Well if you go to Tidworth, you could pop in for a cuppa – I can see the bike park from my back garden!

I used to work for a cruise line so am reasonably qualified to comment.

If you enjoy lounging around, drinking and eating almost unlimited quantities of food and being sedentary, it’s a really good holiday.

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>However if you, like me, find old aged pretentious northerners insufferable then it’s probably not for you.</span>

All they seemed to do is ask each other how much they paid for the holiday and talk about Range Rovers and detached houses.

The bottleneck is quite likely to be Microsoft’s end.

Every mofo in the world right now is probably trying to download their games.

    Lenovo are utter dog****.
Well the build quality is. We changed from Dell/HP to Lenovo at work and across the board, the Lenovos have been nothing but trouble.

Sure they look nice, but they develop hardware faults like nothing I’ve witnessed in my 20 years in IT.

That goes for their laptops, desktops and tablets.

    Servers are ok, I guess.

    Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

That’s a pretty good one. As a parent myself, I can recommend it wholeheartedly.

So i’ve spoken to my solicitors – They’re going to try and find out whether the small single room extension was covered under PD. They’ve advised that since it’s past 4 years, any subsequent lack of planning permission cannot be enforced. Also, regarding the covenant to seek the builders’ permission before making external changes – That’s also unenforceable since they went out of business in 2014.
The vendor has paid for indemnity insurance anyway – Is there anything else I should look to cover off?

Dear estate agent, please let the sellers solicitor know that we will be reducing our offer by 15k in light of recent information regarding a covenant and lack of planning permission. We hope that this can be accepted quickly so that all parties can complete at this late stage.
    Done!

    Oh that is brutal.

    I like it!

Thank you guys – You’ve armed me with a few ideas and questions on how to proceed and I really appreciate it. I’m just a little peeved we’ve only been made aware of the issue so late in the whole process, especially after months and months of waiting!

Edit: Just seen post above – Yes it specifically uses the word covenant. The builder, as far as i’m aware, went out of business in 2014…

The house was built in 1996 and the extension was completed in 2010 – We have a copy of a completed work certificate issued by the council pertaining to building regs, but that’s not planning permission is it?

It’s now causing me to question the impartiality of our conveyancers as they sent a letter to us full of legal jargon, but clearly stating (like all their correspondence so far) that the onus is upon to check the details and say whether we’re happy or not. They never offer advice. It’s almost like they want us not to understand what we’re signing so they ultimately get their fees.

The odd thing was everything had been taking ages to go through until this point and our conveyancers have been very vague about the cause of the hold up.
Then today out of the blue (before I knew of this issue), the seller’s estate agent calls me as a matter of urgency trying to get us to exchange and complete really quickly.
It was only after this that out conveyancer sent their email asking us to sign everything and return the forms to them, slipping in this “information” as a side note.

The cynic in me is shouting this isn’t coincidence.

I’ve very skeptical regarding AMD, they make great integrated systems like you see in the PS4/Xbone. They promised lots with the RX 4xx cards too, yet they can barely match the mid range Nvidia cards and they’re far less efficient, they just seems a generation behind. They’ve been pushing more hz/amps/cores on their processors for years, it’s never helped.

I agree with the fact that AMD have been way off the pace for years, however their very latest stuff is both competitive AND cheaper.

The RX 4xx was always aimed at mid market and below (their high end offering Vega is due for release soon), it’s generally accepted that with this generation of cards, they’ve acquired the best “bang for buck”. Precisely the market the OP is looking at with his budget.

By even offering a competitive product which previously they’ve been unable to do, if nothing else should bring down pricing for all. Win/win.

I don’t need monitor/mouse/etc as it’s just to replace an ageing PC. Most recent game purchase was Doom and my current PC struggles (I don’t want to upgrade as I have other plans for the old unit).

AMD definitely has the advantage in this particular game due to its efficiency with the Vulkan API. The RX470/480 makes mincemeat of the latest Doom.

My bet is that the Ryzen CPU will probably be over £500 alone given that it directly competes with Intel CPU’s that cost £1000, so don’t expect a massive reduction of CPU’s at the cheaper end of the market.

    This isn’t entirely accurate.

Ryzen is an architecture, not a chip. AMD are simultaneously releasing i3/i5/i7 equivalents across the board and at all price points.

The market will be shaken up.

NB – I know this is always true, but right now, with that budget, I’d wait another month or two and wait until AMD had launched it’s new “Ryzen” CPUs. I think it’s going to affect the market quite a lot.

I was just about to reply with EXACTLY the same thing. Really really this.

Ryzen is the first significant event to happen in the CPU market for years – Whilst I don’t think it will be a game changer in out and out performance, I believe it’ll force the quite frankly ridiculous pricing of Intel/Nvidia down a lot.

AMD are starting to find their feet again in both the CPU and GPU markets, even if you’re not an AMD fan – the competition is much needed in such a stale marketplace.

Can I throw a slightly left-field option out there:

    HTC 10

Has Nougat, can be had for cheap, if you’re into your audio it’s the best phone out there.
Bloatware is *almost* zero (a far cry from how HTC used to be), it’s very slick and is indistinguishable from Vanilla Android.

Also the build quality is second to none.

Buy direct from HTC and if you drown/drop/smash your phone they’ll give you one free replacement.

The new Doom can be had for around £16 right now

Google have dropped a bollock on this one.
The main appeal of Android was its price! They’re going to really struggle to command this sort of premium for their product.

A word of caution, /MIR works both ways so make sure you don’t mix up your source and destination!

Better off not using MIR altogether in my opinion.

All I can say is go for the crew cab version, you’ll have to take the bulkhead out either way.

Once the pikey sodded off back into Lordswood, a couple of proper riders came along – Was good to see it in use at all times of the day. It really is a great addition to the Sports Centre.
