In the very short ride I had on one ( a full demo is booked!) it rode beautifully. The extra 25mm on the top tude really helps as I have stupid long arms and just over 6ft. I want it not because it’s carbon, but as it rides so nicely and ticks all my boxes.

I have brought 3 frames through the dealer and he is offering me 10% off. I’ll chat to him re. Warranty/crash replacement etc.

I’m sat here tho looking at the Nomad and damn that’s a nice bike

Molgrips – I know and I’m sure it’s just as many. The fact that SC have the confidence to offer lifetime warranty helps.

I’ve just watched that SC video again, and that really is impressive. My concerns were the amount that fail, but people only post on the net when they have a problem and never when things are going well. Like it was said above, a 3k frame should never break, but when it does, people shout from the roof tops. I’m sure out of all the carbon frames sold only 1% ever break.

My Nomad is the Last of the 26″ brought late 2013. I love it to bits, but I want to get back into doing loner rides and the Nomad isn’t the best climber in the world. I wasn’t going to change it until I saw the new Bronson. It’s sooo much lighter! I know it’s not going to be as good going down hill, but it’ll do everything else better. The Nomad for me only comes into its own in the Alps and I couldn’t think of a better bike out there. I just can’t justify keeping it in the shed for one weeks riding a year. I’m also stunned by how little it’s now worth!

Tomhoward – that’s good to hear! I think it’s just the sound it makes when you tap it. Sound like you could snap it in two with your hands. I know you can’t but you know what I mean!
Poison spider – it’s just new materials like carbon/plastic pipe. I came into the industry before plastic pipe was used and never felt happy swapping what I used. I wasn’t directly comparing plastic and carbon. It’s just a fear of the Unknown I guess.

I’ve seen the video, and it’s very impressive, but it still feels like plastic to me.

I was a plumber/heating engineer for 17 years up to last year and I never used any plastic pipe. The copper just feel more robust. Same theory with bikes I suppose.

40MPG – I think I read it’s 5 years, but I only keep things for 2 maybe 3 including our cars so that’s ok. I get bored easily!! I’m suprized my wife has lasted 10!!

I have my SC Nomad on Gumtree at the moment and so far I’ve had 3 different offers to pay full price via PayPal right away. I responded to one of them asking for a bank transfer but had a reply saying that they were blind and were confined to a wheel chair and couldn’t use the computer to transfer!! They didn’t reply to my email asking how they would ride the bike or even reply to my email if they were blind!! Never using Gumtree again!

I’ve got a 2014 (26″ brought sept 13) Alu Nomad which was a 6K build I’m selling next week to fund the new Bronson if interested. Very high spec and want £2.5k for. Not sure where you’re based, but Pedal and Spoke in Surrey have both Bronsons for demo.

I sat on a new Bronson yesterday and it felt perfect. I know you can’t tell by just sitting, but I’m in love! I ride a mk 2 nomad in Lrg and the exta 25mm on the top tube felt much better. If was also extremely light, but it was a 5k build with carbon cranks etc. I was also looking at a discounted older Bronson, but it’s a new one for me now. I’m spending the day cleaning the Nomad and my Slackline ready for sale!!

I’m riding a rusty 15 year old Apollo, so hopefully it’ll
Make it!! Gates open at 08.00 I think so I’m aiming for that as I would like to have a go at a few of the activities before the crowds start. Have fun and remember sun cream!!

I’m doing the same tomorrow as I live 2 miless away. Last time I rode to one of the entrance gates and just chained the bike to a fence post. Not sure they have a bike park this year or not. There are normally plenty of security guards at the gates, so bike should be pretty safe if it’s visible to them.

We have been going to 3 years now and are off again in 3 weeks. Fantastic riding, fantastic town. To get the best from it, grab a guide. Miles and miles of single track with some light DH stuff thrown in for good measure. We go with Bike Alp. Check the website for pics!!

Yep, here too. On a hours ride, I need to push the clips together maybe 5 times. It just seems to work loose when the trail gets rough. Mine is a few years old now so put it down to wear and tear. It’s the only reason I wouldn’t buy another.

I’ve just brought some 2014 fox 36 160mm for my Nomad, but going back to my 180mm. Black, kashima 160mm float RC2 FIT only used for one ride. Mint cond. Email me if interested.

If you are a member of CTC you can just turn up at any time. If not, you should buy a day pass from the CTc website for £6 although I have never been asked if I’ve paid. No time restrictions but they normally dig on the 1st Sunday of each month and close all the trails for the morning. I’m heading over tomorrow PM!!

My 5yr old isn’t allowed on the scooter or bike without one. We brought him a cool ##ss pot and he loves it. He does have a tendency to try silly tricks tho. The paramedic that is my Dad made me wear one as a kid it’s just gone down to the next generation.

I haven’t ridden the others, but my Nomad rocks!! Currently run with fox 180’s but just about to buy some 160’s for more all mountain Riding. I’m sure that’s no help to you!!

As above, but if you put it in an account with joint names, you’re covered for £85k each (£170k) We use Coventry savings or BM savings. We both have accounts in our own names and also a joint account. Interest will be rubbish as it’s short term tho.

Have you thought about the Nomad? It’s a bit beefier than the Bronson and pedals well too! I run mine with fox 36 180mm for uplift days and the Alps but just about to buy some fox 36 160’s for longer rides. Not sure where you’re based, but Pedal and Spoke in Surrey are very good for custom SC.

Friend of mine was a Ideal service/breakdown engineer but left after 3 months as he said it was embarrassing having to keep going back to the same customers over and over again. I’ve fitted maybe 200 boilers over the last 10 years and only fitted 2 ideals out of that. Had problems with both of them. I suggest a Glow Worm as a good mid range boiler.

I had a 2000 Prelude 2.2 Motegi ( limited) for a few years and it was lovely to drive. The 4 wheel steering is odd at first as it feels like the car is drifting slightly. Very well built and reliable all the time I owned it. I sold it to a local garage who then sold it on and apparently the gearbox went 2 weeks later. The warranty didn’t cover it and cost the poor chap 2k apparently. Would I have another one?? Yes, if they still made it. I think spares are hard to find too as somebody drove into the back of it and I had to wait 3 weeks for the repair company to source a new bumper.

We have the Vitamix and it’s great. I went mad when I found the receipt in the wife’s shopping bag!! Yes – it will turn pretty much anything into a liquid within seconds. The only down side is that it’s SO loud that our 1 year old runs a mile when he sees us loading it up! Oh, and the price!!!! It’s a motor and a blade and the end of the day and I’m sure a much cheaper one will do exactly the same.

We have paid around £30 for the last 3 years. That doesn’t cover Les Gets or Morzine tho.

We took a trip up during the summer. Loads of good sections to session. Some of the runs have a range of progressive jumps to learn on, which will be fine in a xc lid. We were there on the wettest day of the year and let’s just say that it was an ice rink!! Fell off multiple times and even decked it pushing up!!! Will definitely go back in the dry! Have fun!!

Had this on my Nomad with Mavic Sx wheels. It took the paint off the rotor. Ended up taking 0.5 mm off the mount. Sorted!!

Just found a company who cleans them and also a DIY kit. Map being removed on Wednesday so will try to regenerate after that first

    chris36860

It’s a pretty big finger pointing at the re map isn’t it!! It’s just odd that something is stopping the DPF to allow a forced regeneration. According to VW, if the soot is Below 95%, then regen is possible. Over 95% then it’s throw it away along with £1000 + !

Slightly worried as we had our Audi done at the same time, although that has done 500 miles since and no problems (fingers crossed)

I’m confused now!! Looking at buying a BFe for thrashing around over the winter. I want to be able to ride it around the likes of Brecfa but also my local DH track (slowly) as I have a Nomad bigger days and uplifts. Now not sure if I want a BFE or a Soul !!

Gixxer – how tall are you and what does that weigh roughly? I like the look of that!!

I have a set on my Nomad. As drovercyles said, they are very strong and pretty light. Totally love them. Spokes are easy to get hold of and cheap. They have been on for 6 months and have done mostly uplift days but still true and tight.

…..Or drive 20mins to Steyning downhill or kingley Vale or Whiteways lodge. All good riding spots. Jump on the train to chichester for shopping and beers. What ever you do, just get out of Bognor!!

Just booked For the 3rd year with Bike-Alp Sameons. Totally love it and loads of natrual stuff. We have a guide as you will never find all the hidden gems. It maybe worth emailing Steve at bike Alp (English guy)to see if you could join him for a day. The locally known trail called Chicken Run is amazing. Loads of natrual drops/gaps etc. we sometimes don’t see anybody else all day. The bike shop opposite the lift should also be able to help and they speak very good English too.
    What dates are you going?
