Nice and dry up here just now. The coffee bothy in Golspie is only open on a Sunday during the summer. The Nisa convenience store on the left as you leave the village heading south does coffees and bacon rolls, hot pies etc. the Trawler chippy is open 7 days a week from lunchtime too and is really good, it has the cafe next door too, so you can sit down with your fish n chips 🙂

Piece of cake to change them. Guide on the Pike Manual on Sram website. I got my 140 air spring from Germany, cost about £25. I’ll see if I can find the site again.

Mine now clunk on top out since I refitted the 150mm air spring. Not worried about though as you don’t notice it riding and performance isn’t effected. They did the same when I first shortened them with the 140 air spring, but knocking went after a few hard rides. I’m confident it’s just the slot for balancing chambers blocked with the grease I put on damper quad seals.

    Thanks Bluearsedfly,
Only had 1 ride on it, hopefully out again later this morning. I’ve come from. SC solo alloy, this is a little heavier but pedals really well. Feels a lot more confident and stable on the descents, a good bit slacker and longer than the Solo, which is what I wanted.
You enjoying yours? They look great in the Blue. I would have had that colour had they done the 2015 ones that colour.

Hi Bennn, got the frame from Base Camp bikes up at Grantown here in the highlands.
It’s a raw large with CC Inline, 150mm Pike, XT chainset (1×10 32t front and 40t rear) brakes and rear mech, Deore pedals, Renthal carbon fat bar, 50mm Nukeproof stem, Reverb stealth, Charge scoop saddle, Hope pro 2 hubs with Stans Arch EX rims, HR2 3C front and Hans Dampth rear both tubeless set-up.
    30.5 on the bathroom scales.
    Cheers

    Cheers lads.
Makecoldplayhistory – still setting it up. The stem is a 70mm, a bit too long. Waiting for 50mm then can move saddle back a bit too.

Gregor Bearley is the UK rep. Met him at Glenlivet last year, really nice helpful chap. May find him on the old FB and PM him.

I find the Gore Alp X Softshell good. But soon get hot in it in anything over 5deg. Sleeves zip off which is good.

Cheers for the reply lads, and thanks for the offer of Pitmedden Robbie. Unfortunately I’m in the works van which has a tracker fitted so no driving for ‘social’ purposes :-(.

Doesn’t matter what bike your riding, as long as your having fun and get to the cafe with a smile on your face. They are good burgers 🙂

It’s 650b but not 160mm travel. 125mm and 140 on front is working for me.

    Jsync,
The Solo feels very similar to the 5 it replaced when pointed downhill. I had a 140 Rev on the 5 also. The solo seems to turn a lot quicker, think this is due to the lower bb height. I had a few pedal strikes first few outings, but I’ve got used to it one and love the planted feeling.

    Cheers

I recently bought an Alloy Solo frame. Had a Orange 5 and a Heckler previously. The VPP I find so much better on the technical climbs, seems to keep the rear wheel planted on the rough stuff. Just been riding round Torridon today, and the Solo climbed sections the Heckler and 5 used to struggle on cleaning without slipping and taking a dab.
If you can afford the extra for VPP, I would defo go for Bronson.

Cheeky little pick from this morn 😉

No probs with my 40t, running on a shimano 36t cassette, XT shadow + med cage rear, and a RF narrow/wide 32t front.
