Out of interest, what did you think would happen? I get the heavy books thing, but a ladies coat?

Just as an annoyance when he’s trying to get to his squash kit in the changing rooms at the gym. Seemed amusing at the time.

A lot of suggestions this is a return prank. It could be although I was there when he took the phone call… It seemed pretty genuine and he looked like he’d seen a ghost afterwards.

He’s also not talking to us all now which leads me to think it’s real.

At the minute that is a possibility. Bit the cost of a quality turbo (mines a bit shite) plus a bike plus a power meter will likely come to £700

Anyone got a 5th hand watt bike for sale?

I entered but didn’t get through the ballot. Gutted as the weather sounded amazing, got a friend who’s done it 11 years in a row and she says it was the best yet.

Will enter again next year but hearing it is now owned by the Tour de France owners it will undoubtedly be even harder to get a place.

Get it cleaned up and put some hammerite anti rust primer on it asap or that WILL corrode and write the frame off eventually.

Its a known phenomenon as stated above. Max HR running is often approx 10 beats higher than when cycling.

God knows the exact reason why though, never read a good explanation as to why.

Not convinced by the “you’re just moving your legs”

    Thread hijack…

How do you get the 810 to do this?

Never used that function on mine and I’d ike to..

    Idiot proof steps please?

The 3 fastest dh riders I’ve known personally and ridden with over the years have all been 6ft3 to 6ft5.

Taller folk ride bigger bikes which are always longer.

Longer bikes makes for more stability and easier navigation of big terrain.

I personally believe it is an advantage however slight

    I’m 5ft10

You haven’t put too much pressure in your front tyre have you?

Last time I did that I was getting similar syptoms

Cheers for the info folks. I’ve basically built up a cheap hack from spares (Nice frame that I had welded up) and did a bodged 1x conversion and the chain won’t stay on on bumpy ground.

I ordered a NW superstar chainring in the sale at the minute and the rear mech I’m using has seen better days so I thought I’ll try and get something on there with a clutch anyway.

Andrew, I’ve emailed you about the spacer.

Does anyone know, will an slx one work also?

Yeti… I’ve never had a chainstay snap and my SB rides brilliantly.

Trek. Brilliant designs and fantastic warranty

Is that standard 4 arm compact drive?

Yeh this bike never gets used for big terrain, I’ve got a trail bike I take if I go peak district/lakes etc.

This one is more for local woods etc. Fast xc type riding

Generally people run a grippier tyre on the front though don’t they.

For example on my big bike I run a magic Mary up front and I’m now on a Rock Razor on the rear.

Suspension increases grip too and I’ve ditched the sus fork.

Question is I guess… how different?

Can highly recommend the Brooks Launch shoes. Size up the same as your normal shoe size for me at a 9 (43)

Yeh when you factor in a BB etc it’s the same price as a set of XT cranks at discounted prices available.

These or XT… think I’d probably go XT due to the ease of chainring and BB options when parts wear.

    What BB do they use?

    Probably a combination of things…

Is the full suss a lighter build overall?

It probably gives better traction as stated above.

Different wheel size rolling over rocks better?

One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is your position and fit on the bike, maybe you are getting more of your power down on the full susser because it fits you better. Layback and reach etc etc having an impact on power output of your legs/glutes

One of the things I’m thinking is I could maybe do it for a few years then step back up again to somewhere in-between the two roles if needed.

The prospect of being skint scares me, and with being off more will I want to spend more?

    Possible PR stunt?

Fell off mid ride. Took some pictures and made out he’d been attacked to get some press coverage?

    I know his name now…

Yeh it’s the seals that are incompatible. Made of different material to work with the different types of oil to stop swelling etc.

Ratios have nothing to do with it, a hydraulic ratio doesn’t change when you change the fluid, it’s created by the difference in piston diameter.

I’ve caught fish and eaten them.

I also keep chickens and although I don’t do it regularly I’ve necked one before and curried it.

Plucking it was the hardest part!

Its interesting we all take our safe society for granted. There are apparently lots of signs it could eventually collapse (probably not in our lifetimes but maybe in 100 years).

Considering chipping it in for a Trek Superfly though.

There’s now about 50 tyre sizes to go along with the umpteen wheel sizes. Makes it amusing when no one can lend anyone else a tube mid ride when they’ve had a flat (these are however far from frequent as everyone except hippee Stu is tubeless).

They are fine even when ran off centre.

Mines about 15mm to the right of centre and you cant tell at all other than aesthetically.

Another point worth considering is how hard you are working during the session.. and how your fitness/metabolism is adapted.
