Just ordered a pair of Flows on v6. Came in at 270 after the 40% off.

Haven’t heard much about these v6 hubs but the pdf sale point had me. Lots of details about the British build and use of sapim spokes etc.

Can’t beat 270 for a set of Flows on a fully serviceable British built hub.

And I’m done. 501km, 1 very sore arse. Legs feel like lead!

Feel like I’ve gained fitness in 6 days though!

    How’s everyone else got on?

Not so many buyers it seems as well.

I’ve got an sb6c frame to shift and I swear it would have sold in a day on the old classifieds. Not a sniff on this new one.

Instead I’ve got scammers on unlike trying to get me to ship it abroad. 🤡

Did 55 miles on the mtb yesterday to avoid sitting on my road bike saddle again.

That leaves 3km to do today to finish it off. Gonna do that with my wife and 2 year old daughter as they’ve been super supportive of the time I’ve spent on this. My daughter thinks it’s like Hey Duggie and I’m getting my “cycling badge”.

Can’t wait to show her the Rapha patch (I’m gonna donate to charity myself as I feel bad saying I want one).

89km left. Considering a day off tomorrow but wandering if the legs will hurt more the following day for taking a break… DOMS. Maybe best to just go and get it done?

That’s me never buying from Planet X and On One again. What a stupid response to a post showing where a tyre can be had cheap.

    Great P.R. Brant.

P.S. I owned an inbred..it rode like a bag of spanners so I sold it and bought a Cotic. Rode 50x better

I’m up to 341km now. My legs feel like they are gonna fall off. Just looked back and I’ve ridden a grand total of 12 hours altogether in the last 5 weeks and had a month off before that.

    I’ve done 13 hours in 4 days. #deconditioned

I’m hoping this is a good way to start a higher volume (than I have been doing for 6 months) training programme in the new year. That way 8 hours a week wojt feel much when I’ll have done about 20 or so this week.

I’ve done 289km across 3 days and now have a backside like someone has taken a cricket bat to it.

Gonna have to have a day off or take the mtb tomorrow. Hopefully a different saddle size and position will make a difference.

Thought I’d check in. 2 short rides today with the ton yesterday has me at 203km. 297km to go with 6 days. I’m thinking my arse is gonna be the limiting factor in this, not my legs or motivation #baboonbum

Look at the flip side..some marketing bod for an app that I pay £6 a month or something for has managed to make me want to ride when the weather is grim and nasty and everywhere is full of calorie laden treats. Chapeau to them!

I’ll probably go back to work fitter and lighter than I was 2 days ago when I finished work having barely ridden through the autumn. They’ve done me a favour for 2019 fitness if I manage to complete this challenge.

Got an xl one. First ride 2 days ago in muddy slop and it was faultless. I feel like a mug paying for reverb and levs in the past!

Just over 100 miles today. Legs fell off at 93 as I’ve barely ridden since May. Not sure I’ll be able to sit down for a bit either 😣

100 miles to Grantham and back planned tomorrow. 5 degrees.

Best get some port and cheese in for recovery!

Yes and not snacking after that 6pm or 7pm meal.

Interestingly, what you are describing is the fact if you eat first thing in the morning (especially if it’s carbs) then your body releases insulin. Starts a hunger cycle.

By not eating first thing your insulin levels stay lower, then when you eat later on you truly are hungry and in my experience tend to feel fuller for it.

Cuts some of the calories out of the morning. Then not eating after 7pm can be hard as your body has been releasing insulin after meals and in my opinion this is the hardest bit (I’m an evening snacker).

The 16 hours with lower insulin levels is supposed to be really beneficial for a whole host of health reasons.

I think there is possibly an element of stomach shrinkage too.

I’m not long term on this though, so interested to hear people who have been intermittent fasting for years?

16:8 is supposed to be every day really. If you only do it a few days its a small amount of your week really.

I tend to let up on a weekend if I’ve got a big ride planned (carb load meal in an evening and then porridge at 6am).

I’m typing this counting down the next 30 mins until I can break my fast today… that’s something that’s actually quite nice; experiencing hunger. I don’t think we do a lot of that properly in western society and one of the reasons lots of sedate folks pancreases are stressed leading to type 11 diabetes.

Well I guess I’m curious as to whether I can get even better results.

Some of the research shows benefits for even longer fasting windows. So thought I’d maybe chuck one in a week. Now I’m used to the 16 hour window a 36 hour fast doesn’t seem so daunting. I’ll prob do 500kcals in that longer one when I try it.

Will probably try it in the new year- I can always go back to just the window I’m doing 7 days.

Must be sheds up and down the country full of these used for 1 week in an alps trip.in 2006. Deffo put a wanted ad up!

    Clink.

It’s not that it’s too small, more I feel I could have gone longer.

The seat tube has about an inch on my 170mm dropper so could have ran a 170 on a large.

I’m fitting 650b semi+ (2.6) tyres and want it playful so I think medium is right. As per normal I always think I seem to fall inbetween a medium and large!

I know it’s not a rocket but I’ve just taken my new to me Solaris Max 2 around the block (also long shot geometry).

My god it’s hard to get the front wheel in the air, very planted and it’s gonna take some serious adjusting of weighting and riding positions to get used to!

I’m on a medium at 5ft10, anyone go large at a similair height?

    chilled76

Cheers but I’ve ordered tyres now. My 650b wheels are really nice hence wanting to make this work.

What 2.8 tyres are you Running?

Sod it. I’ve ordered a 2.6 Mary. If it doesn’t fit I’ll have to buy new forks lol

I’d personally get a GX eagle cassette chain and shifter. Keep your existing cranks and ring.

Be prepared to blow through jockey wheels though as the bearings don’t last 5 mins.

I’ve got 11 speed xtr on my other bike and I’d put gx eagle on any new build I do but with a higher spec crank (one of the carbon ones).

Oh and which day question… for me it’s gonna be Monday’s until September. After that it’ll depend on other people’s timetables. Will change each year.

    Cheers Guys!

Martin, thought that was you when you posted something a while back! Good loop you put on last weekend!

Those who are saying it’s not worth it… bah humbug. I’ll think of you whilst I’m riding my bike on a Monday

Cheers for the positivity everyone else,

    Merry Christmas!

Yeh, cheers for that. It’s kind of at the back of my mind and hence asking the question.

At 150mm though they will only be 10mm over the stated travel limit and a 29er 140mm pike would maybe be of similar length to a 650b Lyrik fork?

    I’m guessing?

More likely to snap or crack… maybe my front teeth aren’t safe!

On a plus not- I’m going to put mine on the wifes bike as she is currently 2x set up and can’t seem to operate her front mech without getting stressed out- she only rides 2x a year!

I agree, I think it is rubbish too.

I’ve got friends who run it who love it but I’ve had nowt but issues.

Snapped a chain on the first ride (not split link)- two plates just literally peeled apart under a sprint out of a corner.

I’ve had the jump into the gap happen for the chain and jockey wheel.

I’ve had jockey wheel bearings last less than a week.

My chain is well worn after 600 miles each time.

I’m going back to shimano 11 speed (xtr mech with XT shifter) and mating it with a hope 11-48t cassette. Not quite the same range but should be 50x more reliable and rhobust).

£2k and you can have my Yeti sb6c.

Barely seen 400 miles. It’s 2016 medium. Invisitaped from new and just had new frame bearings too (the originals are notorious for not lasting 5 mins).

Prob cost you £5k to build something similair.

Ring them up. Explain nicely that you are disgruntled and why.get them to knock 10% off the already reduced close second and refund you the difference.
