For other trails in the area, look at the Fyrish trails just off the A9 near Evanton. A huge selection of rooty, steep, flowy goodness.
Learnie also has a good selection of off-piste trails, with easy climbs on the trail centre climbs.

I had hope tech enduro. Soft as sugar. Killed mine on a Torridon ride last year. Ding was so bad it had cracked along the seam. Now on Flow mk 3 on my 29er. Much wider than the Hope and giving a better profile to the tyre.

Just fitted new XT 1×11 to my new Stage 5 and its really sharp and easy shifting in comparison to my old 10 spd XT.

Is that Carn ban Mor path ridable all the way up? It used to be a cracking descent before they worked on it! The road up to plateau is a slog so wondering if walkers path eases the slog.

Anyone riding a Stage 5 yet?

Golspie, Balblair and Learnie all my local trails. All great in their own way. Lots of new stuff freshly built at Learnie just of the trail centre main trails. Plenty to keep you occupied for a few hours.

Fair point jambo. It states on the airlines small print that if they cannot fit your bike on board they will send it on the next available aircraft with space. Worried if that happens I end up on a 3 day bike trip with no bike! hopefully as you say its mainly Gas/Oil employees.

    Cheers

I just bought the frame direct from Stanton and built up myself. Very capable bike and a lot of fun. Ridden mine all through winter, the FS has hardly had a look in.

Had a Mule. Now with a Skyline. Really like it.
Sits a lot lower and is stable when moving about. Great pack.

Yep Golspies Lactic ladder climb. A good test of balance, technique, stamina, legs, and lungs. I kind of enjoy it I a strange way.

Had my next gen Switchback for a couple of months now and can say I’m still loving it. I’ve got a SC 5010 which hasn’t had much use since I got the SB. Climbs well and descends amazingly well for a HT. So confidence inspiring.

Had mine a year nearly and no squealing. Using Hope standard pads. Great brakes.

34 waist here. I got a large pair and had to get the elastic tabs taken in a bit by a seamtress as they were a bit large round the waist. Id go medium.

Love my 5010c. Got a 140mm Pike on and its way more capable than youd expect. Rode the Scottish Enduro series on mine, all day rides in the highlands and local techy forest stuff daily. Faultless performance.

My inline had the same wear on the stantion after 6 months riding on my Spitty. LBS sent it away and I received it back with new stantion and internals. Then found frame cracked so ended up with a new 2016 warranty frame. Sold it shortly after that.

Cheers for input Fudge9202. Sounds good. Not many bags around that are fully waterproof, so like you said, a dry bag inside will do.

Got the 27.5 version on my Stanton HT. Really nice. Light and stiff. Got a 2.35 Magic Mary on the front and DHR on rear, both have a good shape and volume to them. Only had them for a month but ok so far. See how the hubs hold up after a Scottish winter.

Haha @dannyh. It’s a Mudhugger guard molgrips. The frame is stealth post compatible but I had the external routed post from my Solaris to fit. Thanks for the remarks guys.

Very nice Mindmap3. If I didn’t have a nice FS and had to go to one bike, the Ti would be up there.

I was up there yesterday and rode the Coulags-Coire Lair-Achnashellach loop. Was pretty dry and trails were all in good nick. I heard they were doing some trail repairs to the Annat descent this weekend.
Here’s a few pics from yesterday.

+1 for the Mudrides. Im a large and had to get them from Germany via a friend in Norway as they wouldn’t post to UK! I emailed Sweet protection and they said not to expect large shorts in the UK until late spring.

Just got one yesterday. Really comfy on similar feeling to TLD A1 but hoping the venting is better. Feels and looks a really well put together helmet. All the reviews I read sang its praises. Got mine in boring Matt black, the bright orange one looked very flash.
