I get the feeling some LBSs are too complacent when it comes to the online competition. Yeah a few will match a CRC price, but some of them don’t seem to realise that providing excellent customer service (all the time) should be their strong point. This is where they can gain an advantage over the online world.

IMO Awful things. I originally bought a Tempur matress for a bad back. Every time I rolled over at night I had to climb out of the hole left by my body. My back ended up worse. They’re also a hinderance when it comes to sex.

I can’t help but wonder if the subject and timing of this thread might be a bit inappropriate. Maybe it’s just me?

Lack of choice. Too many shops going for the “safe” brands.

The “industry” moaning about online superstores (Wiggle/CRC) and direct sellng (Canyon).

    On One’s naff branding

Lack of carbon frames with internal cable routing.

Tescos are going nowhere. Their business is evolving, just look at the acquisitions they’ve made in the digital sector. In 20 years their model will be very different from what it is today.

No need for a DAB radio. Jawbone Jambox speaker plus iPhone / IPad / Mac / Android device etc. Connect device to speaker via Bluetooth play music from Spotify, TuneIn Radio, iTunes etc and away you go. The Jawbone speaker also has a battery, making them portable. They sound good too.

I ride a 2012 Zesty 714. The ride is great but I’m not too chuffed with the excessive wear from cable rub. Whilst cable rub is part of he norm I do think carbon Lapierres are more prone to this than other brands.

Go for the Specialized, after sales service / warrant issues will be far better than Lapierre.

My next bike won’t be a Lapierre.

I currently wear daily contacts and clear endura glasses for riding. There is no way I would wear contacts without eye protection. I’m not keen on getting crap in my eyes. This in turn limits riding, avoiding the really wet and muddy conditions.

How does anyone ride with just contact lenses? Surely they dry out and you risk getting all sorts of rubbish in your eyes / lenses and possible eye damage/infection.

Prescription sports glasses and sunglasses are on the cards for me.

Road bikes are great if riding:

    alone
with no computer / hrm / strava
on roads with very few cars
    a bike that fits correctly
a route that has a real climb.

The most pleasurable moments on a road bike are when things are at their hardest and you are suffering.

Other than that, they and most people that ride them can be quite boring.

Personally I’m not in any hurry to get my kids clipped in. I’d prefer that they develop solid bike skills on flats before they start clipping in.

Kids racing BMX in France can’t go clipless until they’re over 16. When you look at the number a super fast, super skilled, super smooth French BMX riders there are, my guess is it’s not doing French kids any harm staying on flats.
