It’s possible, you can change the air shaft to alter the travel. I can’t think off the top of my head which air shaft you need, they are interchangeable with the pike/ lyrik air shafts.

    Nice colour frame that.
Watch out for the cable rub on the chain stay just after the cables emerge from the downtube, assuming they haven’t made any changes from the v4. Without some protection you’ll have large gouges in no time.

Personally, i prefer the Yari over the Pikes after running Pike for years I’ve swapped to Yari on both my bikes. Both 27.5 and 29 flavours, both unmodified and untouched after initial setup with tokens. Stiff, responsive and plush, I’ve yet to suffer any arm pump where this would often be the case on the Pikes. I am a Heffer and lack finess, this may be a factor why the Yaris suit me better!
No help to the OP, 27.5 Yari are currently available on Merlin for @£315.

I still have a CRC Pike spring kit to sell as I. I longer have any Pike forks, it doesn’t fit in the Yari I’m using. 160mm 650b, 22% sag at 100kg. The thin plastic stantion protection is bent out of shape after an attempted fit in the Yari but an alternative boulder be too difficult to source at a stationers or similar- £85 posted.

I bought one of these a few months ago for a second bike. I found it impossible to use whilst on the move and having to stop to adjust made it no easier than using a standard post with a QR, just marginally quicker. It broke by staying stuck down after not many rides and I returned it, I’m awaiting a replacement. 18bikes have been faultless throughout the process, quick comms and great service.

I’ve been using Pikes for years but I’ve now converted to Yari on both bikes. I can feel the difference of the stiffer chassis and I’m quite happy with the damping and the feel, I do weigh around 100kg so perhaps that’s a factor. Nothing wrong with the Pikes but at the current price in Merlin, Yari are a total bargain.

I have a 150mm air shaft but could do with a 140mm if you want to swap?

I’ve actually had a very quick reply off Richard about this, the Pike version will fit in Lyrik/Yari forks with an extra ‘wedge’ on top of the spring as the stantion is slightly longer. I was thinking that a bottomless token would do the trick with a bit of fettling.
I’ve not tried retorquing the top caps, I’ll give it a go cheers.

I’ve taken delivery of a spring set for a 160mm Pike just as the bleeding thing developed a creak from the CSU.
Will the kit fit directly into a Lyrik fork and give the same travel?

At the junction between the end of windy point and the start of energy there is a fire road. You can turn left and climb up to the start of helter skelter using that fire road.

Yep you can easily link up the trails using the forest roads, depending on where you want to start and end the ride. There are large maps at the centres to plan a route.

I’ve developed a taste for Tesco salted caramel flavour buns, they’re soo moorish. Toasted, salty butter and a good mug of tea, nom.

Salomon Sensibelt here for the last couple of months. Light as a feather until you slot the 600ml capacity water bottle in, it easily adjusts to your waist and I don’t notice any sloshing about when wearing it. There’s a small zipped pocket but I can carry all i need for 2-3 hour rides.

Jim beam double oak with a splash of water going down surprisingly nicely. Not as complex as Woodford estate but very smooth. Old vine ganacha with the curry earlier was tasty also.

Aide, sorry to hear that. Have you had a chat about it with somebody?

OP- approach your mates GP as a first call, tell him of your concerns and ask if he’ll go and see him on a home visit. He may have had previous contact with him for similar issues and the GP can access the MH services for further assessment.

The bb is very poor, I replaced with a Hope bb which is far better. The cranks are ok though, no complaints about their durability or quality. You need specific tools to fit/remove the cranks and chain rings, the instructions found online are straightforward.

Geez, more than a few of us experiencing these then. They started for me around 3 years ago, all post ride so I put them down to dehydration or fatigue. Not too often, every few months or so. Then I had one earlier this year but not after a ride- not dehydrated, tired or stressed so I panicked. Off to GP, had an eye test straight away, MRI a few weeks later that was all clear. The optician advised that it was a migraine type visual disturbance, as long as it didn’t last longer than 30 minutes or happen increasingly often, not to worry.

Anybody with real world experience of the Giant Contact SL dropper? It gets decent enough reviews, mainly in relation to the low price point.

Cheers CGG, I’ll give the current set up a few rides and see how I get on, the bb being raised was of some concern so I’ll keep the bushes in mind.

I’m a bit stumped as to how they’d be useful? It’s probably slack enough already with the fork/headset, around 66.8•, or do they do something different? Is the VPP affected?

Singlespeedstu, I have a 160 pike up front already, what is this shock reducer bush you mention?

Fitted and test ridden a 2 deg headset on my tallboy lt today. It makes hell of a difference decending, a lot less twitchy and doesn’t seem to get ‘hung up’ on rocks as it did before. The steering is a bit lazier but that’s a compromise I’m willing to take. Ascending is fine, apart from my cardio ability.

If you go through with the Sky cancellation you will be inundated with offers from them after a few months. The longer you hold out, the better the offers get. You can keep all the kit and the boxes work fine as free view in the meantime. You can usually pick up a nowtv box with deals on entertainment and sport packages at reduced prices pretty easily as well if you miss the sky channels.

You could get a bit more life out of them by packing with grease, most of mine were bone dry when I serviced the bike a few weeks ago. Particularly the biggest ones on the lower pivot point, they were the only ones that felt really graunchy. Check the small link that sits on the seat tube as well, there’s a weld in the centre of it that can fail.

    ‘Pop Art’ by Transvision Vamp.

Pubescent lust for the lead singer and (now) inexplicable appreciation of the ‘I want your love’ single led me to spend 2 weeks of paper round earnings on my first ever album.

Not clyne but nearby- I found a fallen tree dragged across a trail on Kilvey a few weeks ago, luckily I was trundling down on a warm up run.

Hi Tom, I’ve not ridden blade recently but all the bits of w2 were open and running well last weekend. Both centres have the same facilities- parking, cafe, bike shop. The Afan one is nearer to M4, about 15 mins cycle to the glyncorrwg centre from there.
All decents should be fine for the gf if she rode CYB, exception being the black option to the left of Zigzags, that’s a bit hairy.

think the warranty only one year, following up with commencal as bikes only 8 months old and emailed e.thirteen also. also noticed the crank pull is missing from the pack of bits also. mildly annoying to say the least……

I also didn’t get the crank extractor tool included in my pack from Commencal. A very kind gent at Silverfish posted one out to me just yesterday after I enquired, they’re the UK distro for E13.
My <3 month old Bb is starting to feel rough already with some rust showing around the edges. I’ll get onto bikescene about a Hope BB after the tip above.

It’s usually pretty chocker at the weekends, I suspect there were a lot of people at Cwmcarn for the WGE today.
You’re right though, it’s fast and fun at the moment, here’s to a long dry summer…

Yes, I bought some from a place called ‘the cycle clinic’ a few weeks back, I ordered a big bottle but they’d ran out of stock. Helpfully, they sent me 4 small bottles instead but said that they were due a delivery very soon.

The Bontrager is the same as a ghetto in principle also, they’re both just an accumulator for pressure. The airshot appealed to me as its a solid unit taking away the risk of deafening/soiling yourself when the ghetto goes ‘pop’! The Bonty looks like a great idea but pretty expensive and most people who run tubeless have a track pump already.

I saw one of these being demo’d a few weeks ago, did the job very nicely and should be a fair whack cheaper than the Bontrager (should they release it in the UK).

You’re welcome to try out my xl Yeti SB95 if you’re anywhere near S Wales?

Edit: I see you are in Scotland! I’d recommend the yeti though, fits me like a glove at 6’4
