall in Geneva. On return the bikes came out of a set of doors to the side of our reclaim belt, again with no damage. Just make sure that the bike bag only has the bike and spares in, and not clothing. We took another hold bag each of 18Kg giving us a total of 50Kg each plus hand luggage.

Easy!!! Enjoy, the riding is awesome!!

I fit a fair few oil boilers and only fit Grant. They use the best burners (Riello) and have a great service dept. Warranties are very good as they allow any Oftec engineer to carry our repairs and then pay them direct. The vortex external is a very efficient reliable boiler.
