Correct altitude button? I only use the app on my phone, do I have to login on a pc for that?

Scardypants, we are Nottingham based but I’m sure I could sort a courier if you are genuinely serious. That is very kind and generous too. Thank you!

Depending on your current fitness I’d do a warm up (15 minutes relatively easy spin) followed by some intervals for 30 minutes. Followed by a warm down (15 minutes relatively easy spin).

For the intervals it really depends on your fitness

Could try 2 mins hard with 30 secnds rest (brutal for 30 minutes)

Or 1 min hard 1 min rest

Or if really unfit 1 min hard 2 min rest

The rest period is basically back to a light spin to let your heart rate come back down a bit.

In theory getting your heart rate right up then back down again up and down for a period should have a big impact on your fitness, especially for the time you do it.

If you can combine that with longer easy rides at the weekend then you are onto a half decent training plan.

I’d advise some different types of websites to this to help with your forearms. ;-)

The exotic seem to do 2 styles. 1 which looks similar to the old pace rc31 and a much more moulded one.

What’s the difference etc? Doesn’t seem to be prices on the website either?

The exotic website is a bit glitch. Any recommendations of where to buy them from?

Theo on one link for £89 doesn’t work. Had a look and they’re £144 that I can see?

Thanks for the input gents. My xc bike doesn’t get used on trail centres or peak district rides as I have a 160mm trail bike I use for all that. It’s more gravel and local woods. Nothing too gnaarrr.

I’m guessing the Chinese ebay ones are a no no?

Thanks, they need to be 1 1/8th though :-(

I thought about 650b as the whippet can take a 650b rear wheel too.

Adsh, definitely bent… know when it happened and the 2.25 rubbed a touch under hard cornering, just on one side. You can see the wheel looks dished bit its bit the wheel.

Yeh agreed they don’t all work or I wouldn’t have asked the question lol. Snapped plenty in the past with stubborn combos and that why I bought the steel intense ones.

To be fair my current rim tyre choices aren’t that stubborn.

Can’t believe I lost it the other night, well annoyed with myself about it! If anyone finds a steel intense tyre lever in woods to the north west of Nottinghamshire shout up :’)

If they are 1 1/8th and good working order then yeh they could be.

    Can get me on

Cheers guys. A few options there. Lots of love for Pedros so I think I’ll give them a go.

How long is that Leyzne one? Looks a bit too long for my top tube bag maybe?

    Update:

Used a breaker bar and a 4mm Allen socket with a swift motion it cracked open and didn’t round the head.

    Phew.

    Cheers for the input gents.

Singlespeedstu I’m unsure how to quote text in replies so I can see how my response seemed like I was being a keyboard warrior.. it was however aimed at ‘wiggles’ rather judgemental response earlier up the page not at everyone being helpful.

P.S. I haven’t done it up anywhere near as tight and it’s still done up tight now.

Judgmental singletrack world never fails to deliver…

Trust me guys this is so tight it feels like I’m going to break the light.

It’s going back to the shop for them to break so there is no warranty quibble.

It hasn’t come perfectly straight, it’s slightly angled and it’s more than I want it to be.

    Cheers guys.

I’m going to leave it and take it back to the shop. That way if it rounds they can be the ham-fisted monkeys explaining to USE what happened.

Expected a bit more from a £400 light!

I had one of the yellow ones circa 1998, completely different bike obviously but same name.

Rode like an absolute peach, proper springy cromo frame. Cracked one and Marin kindly replaced it, the replacement cracked in exactly the same place.

    First ever proper mountain bike

Also- not sure £300 for a light is cheap.. more like, “slightly less extortionate priced Exposure 6 pack”

Finally bit the bullet and ordered one of these yesterday after spending 2 months posting about different lights on here. Nice of Evans to email out offers 24hours before to previous customers.

Only just had chance to check back on this thread properly.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations so far and for taking the time to reply. I’ll have a look at the different coaches recommended so far.

A few questions people have asked me overlap so to answer in general, I’m no way near race ready at the minute in my opinion hence wanting to get a year of hard training in before deciding on some races and even what to race if I feel like it. It’s more about making the most gains in the next year that are possible.

The coaching idea is to take the complications out of it for me, I’ve got jo friels book on heart rate training and found it really complicated.

Thanks again for all the suggestions so far, will look up the different options.

Could always just post on Internet forums about cycling rather than doing any actual riding. Great hobby!

No I’m more talking mtb. I ride some road at the min just to get some extra miles in but I’m after getting quicker on the mtb.

I ride in a couple of mtb clubs/groups but want to keep any coaching outside of those as they are pretty social groups.

Yep, paid a guy to clear all the leaves from my back garden and take them away last week.

Cost me £30. I got to spend Sunday afternoon with my 7 month old daughter instead :-)

Terrible experience with the Nottingham branch. Sold me a £2000 Trek road bike that was too small for me that runs a seat mast not a post. Having never used a road bike before I wasn’t sure about sizing and took their advice on sizing. Anyway, I used it once and then the winter set in and I tucked it up in the dining room.

Pulled it out in the spring and after about 40 miles realised I couldn’t get the seat high enough as I needed.

Phone call later had one of the staff having a go at me and accusing me of lying about the fact I’d not used the bike for 4 months etc etc. Really aggressive and rude to me.

I just wanted them to supply a longer seat mast. The manager then spoke to me and agreed to order one in but I’d have to pay £60 for it. Said he’d call when it arrived.

Never heard from them to say it arrived.

Ive since sourced one from the U.S and wont be using them again despite the fact I would have happily put a £1000 bike to work voucher their way every year since.

It’s a shame as they are on my way home from work.

Got a lev integra that’s 3 rides old. It’s started sticking down already.

Given the choice again id go reverb as my last one was faultless.

Haven’t read the whole thing but if you aren’t prepared to back your words up with fists I’d be really careful mouthing off at people you don’t know future. Could have ended a lot worse!

The fact he then reported you for racism is ridiculous on his part but some people just pull that card at anything

Went docs at 5pm.. standard response. You’ve had a virus or maybe a few in succession. Drink water.

Thanks doc, doesn’t change the fact I’ve gone from being able to ride and lift weights and run to barely walk up a flight of stairs for over a month but hey ho.

Just for the record before anyone looks at his history and confuses this.. I’ve just sold Ross a reverb and not the person who bought one off of him and sent it back. He was getting rid of a stealth one and buying a non stealth one. Presumably changed his frame.

Cheers guys. Ordered some Northwave celsius 2s inbetween posting that and coming back, turned out Evans 15% off doesn’t apply to specialized so changed mind.

Sized up on those.. hope it was right!

Still haven’t bought a new light for the bars yet Iaian :-)

Doesn’t quite look right, think it’s because the wheels are a different size.
