Use mine on Open 90% of the time, lock out for road climbs, never used the threshold.

Passed Aviemore today on the A9, only snow looked to be above 600m.

I’ve done the Orrin reservoir loop a few times, as I’m lucky to live in Muir of Ord :).
Another good loop is to start at Erchless castle on the A831 and head north up the lane over track past Lochan Fada and Loch Ballach. Follow the track all the way to Orrin dam, then onto Aultgowrie. The Singletrack along Gleann Goibhre is usually wet and boggy on all but the driest days.

How’s everyone getting on with their bikes over the winter? Mine has been in the garage for the last few months, but will breaking her out again today due to my winter HT having mechanical issues. Got some Beavers fitted to it now so we’ll see how they are in the snow.

Love my Rev RCT3, lowered it from 150 to 140. Fitted to my orange 5.

Had a great ride there yesterday. Went right up to the fort then turned round and came back down and got on to the trail proper. It’s pretty steep and really slippy and muddy at the moment. Full respect to joe Barnes when you watch the video, it doesn’t do it justice as to how steep and tetchy it is. Great fun, cannot wait to try it again in the dry, might have a bit of a wait though!!

Yeah that sounds like the one. I think we were going the right way, but we came across what must have been half a dozen fallen trees at what looked like the start of the climb from the road.

Pretty happy where i am in Ross-shire. Torridon range 40mins, Cairngorm 40min, Golspie 50min, Laggan 60min, Learnie 25min and Strathpeffer 10min. Could be worse 😉

I got some Enduro thermolite bib tights last winter and can highly reccomend them. Kept me toasty on the coldest of highland night rides (as well as hipflask of malt)

My Cube Reaction GTC 29er is a flying machine. Very light and accelarates very quickly. I’m loving it.

Theres so much good stuff in the woods at Strathpeffer, it would be best to do with someone with some local knowledge of where the good stuff is. I would voluteer to show you round but i will be working. Best bet is to pop into Squarewheels, you can ride from the shop too.

I dropped my 150mm RCT3 to 140mm, easy to do. Do a search online, theres plenty of video how to’s.

Loving my Reverb, was out on the HT last night without a dropper and felt awkward not being able to drop it at the flick of a switch.

The only way you can fill the reservoir to correct level is to do a proper fill and bleed by pushing fluid from caliper to lever using syringe and funnel. However, if yours is working okay I would just carry on riding as normal. Excess fluid will eventually settle at the correct level.

Only boggy bit will be the last descent of Craigowrie Dave. The rest will be fine. Go on, you know you want to 😉

Rode Golspie last week, and drive past Balblair daily. I can confirm no snow at all and trails are remarkably dry, so I would make the most of these conditions while they last

A few pics from my short ride today. Fireroad climb was holding up well, a bit of slushy snow on the exposed open trails, but once under the tree cover it was all clear. By saturday we will have had a few more seasons worth of weather so anythings possible.

Im going round the course with the dogs later today Rick. I will take some pics and post up on here what the conditions are like. We had snow yesterday, but then it turned to rain, so I wouldimagine its going to be muddy

Mud tyres are looking the likely choice if it stays like this. Going round the course tomorrow night so will report back.

Went round the course yesterday afternoon. Theres about 1″ snow covering the fireroad and most of the course. Ridable on the whole, but theres a lot of ice under some of the snow on the fireroad climb, I had 2 falls on the climb up with my front wheel washing out on the ice below the snow. Still 3 weeks away so conditions will prob change (for the worse ;))

    Sanny,

Your correct the first one is Torridon. The last one is the climb up Ben Wyvis
