6’3 and never felt totally comfortable on a bike until I rode a Geometron, circa 520mm reach. Of course other factors like head/seat tube angle and chain stay length influence things.

Out of interest, where did you source the charger from?

They’re official trails and easily found along the graveyard trail where they splinter off.

I meant to add- there’s nothing much new with official trails up Afan, ISTR that more were promised as a reward for all the wind turbine work being carried out?

I’d go for whites climb and first few sections of blade (is ghost train open now, I haven’t been up there for a while?), after helter skelter head towards peregrine ridge for the best bit of the final blade descent. Should be around 2 hours with maximum fun for the ascents.

I had an axle fail as per the OP so contacted Hope CS for advice. The person I spoke to insisted I must have installed the cranks incorrectly, when I stated that I’d followed the instructions to the letter said that breakages should be expected on mountain bikes. No mention of warranty or replacement for me.

Another set of M/l no good as they’re too tight. I’m happy to pass them on to a fellow forumite for £17 plus post if you missed them on Wiggle, get in touch before Friday though.

Heavy lad after something a bit more durable as well as being something that is infinitely adjustable? I have a Nicolai Geometron G13 frame for sale, rending in which bits you already have you could build it up for 1500-2000.
I have it on Pinkbike classifieds for more details and pics.

Fitted and ridden a 210 drop today, replacing a 170mm reverb (stealth ad). Looks and feels absolutely fine, does what it should the way it should, feels sturdy and a high quality finish to it. I still can’t slam the collar all the way into my frame at pedalling height, bring on the 250mm dropper!

Fantastic news that there’s a geometron bike hire, thanks all. I’m definitely ebike curious and would like to try out a G1 also.

The seals help prevent crap entering the lowers so why not, it’s going to extend the life of your damper and coil kit so well worth the little outlay and effort to change.

I bought my Lyrik Vorsprung kit from TfTuned a month or so ago, it came pre assembled so I didn’t need a few of the tools mentioned above. I’ve not tried the Push but I’m very pleased with what I have, supportive and plush over sustained rocky descents.

Willy, I had the same experience with being faster despite not feeling so. I’m still finding myself in corners having carried more speed than expected but the bike remains so composed its never an issue, apart from my heart rate.

Im still getting faster with every ride, perhaps because I’m getting fitter as a result of riding more ( due to increased enthusiasm for getting out with this frame).

    Looking good Willy!

Have you had a chance to get it out for a ride over the weekend?

We’ve not had any build pics for a while. This is my G13 built to withstand some punishment. I’ve had it for a few months now and it keeps getting better every ride, I’m still trying to find the limits of it but my nerve gives before the bike starts to struggle…

XLongest frame, Lyrik at 160mm, -2deg headset, CCDB in-line 130mm.

My thoughts with you on this worst of days Alan. Your nearest and dearest probably feel that you need time on your own tonight but I’m sure they will support and comfort you the best they can if you reach out to them, if you feel the need to not be alone.

Willy, I’m running a 150mm fork with standard 130mm rear, it’s more than ‘OK’ 😀

    Even better with a -2deg headset…

I’m the same as you, I get cramp in my left sometimes so I switch about but it doesn’t feel natural. I feel better with my stronger leg at the rear to manipulate the back wheel as needed.

i suppose you just have to do what feels right?

So glad this is on the right track for you OP. Depending on their assessment, the crisis team should be offering a few avenues such as:

full physical health screen to rule out any organic issues that could be influencing things

review of psychotropic meds by a psychiatrist

either home treatment or day unit to monitor things, this could mean phone calls/ home visits depending on their assessment

youll have their contact details for support and advice if needed

Help her to engage with their input as much as possible. This issue is unlikely to resolve itself  overnight so brace yourself and get the support you’ll need from family/ friends/ professionals as needed.

    All the best

Horrible position to find yourself in but sounds as if you have the right plans in place. Only wait to see the GP if you are very sure she presents no risk to herself tonight. But if she does then get her to A&E for assessment, if she won’t go willingly use the Police.

hopefully you’lll get her to the GP as planned and they will refer to a MH crisis team who will assess and will admit to inpatient services if appropriate. Telling him what you’ve written here should ensure they do this.

All the best, try and take some relief in that she has opened up before attempting anything.

Bigwig owner here. I had wanted to get a Moxie frame but missed out on the first batch so wanted a stop gap frame until the second batch land. I’m very impressed with the level of detailing and quality for such a cheap frame, the ride quality is excellent and I don’t miss rear sus unless I carry speed through rocks forgetting I’m on a Hardtail.

send me an email if you want some pics of a built up XL size.

I’ll add to the positive comments about the Scout. I’ve a 2016 model fitted with a ccdb IL coil and it handles everything I’ve previously ridden on 160-170mm travel bikes easily, as well as feeing more nimble and faster.
True, it’s not lightweight but It doesn’t feel sluggish to ride.

Snow on the tops this morning but a very thin layer that was melting quickly. A snow shower was moving in as I was leaving but I don’t think it will have lasted long. It’s very wet and sloppy everywhere, not the best time to be using the mast trails IMO, they just get ruined and cause headaches for the trail fairies.

This site is useful for figuring out which shaft you need:

    Air Shafts

    chopchop

You absolutely can use Pike airshafts, they are interchangeable with Yari shafts. I’d recommend the Yari, it’s a fine fork. TFTuned will have a coil conversion kit in the new year also.

Use a dremel or similar tool with a disc attachment, cut a groove big enough for the heftiest screwdriver you have then apply lots of downwards pressure whilst you use the screwdriver to take the bolt out.
I should imagine you’d be fine replacing it without torquing them all up again.

    Edit, beaten to it

The guy in the vid made hell of a meal of his demo, he’s also made his bike very ugly with that tyre carcas downtube protector.
Anyways, if its anything like a fox shock, gently pull down the bump stop (o ring) and metal plate that you’ve pictured then fit the spacer above them and push the lot to the top of the shaft, the spacer should click into place.

I love my Smuggler, running with Yari at 150mm and a fox shock. I’ve had many 29er frames and this is about the best so far. It’s not light but rides like a lighter bike. Cable rattle can be a PITA but no other issues for me.
I lust after the new longer travel Sentinel but in reality I don’t need it, the Smuggler is that good.

Edit- the rear tyre clearance on the seat stay brace is poor on my earlier frame but this was resolved 2016 onwards. I’ve had no issues with a minion dhr

I re dished a Hope/flow wheel to fit my new boost forks, it’s pretty easy and can be done with the wheel fitted to the fork so you don’t need any extra kit apart from a spoke key. I followed some instructions I found online, take your time and be methodical about it.

Kilvey Hill or Clyne Gardens could be an option for you, both are in central Swansea and have numerous trails.
