Find an excuse to complain about the wheelies service (I didn’t have to find an excuse they were utterly useless in dealing with my emails and calls), then ring your insurance company and complain about wheelies, talk about the emotional stress of being burgled and now wheelies causing stress on top of it and say you aren’t happy about it. I did this, got ano apology and an offer to send a cheque for the value agreed and they added the excess back on by way of apology.

Worth a go if forced down the wheelies route.

Thanks Andy, have you compared it to any friends lights for brightness?

Yeh the 6 pack is what I really want. Wife’s on maternity at the min and I’m struggling to justify £360 on a light so going round in circles.

Lol you’re probably right. I am dithering about it but I want to get it right. Spent toon much on this Hope one that’s been a massive disappointment.

Read a few reviews that have tested it and say the 5000 lumen one is closer to 3200. Still a good chunk and at £110 seem like a solid product. I’m struggling to get over the rubber band mount all these lights seen to run on though!

Tyres make the biggest difference for me.

Different frames and forks make some differences but tend to offset each other in my experience. Take a lap of a fairly mixed trail centre and I’ll be slightly quicker on the downs on my trail bike but I’ll be quicker on the ups on my lightweight carbon 100mm forked hardtail. Over a day they would kind of even out.

Exposure joystick mk11 on the helmet. Going to get expensive now as I’m so impressed with it I want a 6pack for the bars.

Iainc cheers matey, it’s the brightness I need. I ride in a group Tuesday night and the lumen wars are meaning my pupils are dilated, then when I’m suddenly away from the group I can’t see. Figure the only way to get on is to out bright everyone!

Tried to read the mind paradox book but found it terribly repetitive at the start and put it down.

    Is it useful to persevere?

Can anyone summarise what it does/teaches?

I’ve got a mk11 joystick on the lid gents but thanks anyway.

Funnily enough I rode with someone this evening who had a mk7 6 pack. He let me have a play with it whilst he was fixing a puncture. Totally smitten with these now, the spread and use ability of the beam blows those Chinese lights out of the water.

Definitely getting one of these now, just need to wait until evans have another sale!

Zippykona.. thanks for that. It’s so ugly it hurts though ;-)

I’ll bear that in mind Cozz. Thanks for the heads up.

To be honest £250 for a Gemini which looks like a cheapy Chinese light with rubber band mounts isn’t an option. If it was £100 it would be a contender but at £250 I’d rather buy something that has a more complete finish to it.

Cheers for the reponses so far everyone.

    Zippykona I’m based in Nottingham.

Anyone got a link to that Chinese monster? Would it run off an older hope vision 4 battery pack?

I’m aware of the Evans sale… nearly bought one and dithered about it too much reading about them. Then decided I really want one, then they were back up to only 10% off…I can get one for £340 but it’s still a big cost :-(

Just looking at the Hope r8 at the minute… how would that stack up in brightness?

I’m thinking of ditching Virgin because of cost. Can anyone recommend a good broadband only package from a provider?

Most local independent jewelers will buy jew4if it’s legit with receipts. That’d be my first point of call to get a ‘used’ price.

Funnily enough I started thinking this morning about chopping in my high powered BMW for a Volvo xc90 with heated seats and windscreen as my car was like a block of ice. Decided there was no point in 300bhp as the roads are too congested.

    Agggghhhhh I’m only 34!!!!!!

Yeh don’t mess about with that, could be anything from optic nerve issues to retina etc. Or nothing, but not worth messing about!

FAST is a complete rebuild of the damper with many parts changed. Check TF-Tuned for info. I’ve had the full FAST upgrade too and rate it highly!

Not ideal for our local canal path loops really

Anyone got a 650b yeti arc frame (ali) for sale? They are best for fitting these aren’t they?

    chilled76

I didn’t really see the point but due to my new frame being 1x specific I decided to give it a whirl. Went for 30t up front and 11-46t out back.

Although the gears are slightly less broad it’s not so much that it really affects anything and it’s made me ride up quicker as my bail out 46t is more like 2nd sprocket used to be on my 3×10 set up.

Main benefit I’ve noticed is no chain drops which do occur with even the best set up front mechs given the right conditions of mud, sudden change in direction from down to up and a tight corner with a rapid down shift followed by an instant need for drive.

And also it’s nice to be able to select bail out gear instantly unlike with a 2 or 3x where you have to shift the front.

I was very sceptical but having ridden 1x it’s definitely got its place in my opinion on bikes that see a lot of technical riding and mud.

2x still being king for fire road and light xc duties though imho.

That’s why the boostinator is better. Also no small parts to lose on the trail if fixing a puncture and you get the proper boost chainline.

Cheers guys, this is all sounding very positive.

Are there feed stations as it’s a sportive?

Cheers guys. I’ve been told a lot of people fito a compact chainset, would an 11-40t 11 speed cassette and xtr 11 speed mid cage mech have the same effect? I’m running 105 11spd shifters so unsure on compatibility but if I can pick some bits off the mtb for a weekend it’ll work out cheaper!

Hi Jonnyboi, no sorry that wasn’t aimed at you.

Thanks for the picture of the size though, it’s not as big as dimensions make you think really is it.

    Beam spread looks awesome!

I’m guessing your response is no it doesn’t affect your steering noticeably

Del.. did the bottle battery bolt on your handlebars?

Yes it’s a serious question, it’s 400g (approx 1lb) strapped on the bars.

Not intending doing any 24 hour races but some of the people I ride with have started doing peak district rides at night, the idea of brighter for longer appeals. The exposure comparison tool doesn’t show that much difference but it would be good to see a comparison of the brightness of an output they could sustain for 3 hours solid.

Anyone got a picture of it on their bars?

Does the weight affect steering at all?

Got a hope vision 4, finding it dim though compared to a group I ride with with 1,000,000 Chinese lumens each.

I’d give him 24-48 hours. Might have just gone into a night shift after or something.

No. If you can route the cable without kicking it then that’s all a manufactured route would do.

I tried adding tension with the barrel adjust on the bars but it didn’t change, will inspect are the other end though as it is a long cable outer and could have compressed a lot.
