Do they make Schwalbe Thunder Burts in 26?

Cheers gents. I rode it today and it rides fine. It’s not perfectly central but I think this is one of those times when you have to just say “that’ll do”.

It’s a bit close for comfort on the swing arm, but there’s no rub happened today. I’ll keep an eye on it.

    Appreciate the input.

Ask the shop to source you a touch up as a gesture. Use it and then put your new invisiframe over the top.

Yeh sram is no spacers for 73mm.

Greyspoke… good shout on facing the nds. That might buy me 0.5mm, I’ll do that tonorrow.

    Thanks.

Pretty sure it’s just slight tolerance differences between the GX and x0 cranks, as opposed to a manufactures difference.

It’s amounted to about a 1mm shift and it’s less than perfect.

Cheers. No it’s gxp on a 73mm shell.

I’ve got no spacers on the bb. That’s correct isn’t it?

    Mince tank… That’s brilliant!

Made me spit my brew out all over myself though. Doh!

    Appreciate the detailed responses.

Will be cautious on the back of this. A lot of race experience on this forum it seems.

Cheers for the input so far folks.

Sounds like the general consencus is this could make me ill but might not.

I’ll do as suggested and just add a few hours in at low intensity and go from there.

10% a week seems like such a slow way to come back up to a bigger volume is the reason why I asked.

I’d get a waxoyl gun from the 80s and treat your whole bike.

    Especially the saddle.

XC Hardtail seems to be the consensus then.

Anything mega steep? Don’t have a dropper or QR on my xc bike and may invest in a dropper for it for such occasions.

Anyone got a 29er 150mm debonair shaft they’ve taken out they want to sell?

Needs to be 100% scratch free obvs.

On the flip side. I ride an 18 on dt350s. Don’t notice any lag at all.

You can over think these things. Go and ride the bike, if you actually notice it upgrade it. Chances are if you stop thinking about it it’s an issue for you on paper.

Ah brill, average skilled rider probably describes me well.

I had visions of taking that bike and some of it being huge rock gardens etc.

I’ve heard the gap has ace scenery, looking forward to it!

Right… need a 31.6 non stealth dropper then

Yes he will. Statistically it is most likely to be heart disease then Alzheimer’s.

This sounded funnier in my head than when it was written down…

It could also he a snapped chain stay that takes him out.

Anyone know how much weight a mid range spring one adds to a lyric? 250-450g is very vague. 450g unacceptable for me. 250g well worth a go

What tools do you need? Cassette remover to take air spring cap. 5mm for base of leg and a big socket or spanner for the new top cap? Anything I’ve missed?

It did, ace. Thanks for your help Ben!

    Thanks.

One last question, is there any difference to the Lyrik/Yari chassis at all? If I buy a debonair spring and uprated seals- with the RC2 damper I’ve got fitted is my fork now actually a 2019 Lyrik or is there some slight difference in the chassis?

    chilled76

Thanks, so the 150mm one will fit a 29 yari and make it 29?

    I’ll order that.

Also, are the low friction PUSH seals listed on TF Tuned worth bothering with?

There’e free wine and beer at the stops- I did it in 2006 and managed a few drinks at each of the feed stations. Resulted in a bad crash as very apptly described above.

Highly recommend it as a good day out though. I did it on an Orange 222, was a slog as has already been stated there is a fair bit of climbing. I’d imagine with a modern 150mm trail bike it would be a superb loop!

    Thanks for this.

Do you mean 50psi increments? I think I only run about 60psi iirc?

Next question I have is about the debonair shafts… I’ve essentially got a frankenfork at min. It started life as a Yari- then had an RC2 damper fitted. I’d like to buy a debonair spring as i want to change the travel anyway.

The link here (below) lists Lrik b1+/Yari a1+ 2016+ as one option and Yari a1+ 2016 as another- whats that all about? How is that a different option?

Broke my front brake lever in a crash on the 3rd corner of the mega avalanche. Rode the whole thing with just a back brake. Flipping nightmare!

Also worth mentioning the wt 2.5 and 2.4 have worked fine on my 25mm rims. I was worried they would be too rounded out but they are less rounded than the 2.35 schwalbe.

I looked at this this week. 2.4 dhr11 in 29 wt is smaller than a 2.35 hans dampf. The 2.5 wt dhf is the same size as a 2m35 hans Dampf.

    This is on 25mm rims

I love the trolling on this forum these days- cheers to those who have made suggestions.

I own a road bike- rode it a lot, did the Fred on it last year. Doesn’t change the fact I’d like to lighten this bike.

Have a read about polarized training. By the sound of it you are the classic example of easy sessions not easy enough and hard sessions not hard enough with everything you are doing getting very similair, making you tired but not really dragging fitness up.

It’s a running book, but if you can get hold of Matt Fitzgerald 80/20 running it may completely change your mindset about whats required and you’ll likely get more out of riding and training.

Read about polarized training- will help a lot.

I reckon based on that spec list you could save about 1.5kg on it, or what, 3 pounds?

Along with lightening your wallet to the tune of about 3 grand.

    This really resonates.

I built it on a budget to save cash over buying one full (built my own wheels), bought a used lyric and used bars stem and brakes I had lying around.

Maybe as a lot have stated- perhaps just leave it then otherwise I’ll be changing a lot of parts.

My in laws hang them in branches and then pick them up on their return loop. Chances are a lot of the ones you see do get picked up. Saves the owner carrying a bag of shit for their whole walk.

29 wheels. All my bikes are now 29 and I’m not going back.

Thing is you could end up with 5 bikes that way. It is way overbiked for a lot of what I do- but I’ve built it with a few Enduro races and an alps trip in mind. I’ve got a hardtail that is approx 20lb- probably why this feels like such a tank!

Thanks for input all. Food for thought.

Been out riding hence not replying all day. Just did 3000ft in MEGA boggy conditions over about 24 miles… Think I might just change the back tyre for something that rolls better. Maybe cranks and cassette and pedals in a few months.

    Appreciate all the input!

I’m gonna chime in on this. They are really starting to wind me up too. I keep hearing people coming up behind me and being competitive I often put the hammer down when I hear that (Don’t we all). I’ve recently blown myself up thinking “jeez this guys fast i cant shake him and he keeps buzzing my tyre”. So I pull over having been maxxing HR out for a minute or two… only for it to be some overweight 25 year old on an Ebike..not cool!
