i think canals are brilliant. i always thought they seemed like a lot of effort to build but apparently 1 horse can pull 50 tons on a canal compared to 1/2 a ton in a cart. we should use canals for transporting non perishable goods around again.

    I didn’t know horses could swim 8O

I’m also hitting the big 3-0 this year and to celebrate/commiserate I’ve decided to do something I’ve never done before… I’m going on a snowboarding holiday!
I literally have no idea how to snowboard (or indeed ski) but here’s hoping I learn quick :]

I bought the bike from them 6 weeks ago to the tune of £1400. It went in for its first service and it came back with a “known issue” that it needs to go back to the factory for – I may well ask when I collect it tomorrow.

I saw a sign last week – a red triangle, with white background and all it had in the middle was and exclaimation mark… I mean, what the hell?!

We don’t just rely on oil for fuel, it is also an essential ingrediant in the manufacture of plastic! Can you imagine a future with no plastic??

Maybe they were short a few quid and needed to have your money in their account for a few days to cover some bills, They’ll pay you back after the end of the month.

I’m fairly new to this MTB lark (took it up in the summer) – I’m at the stage where i’m still fresh from being bitten by the bug, and it’s taken over my life pretty much!
To say it has been all-consuming is an understatement :]

Looking to buy a 3rd bike already heh

Nice to meet up with you guys today, hope the pace was ok, prob too fast for some and too slow for others, always difficult to get it right.

Heres the GPX of the route, probably only about 50% of my intended route!! But it was tough going!

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/61283520

Look forward to meeting you again.

Looking at the route you guys took, it looks like you went past my old flat on Winchester Road, just opposite the shops! :)

Very not good in clay-ey mud. Apart from that very good everywhere else i’ve used em…

To be fair, the clayey mud we encountered was like nothing else! I’m not sure any tyre had a chance in that :]

Bushwacked – +1 for M.E. here: got it after glandular fever :/

It’s taken me years to get back to any kind of normality – I can’t really say any more than what Timmo and Spikester have already said, except that you’re definitely not alone with this. You’ll be suprised actually how many people come out of the woodwork to say “me too” – something which gave me massive support during the early days when I thought it was “just me”.

It’s still early days for you yet after just a couple of months, and you might recover quicker than the more unfortunate ones like us, but you will need to *listen* to your body. I was doing night shifts at the time when I had the initial illness and I swear that made it exponentially worse.
My particular illness would come in waves (and indeed it still does to an extent), it would be a month of being ill, 2 weeks of starting to feel better then straight into being ill – rinse/repeat for 4 years.
Gradually the cycles became less and less severe til today where they are managable.
It really does play some funny games with your body, some of the symptoms are really quite bizarre. I’m not going to go in to detail here, but if need to talk to anyone about it, I really don’t mind you getting in contact – likewise, I found it really useful to talk to other sufferers in the earlier stages.

+1 Microsoft Security Essentials, I used to use AVG and AVAST but MSE wees over both of them, very unobtrusive, very light on system resources and very quiet.

It sits there and does its job.

    What more do you want?

got my eyes tested today, the contacts are gonna work out at £18 per month for monthly disposables or £35 per month for daily disposables…..didn’t think it was gonna be that expensive… I will be getting a free pair to see how I get on with them, as my astigmatism is on the borderline (whatever the hell that means.. think its for standard lenses..)

I may have to look for cheaper options…

http://www.lenstore.co.uk <—- I pay £35 for 3 months worth of lenses (toric extended wear lenses which you can sleep in!).

Trial some lenses out, find a brand you like/get on with and then buy through lenstore. *SO* much cheaper.

I recommend Biofinity Toric lenses for people with astigmatism, they really are comfortable.

I’m running Cyanogen Mod 6.1 – and whilst there are one or two small things I miss about sense, the benefits faaaaar outweigh the negatives!

I found Sense slowed down the general phone experience too much, with cyanogen (and launcher pro) everything runs slick :]

It took 4 weeks from “dispatched” to delivery for me, its worth it in the end, the light is awesome! The only problem for me was that I ordered the US version so now I’m waiting for a plug adapter to be delivered before I can charge it! Doh!!

The purbecks are always good, if not, plenty to do around wareham.

I went here at the weekend – enjoyed it immensely!

Sorry dude, you live/you learn :/

You *could* try and sell the 32 bit version to a friend or something and buy the 64bit version?

    chojin

bah – beaten to it by 60 seconds :)

IIRC 32bit Windows can only address 2.5gb of memory in total, and that *includes* the memory on your graphics card too!

So if you have a 1gb graphics card, you’re effectively only able to address 1.5gb of System RAM.

I can’t remember the exact figure, but it’s either 2.5 or 3gb tops – something like that.

Out of interest, what 32bit applications do you want to run? Win7 64bit is backwards compatible with 32bit applications, and the drivers are absolutely fine unless you have really obscure hardware!

Our snow got bored and left :]

I wouldn’t have *chose* black, but had very little choice as it was a 2010 sale bike – but it does look better in the flesh I must say.
Superb spec for the money too!

As it happens, I’ve started to grow a beard this month for the first time ever in my life and find it itchy, but it’s a lot better when you wash it properly!
